The target of rage this week for daring to acknowledge Southern history

As RedState’s Warner Todd Huston has covered recently here and here, and as I’ve noted over at PeachPundit.com here, it is increasingly anathema for anyone to acknowledge the history of the Confederate States of America without the typical slinging of allegations of racism and bigotry.

The usual race pimps find any acknowledgment of heritage they disapprove of to be unacceptable. For instance, peruse with me the ravings of Bishop Carlos McKibben of Albany, Georgia concerning Confederate Heritage Day:

I think it has something to do with this is Deep South and they still consider – sometimes some people consider whites superior than blacks and we still have a problem with that.

Or, for a more vapid viewpoint, Georgia State Representative Tyrone Brooks (D-Bigotville):

“These Southern states really still have not come back into the Union,” he said. “That is why it’s been so difficult over the years to get the states to recognize that flying the Confederate emblem on the flag, holding reenactments and pushing these calendar events as a matter of law is a reflection … of their Confederate mentality.”

“This is a new day. The Confederacy lost, and the majority of the American people will not accept these ideas about a renegade group of folks.”

No doubt State Representative Brooks is horrified that so many people are daring to acknowledge history or that youth may use it as a foil to learn about their ancestors. We can’t have that!

But now the goons who get their ire up over people celebrating their Southern heritage and ancestry have found something so vile, so incredible, that the very foundations of our Republic are at risk. Its very presence is, we are told, horrifying and offensive and will, I predict, soon because a much bigger deal once the “race pimps” on the left learn of its existence in the Georgia Department of Agriculture headquarters in Atlanta. This time, though, they are not upset about heritage or ancestry…but about history:

Somali pirates freed on “technicality” after NATO pursuit; This is how we fight bad men, Canada style!

On Saturday night off the coast of Somalia, pirates attacked the Norwegian-flagged MV Front Ardenne. After a seven hour pursuit by NATO warships, including the HMCS Winnipeg, the USS Halyburton and a British naval supply ship, the pirates terrorists poor, misunderstood youth threw their weapons into the ocean and surrendered.

Let’s relive the final moments of this pursuit when the Canadians caught these pirates first:

As darkness fell, Cdr. Baines cut the lights and caught up with the smaller vessel by stealth. After firing another flurry of warning shots, sailors boarded the pirate craft, recovering a rocket-propelled grenade round.

Impressive! Kudos to Commander Baines and his crew. And what, praytell, do you think happened to these thugs?

Georgia’s Habersham County kicks local Tea Party off government property by enforcing laws that do not exist

Promoted from diaries by Mark Impomeni.

From this story in The Northeast Georgian newspaper on April 16, we learn about another Tea Party that crossed swords with local government. Indeed, Habersham County government took issue with the 75 patriots upset over the growth of government…by telling them they had no right to use government property.

The first relocation, off [Habersham County] courthouse grounds, came at the instruction of Habersham County Commission Chairman Gerald Dunham through County Manager Janeann Allison.

Contacted Thursday, Dunham said, “We’ve asked our attorneys to develop an ordinance or a use policy. The situation yesterday was such that they didn’t ask us for permission. In fact, we didn’t know that it was going to happen.”

What is curious is that, as Gerald Dunham even points out, there was no ordinance to prohibit the peaceable assembly of citizens on government property and, point in fact, only after the Tea Party assembled did someone decide they had to leave immediately (even though event organizers were told by courthouse security officials almost two weeks before the event there was no permit required to assemble on the grounds).

“Obviously we defer to our attorneys on that issue, and basically we’re following their advice,” Dunham said. “We didn’t want to take a chance on not adhering to their advice and it having possible legal ramifications for the county.”

Right. Well, the problem is that County Manager Janeann Allison can’t explain what law was being enforced when they kicked people off government property, either.

Crybaby Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky: Tea Parties Are “Cheapening” The Messiah’s Plans!

Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-Crybaby) is just so gosh darn upset that more than 150,000 people attended the Tea Parties nationwide yesterday. [PRESS RELEASE]

“The ‘tea parties’ being held today by groups of right-wing activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes for 95 percent of Americans and creates 3.5 million jobs,” Schakowsky said in a statement.

“It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt,” she added. “Not a single American household or business will be taxed at a higher rate this year. Made to look like a grassroots uprising, this is an Obama bashing party promoted by corporate interests, as well as Republican lobbyists and politicians.”

Evidently in Schakowsky’s America, people should not be upset that Federal spending is out of control while the Department of Defense is being cut and that liberty and Federalism are threatened.  Yes, it’s all the right-wingers fault for daring to “cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt.”

Of course, when the left held myriad protests with left-wing activists, fueled by CNN and MSNBC, those were no doubt merely part of an honest and forthright attempt to “educate” us all on the truth about the evil George W. Bush and his thug cronies, right?

As the State of Texas stands up for Federalism, meek Georgia House RINOs let a grand opportunity to galvanize for liberty and freedom pass them

Several days ago in Austin, Texas, Governor Rick Perry announced his backing of House Concurrent Resolution 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:

Perry made clear his Federalist position with regard to the attempts in Washington to extract more and more control over what are clearly State’s issues.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

Texas is now leading the way in a bold manner in an effort which is still in its infancy, to begin to push forward the fight for Federalism and the rights of individual states to control their own destiny and rise and fall on the decisions they make, irrespective of dictates and demands from the Imperial Federal Government (IFG).

And what did the Republican leaders in the State of Georgia do when they had a similar opportunity to take a stand on the side of Federalism during the recent session of the Georgia General Assembly?

Some shocked, just shocked, to learn that the laws of physics apply when driving a “SmartCar.” Welcome to today’s lesson regarding the tradeoff between size and safety.

As has been quite evident in recent months, our Imperial Federal Government (IFG) wants U.S. automakers to abandon the production of larger, profitable vehicles that people want to purchase for smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles that customers aren’t interested in. This is being done for our collective good even though hybrid cars make up only 2% of all vehicle sales in the United States.

Why? Well, it’s for the children. And to use less gasoline. And to curb all the pollution which our Earth Mother, Gaia, must deal with. Did I mention it’s for the children? Okay, good.

Because now it appears that some proponents of all these “SmartCars” are actually promoting a product with a higher mortality rate than the sedans and sport utility vehicles that seem to get the job done just dandy right now. Evidently there is this little thing called the “Laws of Physics” that is coming into play:

Obama science adviser: We’re not opposed to U.S. Astronauts having to hitch rides on Chinese rockets

Presidential science adviser John Holdren of the White House Office of Science and Technology recently sat down with Science Magazine to discuss a variety of issues including the imminent end of the Space Shuttle Program in 2010. While this is hardly a blip on the radar of many, little more than a year from now Space Shuttles will stop launching from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida as NASA transitions to its Ares I and Ares V launch vehicles as part of Project Constellation. The result of this, under current budgetary limitations, is at least 4.5 years will pass without the United States having available a NASA built vehicle to send U.S. Astronauts into low earth orbit or to the International Space Station.

So how will our guys and gals travel to the International Space Station? The same way they did after the loss of Shuttle Columbia in 2003: via the Russian built Soyuz rocket and capsule, itself a shaky plan as tensions between the United States and Russia are on a downward slope by all accounts.

This development doesn’t seem to trouble Holdren. Indeed, in the interview he also details his openness to the idea of another space-faring nation taking our Astronauts aloft:
