Dan Riehl blows up the NRCC in regards to NY-23

From the diaries by Erick. Consider this piece by Dan Riehl a must read. I have heard the exact same thing as Dan. In a nutshell: forget the nonsense that the New York GOP picked Dede Scozzafava all by itself. There was actual, tangible involvement from the NRCC leadership in that choice — just another example of the Beltway GOP Establishment screwing things up.

(H/T American Spectator)

Dan Riehl has published an account on the selection of Dede Scozzafava for NY-23.  The NRCC is apparently none too happy with Riehl’s report.  You can read Riehl’s story here.  A lot of interesting stuff in there and some that is bound to make a lot of conservatives angry with how this all went down.

I’ve been having visions of brooms sweeping the congress (and in many respects, the party) clean. If I had toby-style talent, I’d draw a picture of a broom beating up a mop. (An obamop, that is).

Anyway, we simply must apply federalist principles to our GOP and its congressional fundraising arms. Centralisation of all political efforts is something counter to our principles.

My BP shot up about 30 points after reading that. Newt was already on my (profanity) list because of his mealy mouthed performance Sunday morning on Fox but this beats all.

CT, I hear you. Neil doesn’t like talk of a civil war but that’s exactly what we’re in. It’s just a different type of battlefield where the weapons are our words, our votes, and our money rather than guns, tanks, and bombs.

A lot of the things that are uttered by these butt heads we’ve accepted as conventional wisdom for so long they think we can’t see when conventional wisdom is WRONG. Some of it I don’t believe is wisdom at all but things throwed together because they sounded good and rational until put into practice.

In 1998 the Ohio GOP establishment selected Robert Taft (of the political Taft family) to run for governor. They told the Conservative, Ken Blackwell, to go to the back of the bus. Eight years of corruption, higher taxes, and regulations paved the way for the democrats sweep of all of the Ohio Executive Branch offices in 2008. And for the first time in 14 years, the GOP lost control of the House of Representatives.

Corruption and a lack of leadership is killing the Republican party at every level.

Support the candidate, not the party.

    Direct to conservative candidates only.

    • jcincy

ever… why empower the power hungry?

      Give directly to the candidate.

Politely asked the staffer why Newt claims to support conservative values and yet supports a D in R’s clothing. Staffer claimed ignorance of the topic, I then told them I would only donate to conservative candidates directly.

I just contributed to Doug Hoffman’s efforts. I pray my support helps.

Now that our “leaders” in Washington from both parties have decided that they’re going to appoint and annoint the senators and representatives they deign to let us vote for (so long as we vote the way they want us to).

Didn’t work out so well for Parliament the last time they pulled this stunt.

But this time…well that depends on the American populace and what values we hold dearest.

taxation before Congress has passed any law authorizing same. They are using the EPA, and even playing off a Bush Admin decision to classify carbon dioxide as a pollutant. Bush issued a statement that this did not authorize regulation, but….

Their lifelong careers in Washington politics has given them the divine right to dictate such things to us. just because they haven’t yet asked for prima nocta doesn’t mean it isn’t their divine right.

  • antisocial

    Very Frustrating….

  • http://andrightlyso.com/ civil_truth

    Things are going downhill fast.

In the past, our political aristocrats at least paid voters for prima nocta. The old urban machines – they did something for their constituents in return, repair the street, fix tickets – you got some attention from your committeeman when you needed it.

Now it’s take our prima nocta for granted – even worse, now they expect us to pay them for prima nocta.

Obama as Louis XVI, Congress as the nobility, and Tea Partyers as the Third Estate – we’ve seen this play before.

is a massive flop. Just had to listen to him defend the indefensable on Hannity’s radio show at 1600hr Eastern.

I am disgusted and feel that Republicans are going to drop the ball with his leadership. Steele just a BIG FAIL defending the pick for NY23 .

  • bs

that I doubt this crap would be going on if Ken Blackwell was in there. Steele is a wuss.

  • DavidS1787

Also Steele needs to be replaced now! He is the poorest spokesman for the Republican Party……..

  • Richard Mullins

so I guess this was to be expected.

  • Joe Rivers

I had Dawson, Blackwell, Anuzis, in that order, as my preference. All industrious, go-getters, proven conservatives.
