Oh, S**t!

As 2009 begins, the State of Washington faces many pressing issues, most notably a projected $5+ billion deficit, rising unemployment, aging infrastructure and gridlock on our highways. I’m heartened to hear that our dedicated legislators are hard at work in Olympia, fighting for the citizens of our state with such groundbreaking legislation as SB 5038, “An act relating to making technical corrections to gender-based terms.” This behemoth is 397 pages and meticulously details the changes to be made in each law currently on the books.

I wish I were kidding, but I’m not. Someone has carefully – painstakingly – searched out each gender specific reference and replaced them: person in place of man; he or she in place of he; chair in place of chairman…you get the picture.

This is the kind of meaningless gesture of which liberals are fond. They can point to this exercise in futility to show how sensitive they are to gender issues without actually accomplishing anything of value. Or doing any thing crazy like actually showing some respect to the opposite gender (Sarah Palin ring a bell?).

That being said, if they’re set on doing this, they ought to go all out and do it right. I’d like to offer a suggestion. Rather than replace “he” with “he or she, ” which is awkward, I suggest we a whole new third person pronoun, “s**t,” which is a combination of “s/he” and “it,” all cleaned up to make it suitable for children.

Consider this excerpt from RCW 4.24.040 and Code 1881 s 1226.

he s**t shall do it at such time and in such manner, and shall take such care of it to prevent it from spreading and doing damage to other persons’ property, as a prudent and careful man person would do, and if he s**t fails so to do he s**t shall be liable in an action on the case to any person suffering damage thereby to the full amount of such damage.

Works nicely, don’t you think?

S**t. I would have to say that pretty much sums up how I feel about our Legislature wasting their time on this pointless, well, s**t. To the Labor and Commerce Committee, however, it was so important that they considered it as one of their first pieces of business.

The legislature could be considering the supplemental budget, passing cuts that would start saving the State money right now. Instead, they’re working on this.

S**t indeed.

But what can you expect? Washington has become the state of liberal zombies.

But stay there, will you? The number of real “humans” in your state has dwindled over time.

Solution? The only thing I can think of is for your conservative race to PRO-CREATE MORE REPS/CONS right at the heart of your state.

that has gone so far off the rails. We’re still mostly normal on the dry side but we keep getting Californicated so I’m not holding my breath . . . just stocking up on precious metals – - lead, brass, nickel, stainless steel, blued steel, etc.

I’m a few years past the point of pro-creation! But point taken.

    Deer-in-the-headlights Gregoire?

I’m a native Washingtonian, and let me tell you, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world with some of the greatest people.

But when it comes to politics, especially lately, Washington is stone cold stupid. I’m not talking about traditional “I’m a Republican and the voters keep electing Democrats so obviously they are stupid” kind of stupid. I am talking stupid in that in recent years we keep electing really, really stupid people for really, really stupid reasons.

It didn’t use to be this way. Mike Lowry was a horrible Governor and he wouldn’t have won re-election because people realized how bad he was. I never voted for Gary Locke, but he wasn’t a terrible Governor. He was reasonably moderate and understood the game that is governing Washington. He didn’t do much, but he didn’t screw up too much either.

Gregoire on the other hand, is every bit as bad as Lowry was, but somehow managed to get re-elected. She didn’t understand, apparently, or didn’t care, that you cannot pay off your interest groups in lump sums. They’ll just come back and ask for more. Locke understood this. Gregoire has run up a $5 Billion dollar deficit because she didn’t.

That, and let’s not even get in to Patty Murray continually being re-elected. Or Darcy Burner even being able to get past the primary (although admittedly, they rejected her in the general.).

    • http://itsonlywords55@wordpress.com paulag1955

Mike Lowry was a screw up and everyone knew it. And can you imagine what Scoop Jackson would think of Patty “Obama-Builds-Daycare-Centers” Murray?

As you said, Washington is a beautiful state with great people. But also with people who ride their bicycles – nude – through the streets of Seattle at the Solstice parade; who don’t actually (openly) support eco-terrorist groups like ELF but don’t condemn them either; where the Seattle City Council tabled a proposal to prohibit nudity in city parks because a few extremists protested.

King County is LOST to reason but they are unfortunately the tail that wags our political dog. Their elections are a sham and electing a new director will not help if they’re going to allow the current director to supervise the election in which she is running…need I go on?

As stupid as they are, you are fortunate that they are wasting time and effort on s**t. Otherwise, they might be passing laws that would add even more problems to your pretty state.

They have a lot of other s**t in the works as well.

You know the day all of the magic is supposed to happen, the day all bills will be paid and all debts gone (at least for those who are government and don’t pay taxes anyways). I bet a whole lot of people will be surprised soon, if they pay attention and do not listen to the liberal left media tell them what to think.
