Jeb Bush to Run for Senate!!!

OK, so technically, he’s only “Considering” a Senate run, as you can see here:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16155.html

But there is no way in hell he would ever say he was “considering” a run a mere few hours after Martinez announced he wasn’t seeking re-election if he weren’t virtually 100% certain he was going to run.

I’m guessing this was planned. I know he’s gotten some flack around here, but I’ve always liked Martinez. None-the-less, it was also clear to me that Martinez didn’t really “fit in” in the Senate. He doesn’t seem to enjoy his work and I think he probably just didn’t feel like going through a tough campaign for a job he wasn’t particularly jazzed about. I’m guessing he was willing to run again if it would be more difficult to keep his seat, but didn’t want to, and called up Jeb to see if he wanted to run.

I simply cannot imagine Jeb would come out with a statement this strong this soon after Martinez announced he wouldn’t seek re-election if this wasn’t already a done deal.

Regardless of what you think of Martinez, this is great news. Pretty much everybody likes Jeb, and the seat will go from toss up to gimmie for Republicans.

Dukakis Says McCain Is Using Willie Horton Like Ads Against Obama

And he seems to think that’s a bad thing.

But why should it be? We criticized him for a legitimate issue and he lost in part because of it.

Anybody think this is high praise for the McCain campaign?

Question: What Would The Media Have Said If Obama Had Picked Tim Kaine?

The hysterics on the left over Palin’s relatively light resume by liberal media pundits, as well as, unfortunately, Charles Krauthammer and Mort Kondracke, has been intense. Saying it’s hypocritical to attack someone with a short but accomplished resume (Palin) when shilling for someone who’s resume is both short and unaccomplished (Obama) is to state the obvious, but I can’t help but wonder:

WHERE WERE THESE PEOPLE WHEN IT WAS EXTREMELY CLEAR THAT TIM KAINE WAS ON THE SHORT-SHORT LIST TO BE OBAMA’S VP?

Kane has almost the exact same experience as Palin:

Kaine was a City Councilman, Palin was a City Councilman. (I’d say Counsilwoman, but Palin apparently doesn’t like it when people do that.)

Kaine was a Mayor, Palin was a Mayor.

Kane was Lt. Governor (a totally ceremonial position), Palin was Chairman of the Oil and Gas Commission.

Kane is a first-term Governor, Palin is a first-term Governor.
