http://usacac.army.mil/cac2/cgsc/carl/download/csipubs/matthewsOP26.pdf

This is a report on the 2nd Lebanon war. Although it does not specifically list any particular technological or encrypting technology, it does reference Hezbollah having some of the world most advanced equipment. It is a very long, but interesting read.

Based on everything that I have read on the 2nd Lebanon war, Hezbollah, and Iran, it is an educated guess on Iran's involvement, and the equipment they provided Hezbollah (but correct nonetheless).

Altough I should note, it was first assumed that Hezbollah was able to intercept IDF encrypted radio communications. This was later determined to be a false assumption.

Mainly because the protestors believed the Tienanmen Square 'World is Watching' garbage, and got rolled over just like the Chinese at Tienanmen...

The Iranian protestors became the heroes of the left, using twitter & TOR software to organize, etc - the problem is, they organized OWS-style protests, not guerrilla cells, and carried protest-signs instead of M-16s (Iran still uses some US ordnance from the Shah era - and I'm sure we could have spared some rifles to 'donate' to the cause - by way of Iraq, of course)...

So we saw liberal 'peaceful youth activists' get what always happens to peaceful youth activists - beaten, murdered in the streets, and defeated...

Iran needed a revolutionary army, and they got Starbucks Warriors instead - and we sat by and encouraged it, rather than pointing them in the right direction (don't shoot the armed thugs on dirtbikes with camcorders - GUNS work much better. BTW, we don't need these anymore - but they still work great)...

(In general, I am all for helping the people of places like Venezuela & Iran send a message to their 'leadership' - attached to surplus US ordnance.)...

My preferred solution would be send in the Marines, then give the country to the opposition & say 'have fun'... I don't care if the Muslim Brotherhood takes over after we leave - they hate Iran as much as we do... Ground invasion is always the fastest & most results-ensured way to take out a murderous regime...

However, since it's not politically palatable right now, we have the Romney option... Which is to use Army Special Forces for what their primary mission always has been - to train, equip and lead indigenous forces - backed up by everything the USAF & USN has in the region that can fly & carry ordnance...

The absolute WRONG choices are 'do nothing' or 'support Assad'...

The Syrians have been seen holding signs saying they miss W Bush (because Bush would have sent Assad to join fellow Baathist Saddam) and the Republicans as our governing party...

Romney needs to respond to and reinforce that - by tossing Assad as soon as we can make it happen.

The rest of the world understands and respects STRENGTH - not vacillation, apology & equivocation...

However, the number 1 reason the US needs to forcibly remove Assad and his entire Alawaite Baath-party regime, is that they are Iran's only major allies in the region - and a Shiite regime - even Muslim Brotherhood - is preferable to the current Iran-supporting one

Yes, MB isn't exactly our friends - but they are less of a threat than Iran.

Stab the Iranians in the heart - topple Assad... The sooner the better...

What was your source for the idea that "the Iranian government supplied much of their technological equipment and encrypting technology to Hezbollah"? I have been searching around, but haven't been able to find that fact anywhere else reputable.

We keep hearing these stories that would eliminate any element of surprise for Israel. Israel should definitely not trust the US government now and should not tell it anything.

Obama to my mind is on the side of Iran and wants Israel eliminated. It starts with his doing nothing in 2009 to help the anti-govt demonstrators in Iran, not even moral support. If he had acted we might not have this nuclear nightmare going on, and could have perhaps started building some goodwill with that segment of the Iranian people.

Then there is the involvement of Ayers and Dohrn with the blockade runners against Israel. Surely they reflect Obama's own thinking. I could go on and on. It ought to be clear that Obama prefers our true enemies and repudiates our allies.

Political opportunism is certainly a part of this, but only part. You could call it foolish. Or you could call it criminal.
