MEMBER DIARY

Following Up On Moe Lane’s Gun Control Diary

I’d like to start by thanking Moe Lane for this weekend’s entertaining and informative diary about gun control legislation. I also want to point out that he is definately on to something and I say we take this a little farther.

Let’s use this disinformation strategy and start rumors that target Obama’s supporters. We do that by attacking things they hold sacred. Stay with me on this one!

An example of this would be to start a rumor on Facebook and Twitter, that the Seante is considering an exorbant tax on all abortions. This will be an ammendment to Obama Care and so on and so on. Or we could say that they want to tax their lattes and coffees because of the addictive quality of caffeine.

Liberals have perfected this strategy and engage in it all the time. As I recall, years ago, if you remember when Bill Clinton was being called into testify about Monica Lewinsky, several media outlets spread the rumor that during the interview he came unglued. It turned out as we all saw on the video taped session he was as cool as a cuccumber. I don’t know about you, but having that chicanery perpetrated against me demoralized  me more than I already was.

I have always felt that the supporters of  Obama are to blame for this mess. The object of this game is to make them paranoid about the people they elect.

I understand the left right now can do a better job of this because they can”buy ink by the barrel full” But I think we could make in roads by bending the ear of college kids and twenty somethings who would fall for this stuff.  Please understand that my primary purpose is to educate those who are misinformed and I feel this is the only way to do it. The media lies to them all the time about Republicans. By doing this we wouldn’t be actually lying to them because we all know that other side would do something like taxing abortions and coffee if they thought they could get away with it.

So, let’s start educationg and planting these seeds and see if they will grow.

This is a stupid and immensely destructive idea and the person who wrote it should be ashamed of himself. Particularly in the case of the Journal News publishing the names and addresses of legal handgun permit holders, which has received widespread condemnation, we’ve seen that simply because something is public doesn’t make it right to publish it – particularly for the purposes of “vigilante journalism”, and even if it’s TRUE.

Now you’re proposing actively *lying* to people – engaging in a deliberate disinformation campaign, distributing deliberate falsehoods out of your sense of being demoralized because of “chicanery perpetrated against me.” That’s vengeance, and it’s not even justifiable revenge. It’s flatly stupid. It’s as transparent and easily refutable as it could possibly be, and it will be – and the only result will be to have anyone associated with you and your idea branded a liar.

This suggestion, sir, is crazy. And I sincerely hope nobody listens to a word you ever say, again.

Lying and misinformation only sows the seeds of more lying, misinformation and retribution. Someone should delete this blog entry and really consider deleting the user. I consider it to be close to the equivalent of someone yelling “fire” in a crowded theater.

At the very least, I don’t remember reading in my entire time associated with Redstate that anyone was allowed to propose a deliberate misinformation and lies campaign and have it stand up as a diary entry here, no matter what the subject, or how “demoralized” someone was because of the “chicanery perpetrated against” them.

Mr. Kowalski, thank you for your opinion. You are welcome to comment anytime. The question I ask myself everyday since the election is how do we educate the low information voter. Well, the only way at this point, is to throw some of the tactics that they use back in their face. And that is the use of “Street Theater”. Yes some of them might catch on. But when they do, this could be used as an opening for a discussion about politics and just possibley informing them about what is really going on. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. BUt I believe it is worth a try. What’s your solution?

You propose to “educate the low information voter” by telling them that you’re going to lie to them, and then by actually lying to them, and continuing to lie to them, in the name of people at Redstate. That’s brilliant, man. How long did it take you to come up with that?

You’re an idiot. Deleting your user account is my solution. Trying to associate Redstate and anyone on Redstate with an organized disinformation campaign out of your sense of “demoralization” is probably the stupidest idea I’ve ever seen promulgated on this blog and I hope the moderators kick you out, today.

Since the Newtown story broke, I’ve written more than 15,000 words talking about my ideas. And not just talking about my ideas – carefully analyzing the evidence we have at hand, talking about reasonable answers to the problems we face, and most importantly raising awareness that this is a serious problem that we need to act together on – immediately. I have not been remiss in my duties to either this blog or to myself, or the 2nd Amendment. And I haven’t lied to anyone, and I’m not going to start now.

We know there are lots of people who lie. They make a career out of shading the facts and nuancing the truth so that it’s just as good as a lie, or even better than a lie. It may be that we can’t win right now by telling the truth, but frankly we haven’t tried very hard. So far Redstate has not called for a national call-in to legislators (to the best of my knowledge) and it has not started rolling out the heavy artillery of legislators here to begin talking about what our response in terms of legislation should be. I hope they don’t wait too much longer to start rallying the troops, but I think it’s the height of foolishness to begin any of that by listening to some goofball diarist telling everyone: “Lie to the low-information voters. On Twitter and Facebook, no less. That’s the ticket.”

The last thing in the world I would ever want Redstate to be associated with on a matter as serious as this one is an organized (or even a disorganized) campaign to LIE to people on Facebook and Twitter.

And that is exactly what you’ve called for, and that’s why you should be banned retroactively and this post deleted, your IP address logged, and you should be permanently forbidden from posting here. Wage your asinine PsyOps disinformation war on your own, bub.

my apologies, I will officially post and say I am sorry. Wasn’t trying to break any regs here and am glad you are so active on this site. Look forward to your further involvement.

I might also add sir, the media does this all the time and never gets called on, except for maybe a few exceptions. Again, what’s your solution? Because sir, to tell you the truth, we are just sucking winds here.
