Ilya Somin and my RedState colleague Academic Elephant have exceedingly worthy remembrances. They wrote everything that I would have written but let me just note that if people have finally learned to value and appreciate human freedom, they did so because of the example of men like Solzhenitsyn. Thanks to his life and the way he lived it, we could legitimately say that we have seen a giant walk amongst us.
