Shameless political opportunism — Obama uses oil spill to push cap and trade

Attempting to turn the huge lemon of incompetency that is his presidency into lemonade.

Desperation has reached new levels but this doesn’t surprise me.

using a reconciliation bill. I don’t see the votes for this in the Senate or the House.

I count at most 59 votes for this right now. Perhaps after Blanche Lincoln or John McCain lose their primaries, they may well vote for this monstrosity.

And I can’t see how Pelosi can find the votes for this.

and it’s already passed congress. They’re just waiting for the right timing to bring it up in the senate.

I knew the “O” administration would not let the oil spill ‘crisis’ go to waste.

and it was passed barely with 8 GOP votes. I doubt those Republicans (except Cao and maybe Djou) will be with them this time around.

And there is no way that there will be 60 votes for the same version that passed the House in teh Senate, so the House will have to vote again.

is where this will go if there are different versions. The fact that HCR went back to the House was unusual. Strange things happen there…

have to approve the conference report, and Pelosi doesn’t have the votes to pass it there.

The only way she can get the votes is a. include it as part of a reconciliation bill with a bunch of other things, or b. pass it in the lame duck session (after the elections.)

several months ago about the Healthcare takeover? How did that turn out for us?

          • JamesSmith130

Pelosi had 219 Democrats for that bill in the first go-round, and only Cao voted for it from our side.

8 Repubs voted for cap-n-tax last year. I see only 2 doing so now, Cao and Djou. Without those 8 GOP votes, Pelosi is short, unless it is during the lame duck session. No non-retiring Democrat who voted no on cap-n-tax last year will vote yes now.

All it takes is the right crisis, (maybe an oil spill?), enough MSM spin with much high volume angst, and a whole lot of back room deals.

We can’t afford to take our eyes off the ball on this. Obama/Pelosi/Reid will make this happen no matter the cost.
