I’ve written previously on the film “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West,” a documentary that successfully (and fairly) probes the threat and prevalence of radical Islam. Some 28 million DVD copies of the film were packaged into newspapers all across the country this past week, hoping to raise the profile of the issues discussed in the movie and reiterate the supreme importance of the fight against these radical and hate-filled individuals.
“Obsession” in Dearborn: A Recap
The Dearborn screening of “Obsession” was more than I had bargained for. In a city that boasts the largest proportion of Arab Americans for a city of its size (nearly a third of the total population), the outcry over the film screening was quite minimal, perhaps even non-existent. This is quite something. Unlike the University of Florida, who, fearful of backlash from Arab students, banned a campus group from showing the film, Obsession representatives were allowed to rent a theater and even book speakers to discuss the issues. Quite surprising indeed.
Screening “Obsession” in Dearborn, Michigan
(Updated below.)
Today I am flying to Dearborn, Michigan, where I will be attending a screening of a documentary titled “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West” – a film that I have discussed here before – which is being sent nationwide, included in newspapers and magazines as a way of reminding voters of the threat we face from Islamic terrorists, and how the result of the upcoming election will determine how we fight these forces of evil. If you get National Review in the mail, even if you receive the New York Times on Sunday, it will be arriving on your doorstep and the doorsteps of millions of homes early this week.
To mark the 7th anniversary of 9/11, there will be a screening of Obsession in Dearborn, Michigan. The film will be followed by commentary from Debbie Schlussel, and conservative radio talk host Hughes Sullivan. I will be live-blogging the screening at the request of the film’s supporters, including the panel discussion after the film. I will be posting updates throughout the day, as I travel to the screening and report on what I find.
“Obsession” & The Push for November
I’ve written here previously about “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West,” a two-year old documentary that attempts to awaken Western civilization and unveil the truth about the militant, radical Muslims promulgating their hate-filled world view throughout the Middle East, Europe, and even here at home. Calling for moderate Muslims to rise up and disavow those radicals who clamor for young children to join their cause, *Obsession *clearly defines and exposes the inhumane principals and ideals on which our adversaries thrive. With the election only 90 days away, the issues touched upon in the film are especially pertinent today. The folks behind *Obsession *are making a big push to bring the topic back into the forefront in the hopes that we elect a leader in November that is both fully capable to handle these terrorist thugs and will continue to to uphold the refusal of negotiation with despotic heads of state who promote nothing more but hatred and disdain for the West.
