AW YEAH

Paul Ryan is dipping his toe a bit more in the pool of a potential POTUS run:

On Thursday evening, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan said yet again that he is not considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination. But when asked by Fox News’ Neil Cavuto whether he would change course from past rejections of a presidential bid, Ryan hesitated before saying, “Look, I think I want to see how this field develops.”…

Sources close to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus –- who is also from Wisconsin and is encouraging Ryan to run -– say that it is not just unilateral pressure from Priebus that is sparking rumors. They say Ryan is himself considering making a move

Further, Ryan delivered a speech on foreign policy Thursday night in Washington to the Alexander Hamilton Society, the kind of thing a prospective candidate for president just might do. That drew some raised eyebrows from Stephen Hayes, a Fox News and Weekly Standard contributor.

What a Christmas present this would be if President Congressman Ryan takes the plunge.

but there is a reason no congressman has won in 140 years.

I love the guy but he can’t win. He needs to be governor then run.

and this guy is as smart, articulate and likeable as they come. This election will be about the economy and spending and there is no better candidate than Ryan for these issues.

plus Ford came out of Congress although he was not tech elected by vote and he was VP until Nixon resigned. Then of course you have JFK who only had congressional experience.

In a way, Obama and Lincoln had similar career trajectories, as measured by length and venue of measured political experience.

The difference is that Lincoln did something. In Illinois he was famously part of the “Long Nine” in the legislature that moved the state capitol from Vandalia to Springfield.

In his one term in the US House of Representatives, he was famous as the author of the “Spot Resolution,” which would have made President Polk explain exactly where the Mexicans had attacked US forces, thus provoking the Mexican-American War, which still hasn’t been settled.

Obama is known in the Illinois legislature only for promoting “Motor-Voter” and opposing a bill that would have required medical workers to try to save babies who somehow survive abortion attempts, instead of allowing them to kill living babies.

Superficial similarities don’t amount to much.

but what does it have to do with my correcting the posters assertion that no one who only has congressional experience has been elected in 140 years. No one in their right mind would compare the idiot in office today to Lincoln. Simply stating that it has not been 140 year since someone has been elected that only served in the congress.
