MEMBER DIARY

Lincoln Davis insurance policy for Pelosi?? Call up his office and demand a public statement declaring he is a NO.

Crafty little weasels.

I think I see what is going on here.  His staffers have been telling callers for days he is a no vote but will not come out and say so in public.  Ask his staffers that if he is a no vote, why will he not publicly say so?  The reasons you get should be a lot of fun.  Time to upset Pelosi’s apple cart.  The same goes for John Tanner as well.  These undecideds are not being released because Pelosi is trying to pick off Stupak supporters to give Democratic congressmen in GOP leaning districts cover.  This might explain the Zack Space defection and the Chris Carney no to yes switch.  Go to work.

PRIORITY #1

Lincoln Davis

John Cooper

John Tanner

PRIORITY #2

Then of course, a modified target list:

Paul Kanjorski (PA-11), Earl Pomeroy (ND-All), Nick Rahall (WV-3), Bart Stupak (MI-1), Marion Berry (AR-1), Joe Cao (LA-2, Republican), Jerry Costello (IL-12), Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-3), Joe Donnelly (IN-2), Steve Driehaus (OH-1), Marcy Kaptur (OH-9), Dan Lipinski (IL-3),  Brian Baird (WA-3), Rick Boucher (VA-9), Jim Matheson (UT-2), Glenn Nye (VA-2)

This is still up in the air.  If you can pressure these congressmen into making their public statements now, this could complicate things.  There is a lot of jostling going on with who Pelosi would let stay and who she would let go.  She wants those Stupak pro-lifers badly.

The way these congressmen have declared, these Democratic congressmen are going to be slaughtered everywhere in this country come November.  However, the Rust belt states, the Commonwealth states and the South are where the Democrats are really going to be hit the hardest.

He’s one of the ones that will catch holy hell in his District (R +15) if he votes for this so he probably is way up on their list to get a “Get out of jail free” card.

      • treeofliberty

FDL just announced Matheson’s No vote and now has the NO votes at, with leaners 217(!!!) now OBVIOUSLY it goes without saying that this is still VERY much in the air and Obama/Pelosi are going to be putting all kinds of pressure on those Dems so do NOT stop the pressure/calls/emails but this is a very, very good sign IMO!!

        • JadedByPolitics

Is that TRUE? if so then WE have them RIGHT?

If these two are for real and stick, should be big unless there is a major Stupak Block cave.

Good News. Call them and thank them

whip your boys into shape. There should be of the holy hell the will receive, even if they are retiring.

Really. somebody needs to light a fire in Tennessee

      Gordon, Davis, Tanner, and Cooper.

Gordon is gone, but two or three of the others would seal the deal.

C’mon Bredesen, or whatever your name is. A Dems Gov is telling his own guys that ObamaCare will bankrupt TN. Maybe he needs to say it louder.

Can someone get Phil to give these idiots a call.

      • AndrewHyman

They could vote “yes” on the first bill and “no” on the second. That would do the job.

        • treeofliberty

          indeed!

I can’t believe that a red state like TN has so many pro gov takeover congress critters, if you live in TN PLEASE call these fools non stop!!!

we have been calling, emailing, faxing and cussing. Even our Lib gov wrote them a letter explaining why they should back off. And our state legislators have got in the act. One cited poor hospitals in the mountain in east tennessee for his yes vote and another, i can’t remember what his girl said. Something about toenail fungus i think Anyway to him it was much more important than the opinion of the majority of TN residents.

  • RealQuiet

Initially I thought Space was a cover vote because of his district but with Matheson now I’m starting to get hopeful. Tennesseeans need to go to work on these guys.

    • Putter

Like I posted in another thread, where is it cast in stone that they will get 100% participation? a couple abstained during the vote for the rule.

  • mavericktime

He would have a hard time voting yes though.

Do you think Pelosi has enough votes and is giving certain people permission to vote no?

    • RealQuiet

What is encouraging is that most of the undecideds left are mostly in heavy GOP areas or are Stupak pro-lifers.

  • RealQuiet

    Don’t let up!

  • Swamp_Yankee

He’s still holding out. I just thought he was like the others that wanted say that he wanted to read the whole bill and look judicious then come on baord at the end. But that period is over. He is not asking for anything. He is fairly safe in Maine, so I doubt he is just looking for cover.

I dont know, but it seems like there is nothing holding him back other than principle.

Praying for another New England suprise.

Well, there goes that route they were trying to bamboozle the pro-lifers with.

  • caseoftheblues

…when they are NOT. Lots if misinformation that bolsters Pelosi and Obama out there. Rush was right! If an overwhelming feeling of inevitabilty can be created spineless Dems will cave. I am STILL calling and leaving messages, sending faxes and emailing. Some of them have surveys on their sites. Pound them with CBO saying that TRUE cost with Doc fix ADDS to deficit and the Chief Actuary of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid says Senate bill (before “fixes”-will be higher now) adds at least 222 Billion to cost, additional demands for service difficult to meet, will be price increases, cost shifting and decrease in quality and acessibility….THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE VOTING YES FOR!

    • izoneguy

In public – many are saying they will vote yes to get Pelosi and Raham off their backs……and to force the final vote.

Once it comes down to it….the demorats will abandon ship and rush back to their districts to say – I did NOT vote YES. And that is all these reps will have to run on. They don’t care about Obama’s support in the fall. No amount of dirty D.C. money will help a rep if they vote yes. Obama will be so toxic that I doubt he leaves D.C. to campaign for anyone – except Fan Nan and Dirty Harry.

    • joayn

Used to demoralize constituents and legislators.

      • RealQuiet

And they will never stop either.

  • mike_lawyer

According to numerous recent postings on Freerepublic and local VA newspapers.

  • RealQuiet

    Per HHR

Aside from the legal conflicts this would create, Executive orders can be revoked at any time by Obama.

  • Swamp_Yankee

    Its 8:00 P.M.Est.

I’m going to assume a lot of the critters have left the Capital. Some are probably still there hammering out deals.

But its 8:00 and Pelosi still doesnt have the votes. When does she have to schedule a floor vote. She has to give some kind of advance notice, right?

8:00 A.M., 10:00 A.M., Noon. At what point does a vote tomorrow become impossible and how does that relate to the 72 hour rule.

This must have been the “vote sequencing” Obama referred to in Baird’s interview.

I think they’re trying to obfuscate the fact that the Recon doesn’t go to Obama until it gets through the Senate.
