Ordering a Code Red

Today, the NRCC launched Code Red — a project intended to provide the public with information on the current state of the healthcare debate while alerting them that the House is the battleground for saving our healthcare freedom.

Additionally, this site provides ways for Americans to contact the Democrats whose arms Nancy Pelosi will be twisting to ensure passage of her healthcare takeover.

My team has created the hashtag #gopcodered for people to spread the word via Twitter about what they are seeing and hearing on the healthcare debate. Any tweets with this hashtag will auto-populate on the Code Red site. I hope you will use it and share it with your friends and other interested parties so that Americans can be fully educated on the backdoor tactics Nancy Pelosi will employ to takeover their healthcare.

We cannot stop fighting to keep our freedom in healthcare. Just today Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) confirmed that Democrats will move forward with reconciliation if the House can pass the Senate’s healthcare boondoggle. This means that only simple majorities in both Chambers are required for passage – and the ability to filibuster in the Senate is gone. This means that our last hope to keep our healthcare freedom is to stop this reckless agenda in the House.

My colleagues and I will continue to fight for you, but we need you to contact Democrats and let them know they have two choices: vote with Nancy Pelosi or vote with America.

Mr. President, we live in a nation that has freedom, and that freedom has to be guarded by men with principles. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Ms. Pelosi? We have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for socialized medicine, and you curse the Republicans. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what over half of America knows. That HCR’s death, while politically inconvenient for you, probably saved lives. And our resistance of that, while grotesque and obstructionist to you, saves lives. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at your Hollywood fundraisers, you want that freedom — you NEED that freedom. We use words like small government, liberty, Constitution, tea party. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to a party that rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom our limited government provides, and then questions the principles which provide it. We would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way. Otherwise, we suggest you pick up a hybrid and move to Canada. Either way, we don’t give a damn what up-or-down vote you think you are entitled to!

most excellent rant and post it as a diary. I guarantee you plenty of recommendations, probably enough to get you the top spot on the list.

        So well put.

We are considering several options, but we are working to ensure Democrats know the stakes of this vote

Although this post correctly points out that the battle is in the House, I have come to the conclusion that the threat of reconciliation is simply a smoke-screen for passage of the bill that has already passed the Senate.

If the members of the House think that anything significant is going to happen via reconciliation, they are fooling themselves. This is about promising some “fixes” through reconciliation to get a Senate bill that would not otherwise pass the House passed in the House. Once it is passed, whether reconciliation happens at all will be unimportant. Obamacare will be a reality.

We should be focused solely on affecting the upcoming House vote and the merits of the Senate bill that has already passed, abortion funding, La. purchase, Cornhusker kickback, and all. Obama will gladly sign that version into law.

When everyone figures out that nothing is going to be fixed via reconciliation, it will be too late, as Obamacare will already be the law.

You are right that it is a diversion. Even Republicans would vote for some of those changes. I can picture Democrats accusing Republicans of blocking the elimination of some of those provisions.

You are not right that any upcoming election will matter because nothing can or will be done by elected officials to change it. However what we can and MUST focus on is refusing to buy health insurance or pay the penalty. That could, if enough people did it, effectively kill the plan. It must be done regardless though.

I would also argue that the bill will not be “law” because nothing unconstitutional is “law” (even if every judge and “law” school says otherwise). It will be reality though.

I was first alerted to an ACORN/SEIU office setting up a phone bank/mail factory threw some local advertising. As an information czar for a local Tea Party, I went and did a threat assessment of this

      Thank You Congressman

Keep in mind that some of these Congress people thinking of switching their votes may do so if they feel they are secure in re-election thats why I hope you continue to garner some top tier challengers ( many stats have deadline in March and people like Altmire, Carney, and Dahlkemper all in PA may switch if they aren’t certain they have anything to worry about)
