Some quick thoughts on PA-12

Right now I’m at Burns for Congress HQ with Robert Stacy McCain, Brian O’Connor, and John LaRosa.

Scott Brown’s event went well. Check out Stacy’s coverage here.

I’ve never heard of anything like a local TV station pulling a campaign ad for factual inaccuracy. Wow.

The Susquehanna poll that Neil mentioned isn’t anything to fret too much about. Folks I talked to from the Burns campaign weren’t stressing over it when I stopped by his HQ yesterday. It’s a close race and GOP folks need to work our asses off calling and canvassing this weekend, but you absolutely should not make any conclusions, inferences, or judgments based on that poll.

I’ve called and e-mailed the Russell campaign asking for them to reply to this question. Haven’t got a personal reply, but they have sent out an (incredibly unenthusiastic) e-mail urging their supporters to vote Burns in the special and Russell in the primary. About the best they’ll do I suppose.

Can’t say enough how important it is to support any GOP candidate against a Dem.

I have not wanted to look at any updates here, so nervous. Tim Burns has run an incredible campaign in hostile territory, let’s hope team red has some umph here. DCCC pushed another $300,000 and SIEU has placed another round of negative ads.

Seems Burns ground game is decent, as always depends on turnout, wish I could be in PA this weekend. Will make more calls from home.

    Thanks for the updates.

…You might want take to look at Sean Trende’s post about PA-12 at RCP.

Trende makes some good points in showing that a GOP loss in PA-12 in the Special may not be such a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I tend to agree with Trende on this…

but honestly I won’t lose any sleep over that event. Right now, Tim Burns is likely to win this thing. If he loses, we’ve got a ton of other races that we can win. If he wins, that’s one more impetus to keep fighting for candidates who are willing and able to effectively limit the federal government again.

We really need to win this seat

do whatever you can from wherever you are this weekend. Even if you spend 10 minutes making calls from where you are at you may make a difference
