9/11: Condoleezza Rice in the White House. Crisis controlled. (VIDEO)

9/11: Condoleezza Rice in the White House. Crisis controlled. (YouTube)

Video summary

September 11 2001. Al Qaeda terrorists hijack US airplanes and crash them into high value targets.

With the President in Florida, National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice must try and stop the chaos spiralling out of control.

Condoleezza Rice tells the President in a raised voice that he cannot come back to the White House yet and hangs up.

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld is AWOL surveying the damage of the attack on the Pentagon and helping the wounded when he should be in the Pentagon Command Center co-ordinating the military response. Neither the President, his chief of staff nor Condoleezza Rice can contact Rumsfeld at a critical time.

The US military forces raise their alert level to DEFCON 3, the highest state of war readiness since the Cuban missile crisis but Condoleezza Rice keeps her head and uses the hot line to call the Kremlin to stop a cold-war-style of escalating alerts.

Edited extracts from a documentary, partially dramatised for British Channel 4. 14 minutes 2 seconds.

Condoleezza Rice is indeed in a class above the typical politicians which, sure, the people can elect but then we need to ask who is the elected politician going to appoint to actually run the state, the various departments or the country because said typical elected politician is clueless and offers nothing beyond a list of one-liner statements on the issues?

If we elected Condi president we know who would run the country – she would because that is what she does – run things, not just have one-liner opinions on things. That is a huge difference.

    Case in point.
Here is the a link to Condoleezza Rice’s entry in the on the issues website

    http://www.ontheissues.org/Condoleezza_Rice.htm

For “Condoleezza Rice on corporations” it says
“No issue stance yet recorded by OnTheIssues.org.”

Whereas one look at Condoleezza Rice’s CV and you cannot but be impressed by the number of corporate bodies which she is a director of.

Your typical politicians might offer a one-liner opinion on the issue of corporations – Condi runs corporations. That is the difference.

Here is Cond’s impressive CV – minus the list of her numerous publications.

Not just holding the posts but what she achieved with them. Maybe you don’t remember 1989-91. She worked for President G.H.W. Bush and with Gorbachev, ending the cold war, bringing down the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain, re-uniting Germany, freeing Europe etc while Senior Director for Soviet Affairs for the NSA. Experience doesn’t get any better than that.

Condi is a class act and very smart. I will need to know more about her views on a lot of issues before I can support her. Is she even going to run?

  • http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rice-for-president/ Peter_Dow

Condi has never run for elected office and doesn’t have fire in her belly to run. It isn’t what she most desires in life – to be elected.

So my guess is unless a lot more people want her to run and ask her to run and unless she has a change of mind about whether she wants elected office, she probably won’t run.

All I can do is keep the flame of hope alive that one day she might run because I think she would be the best president American and the world could have.

This was Condi’s reply when Katie Couric asked her if she would run on McCain’s ticket in 2008 if asked.

    “probably not for her”

My humble opinion is however that the real problem why Condi did not sound keen to be McCain’s VP is McCain didn’t ask Condi, he didn’t court her to see if she was really interested. We know McCain asked Palin – and that is what cost him the presidency.
