Another Open Dem Senate Seat: Webb ( VA) Out

via political wire

Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) will announce today that he won’t seek reelection.

Senate Democrats see DNC Chairman Tim Kaine as a top prospect to replace him, and a source tells Ben Smith the former Virginia governor “hasn’t shut the door on the possibility.”

He was anti-war and had no other moral or intellectual gravaman for being there. Stepping down is the best thing he could do for The State of Virginia at this point.

    for the Republicans.

He was not a well liked, nor hugely disliked governor. His governorship just sort of faded away. He was mostly ineffective on anything that mattered, and any of his ‘principled’ stands were ALL very left wing.
Since his departure, he became an obnoxious political hack whose leadership provided a rout for statewide dems in 2009.

    Yeah, a very good choice.
