There has been much talk in the media – especially the new media, about Obama and his administration leading us down the road to socialism. I say forget socialism – we are already at communism. Reading an article on AmericanThinker.com last week, (here)
I was alerted to a pamphlet the Communist Party USA prepared for the 2008 election. If you actually have the guts to link to the CPUSA website, you can find this little gem on their 2008 Election page, (here) “Click here to download PDF”. This pamphlet basically lays out the Communist Party USA platform for the 2008 election (and beyond), which is eerily similar to the Obama administration radical left wing agenda as revealed over the past several months.
The introduction says, in part,
“…There is a crisis in every critical area of national life…Working people want bold new policies to end war, restore democratic traditions and create green living wage jobs, affordable housing, healthcare and quality education for everyone.”
(Did you notice the use of the word “crisis”? I wonder if Obama took his cue from the CPUSA?)
The brochure, neatly printed in both English and Spanish, goes through a few more pages of slamming the right, for example:
“Although the ultra-right is weakened and divided, they continue to push fear, division, racism and anti-immigrant bigotry in this year’s elections, aided and abetted by the corporate media. These multi-pronged poisonous tactics can only be overcome with unbreakable unity.”
I sometimes wonder if the left, including the CPUSA, doesn’t need a long, hard look in the mirror when they say things like that!! “Aided and abetted by the corporate media”? What were these folks drinking when they wrote that?
The CPUSA suggests four “bold policy changes necessary to meet the immediate needs of working people, eliminate poverty and move our country forward with a new President and Congress.” These policies include:
1. Immediate Relief
a. Moratorium on foreclosures, including resetting mortgages so payments are affordable.
b. Extend unemployment compensation, increase payments and eligibility, increase food stamps, WIC, children’s health insurance, and low income energy assistance.
c. assist deficit ridden state and local governments so they can preserve serviceds and jobs. Fund “ready-to-go” infrastructure projects.2. Peacetime, Green Jobs Economy for all
a. Enact massive public works jobs creation to make existing buildings energy efficient, construct new schools, hospitals, affordable housing, mass transit, and bridges…
b. Major clean, affordable energy development project for solar, wind, and biomass electricity generation. Immediate program to cut greenhouse gas emissions and for environmental cleanup. Restore Federal energy regulation and encourage public ownership of utilities.
c. Enact the Employee Free Choice Act to enable workers to form unions without intimidation and win higher wages and benefits, dignity, and respect.
d. Enact the US National Health Insurance Act to provide universal health insurance with single payer financing. Fully fund public education from pre-school through higher education and technical training…3. Restore Civil Rights, the Bill of Rights, and Separation of Powers
a. Restore Civil Rights Act enforcement, affirmative action in employment, education, and housing… Outlaw hate crimes. Preserve Roe v. Wade.
b. Pass immigration reform with legalization, a path to citizenship, due process…
c. Repeal Patriot Act. Restore Habeas Corpus rights. No more torture. Investigate and prosecute Bush administration violations of the Constitution
d. Expand voting rights. Enact publically financed elections, same day registration, voting rights for ex-felons… Restore Fairness Doctrine in media.4. Strength through Peace
a. Withdraw US troops from Iraq… Full care for returning veterans…
b. Adopt a new foreign policy of diplomacy and respect for all nations, instead of preemptive war for corporate interests. Renew commitment to UN peace role
c. End trace policies that enrich corporations while destroying jobs. Ratify Kyoto Treaty and other climate change agreements.
d. Enforce nuclear non-proliferation, work to abolish nuclear weapons. Cut Pentagon spending in half, close down US bases around the world.
The final page of the brochure states: “Defeating the right wing is the first step in the struggle to end exploitation, poverty, racism and war inherent in capitalism…Our vision is a socialist USA, that opens the way for equality, world peace, real democracy, a society in which people control their own destinies in a sustainable world.”
I think it is time we stop calling President Obama’s agenda the road to socialism. It is communism, pure and simple, and it is here. My heart weeps for America.

izoneguy Sunday, March 8th at 1:47PM EDT (link)Here are the five countries who are still commies -
People’s Republic of China
Republic of Cuba
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea)
Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos)
Socialist Republic of Vietnam
I would not say that these countries have ended - exploitation, poverty, racism or war. On the contrary - a few of these are considered the poorest nations on the earth.
And let’s remember who was communist:
http://www.voanews.com/english/archive/2007-02/2007-02-01-voa38.cfm
….Fidel Castro has not been seen in public since July when he underwent surgery and temporarily handed power to his younger brother, Defense Minister Raul Castro. With many concerned about his health, some analysts say they do not expect the Cuban communist regime to survive without its 80-year-old founder.
East and Central European countries faced a similar crossroads when their own communist regimes ended in 1991. Now, 16 years later, the transition for many has been a great success:
“We have successfully turned away from a command economy to a flourishing market economy,” says Andras Simonyi, Hungarian Ambassador to the U.S. “Our societies are free. We have the freedom of speech. We have a free press. We have a rule of law and everybody is equal in front of our law. We have a multiparty political system, with checks and balances.”
Mr. Simonyi, and the ambassadors of Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic, participated in a roundtable discussion at the Voice of America.
Sixteen years after the demise of communism, these four nations are among the wealthiest post-Communist countries in Europe. The four are members of the European Union………

When your typical garden variety Democratic representative is batting 95% with the CPUSA platform, that should tell you how far down the road we are.
Obama should be put on the hot seat and quizzed, to wit: “Exactly what are the differences between your legislative agenda and that of the CPUSA?”
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is generally adopted. - Arthur Schopenhauer

janis Sunday, March 8th at 3:09PM EDT (link)Obama what to call what he is–progressive, liberal, socialist and the fact that he wouldn’t pick one to describe himself, I guess this answers it. He wouldn’t pick one of those because Obama truly is a communist instead of one of those other less malignant choices.
As with true jihadists, I guess that lying to advance your agenda is also permitted with communism.
Thank you, Vladimir.

Yes, we are at communism, not socialism; although there’s really little difference between the two except semantics.
Still, it’s not too late to turn it back and not just with a message from the Republican Party, which can’t seem to find one yet. It has to be real, not just words somebody is mouthing to win an election.

redneck_hippie Monday, March 9th at 10:41PM EDT (link)Congrats on fine piece - quite limbaugh-esque.
I remember what the soviet threat felt like. When I was 10 we used to practice tucking our heads to our chests and cowering under our desks to prepare for nuclear holocaust. Now it’s a kinder gentler kind of communism. We can stay in “our” own homes and be slaves to the state.
Just started reading Witness by Whittacker Chambers. Chilling, very chilling. But as for The One. The Mask is certainly slipping what with the NYT calling him out. The One can not have that because the adoring fans might disapprove.

[DONE, funding through Porkulus] Immediate program to cut greenhouse gas emissions and for environmental cleanup [DONE, funding through Porkulus]. Restore Federal energy regulation and encourage public ownership of utilities. [Not done through any bill so far, though all it takes is a new regulatory policy of the EPA or DOE]
c. Enact the Employee Free Choice Act to enable workers to form unions without intimidation and win higher wages and benefits, dignity, and respect. [This has not be done, but commercials are running on TV funded by the Unions in support of this]
d. Enact the US National Health Insurance Act to provide universal health insurance with single payer financing. {DONE, New Budget proposal for a down payment on Health Care and the Porkubus Bill and funding provided in the Porkulus Bill for health care service education] Fully fund public education from pre-school through higher education and technical training… [Universal College Care, see goals of the Demoncrats, Not yet done]
3. Restore Civil Rights, the Bill of Rights, and Separation of Powers
a. Restore Civil Rights Act enforcement, affirmative action in employment, education, and housing… Outlaw hate crimes. Preserve Roe v. Wade.

c. Repeal Patriot Act. Restore Habeas Corpus rights. No more torture. Investigate and prosecute Bush administration violations of the Constitution
d. Expand voting rights. Enact publically financed elections, same day registration, voting rights for ex-felons… Restore Fairness Doctrine in media.
[All of the above are currently preserved so I do not konw how these are bold policty changes]
4. Strength through Peace
a. Withdraw US troops from Iraq… Full care for returning veterans… [Withdrawl of troops by August of some damn year]
b. Adopt a new foreign policy of diplomacy and respect for all nations, instead of preemptive war for corporate interests. Renew commitment to UN peace role
[See the latest from the headlines in the UK and the reset button for Russia, DONE]
c. End trace policies that enrich corporations while destroying jobs. Ratify Kyoto Treaty and other climate change agreements. [Cap and Trade]
d. Enforce nuclear non-proliferation, work to abolish nuclear weapons. Cut Pentagon spending in half, close down US bases around the world. [Quarter cut in Pentagon spending by Barney Frank and no doubt this will happen in this years budget]
So all and all, OBAMA IS A COMMUNIST, HE SUPPORTS ALL OF THESE AND WE HAVE ALREADY FULFILLED 90% OF THE COMMUNIST AGENDA. Shall I go on and get you all specific references in the Porkulus bill or has everyone read it by now?

Not communism
drealoth Tuesday, March 10th at 8:16AM EDT (link)Socialism sure, but calling this communism is disingenuous. Mao and Stalin collectively killed over 130 million people (Hitler was a chump next to these two guys), and we’re faced with what? High taxes and 10% unemployment. People in my family were killed by Stalin. My girlfriend’s father (who has a PhD in computer science) was shipped off to a farm for 5 years by Mao during the cultural revolution. The current path that the USA is taking is unfortunate, but it’s nowhere close to communism.
I am a supporter of the Canadian Green Party, but forgot to mention that when I came here to troll around.
You're right that we aren't there yet.
Brian Hibbert Tuesday, March 10th at 8:25AM EDT (link)But it is the normal progression of socialism.
And even good intentioned policies may lead to massive suffering beyond just high taxes and high unemployment. For example, government meddling in health care often leads to shortages of services and deaths while on waiting lists. The good intention of providing universal health care paid for by the government inevitably leads to more suffering and death.
Hopefully, we can stop it before it gets to the point of killing millions. I am sorry for the loss that you and your girlfriend’s families suffered under misguided governments. I hope that you will support us in our fight against lesser versions of the evils of communism,.
Socialism doesn’t work. It looks nice on paper, but it’s been tried and it’s failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

See any gulags in Western Europe?
liberalrepublican Tuesday, March 10th at 8:21PM EDT (link)They’ve gone done this path for decades.
In fact, here are the countries with the highest standard of living:
1. Norway
2. Sweden
3. Canada
4. Belgium
5. Australia
6. United States
7. Iceland
8. Netherlands
9. Japan
10. Finland
Quite a few socialist countries on that list. No gulags.

None-the-less...
DONTREADONME Tuesday, March 10th at 8:14PM EDT (link)it is communism, do not confuse the two as somehow that different. My Ukrainian great-grandparents and grandparents fled this. The only difference here is that communism has taken over under the guise of progressive and socialism and the people voting for it, not the bloodshed required to make communism happen overnight and stay that way. Plus currently the farms are owned privately, as soon as the cities figure out they can make (vote by majority rules) farmers in the states feed their people rest assured they will come for it.
Read up on the weather underground, if I do recall correctly, they believed at the time that they would have to kill something like 25 million die hard capitalists; it is a shame they figured out how to do it slowly and without blood. Unfortunately, the blood is to come, people will not take this for much longer, over-reaching is inevitable. None-the-less communism, the collective, “we all must sacrifice”. Not to far away from the 5 years plans, in our case it will become the 4 year plans, to ensure perpetual rule.
“The UN is right? you can’t be any more “un”; Than you are right now, the UN is undone, Another mushroom cloud, another smoking gun, The threat is real, the Locust King has come, Don’t tell me the truth; I don’t like what they’ve done, Just give me ammo for the UNITED AbomiNATIONS”-Megadeth
It absolutely baffles me...
angib Tuesday, March 10th at 10:57AM EDT (link)…that so many in the media (speaking about Republicans/conservatives) are so afraid to call Obama what he is. He is a radical socialist-borderline-communist. I’ve heard soooo many Republicans saying “Ohhh he’s not a socialist, he’s just radical left-wing.”
It makes you really wonder if they have any idea what a socialist and/or communist really is and what they really believe, because everything I’ve seen come out of the White House so far is socialist/communist policies designed purely to destroy the REPUBLIC principles this country was built on.
The Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves right now.
