US’ words have consequences …. or maybe not

Also known as with friends like us, who needs enemies.  When the US can’t verbally support one of its major allies….

But why should we wonder, when we have a President on the world stage who can’t even correctly pronounce the names of world leaders, one of whom, deserves that respect perhaps moreso than others, Burmese opposition leader, and world human rights activist, Aung San Suu Kyi (pronounced Ahng Sahn Soo Chee, Mr. President). By the way, he also mis-pronounced the Burmese (or Myanmar’s) President’s name as well. Must be all that campaign fatigue. So vote now. Whose gaffes would you rather have on a world stage, Mitt’s or Barack’s? Gaffe starts at 1:15. When you listen to the simple eloquence of the Burmese leader, you know it’s going to be a long four years.

And the FYI for other readers, the correct name for the country is Burma. “Myanmar” is is the name of the junta that rules Burma. Aung San Suu Kyi and other political parties/minorities solely use the name Burma as to not validate the military’s control of the country.

And while these military leaders are not as rich or dangerous as the North Koreans, they certainly are on par with sheer amount of misery and human right abuses they have created for the Burmese.
