MEMBER DIARY

Did Boehner just grow a spine?

Sorry for the short diary. I will try to prolong it as long as possible. I just heard on the radio that John Boehner said that tomorrow the House Of Representatives will keep the tax cuts in place. He also dared the president to veto it. Is this really true? Or am I living in an alternate universe. Again, sorry for the short diary but I don’t know any more about this. Could someone please fill me in on what is really going down?

Indeed, he did. Spoke for about 50 seconds, and the last thing he said was the President had the choice to either encourage Senate Democrats to pass the bill, or be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history. Then he walked off.

The only thing missing was Boehner spiking the microphone.

“I just heard on the radio that John Boehner said that tomorrow the House Of Representatives will keep the tax cuts in place.”

What he said was he would increase the tax rates on millionaires and keep the tax rates as they are for everyone else. So he is talking about raising their tax rates. He said he wouldn’t increase the tax rates on those making between $200K and $1M per year.

Personally, I hate the idea. But considering how disgusting Obama was at his press conference today (exploiting dead children to raise rates on lesser income levels and lying about Plan B, saying the tax rate increase is a tax cut), it’s just slightly better than nothing.

I would agree… what I thought he said was just too good to be true.

Maybe he’s finally figured out that he’s getting attacked from both sides, by conservatives and by Democrats, and that at least if he does this he’ll only be attacked by Democrats.
