Whoa. Obama summit a public distraction “legislative trick” to pass Obamacare via reconciliation says…an aide to Nancy Pelosi.
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | February 10th at 10:41 PM |
That certainly seems to be the case with this Washington Times article. Seems like an aide of Nancy Pelosi is admitting to this strategy. Personally, I hope beyond all else that the Dems go the reconciliation route. The GOP will be able to tie up the Senate right up to the November elections with endless amendments, parliamentary procedure and would swiss cheese the bill so | Read More »
The MSM starts to try to goad the GOP into Obama’s summit trap
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | February 10th at 09:21 AM |
Based on this article from Time that was broadcast from Yahoo, it looks as if the MSM is starting to do its part to pull Obama out of the dumps by scoring a big healthcare legislation victory. Their line of attack is using an ABC News/Washington Compost poll that shows Barack Obama’s approval rating at over 50% (snark) and that 56% of independents think that | Read More »
Confirmed: House GOP will not meet with Obama unless health care starts over from square one.
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | February 8th at 09:05 PM |
H/T Hot Air Best news I’ve seen today. Obama’s stunt has been called out. Earlier, I had hoped this would happen. It is going to be interesting what the White House is going to do now. Oh to be a fly on the wall in the White House Strategy room. Much profanity and GOP name calling I would presume.
Boehner and McConnell’s “Start Over” non-noegotiable kill shot
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | February 8th at 09:14 AM |
As you are probably aware, yesterday during the Super Bowl pre-game, President Obama is wanting televised bi-partisan meetings on Obamacare. Of course, he and the Democrats are resorting now to last measure desperate political traps and stunts to stave off the inevitable which is the death to President Obama’s signature issue. Such desperation takes ship in things like doing a 60 Minute interview with Katie | Read More »
Vote counting done. Bill Brady wins GOP governor primary pending Dillard decision to pursue recount.
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | February 3rd at 09:36 PM |
406 votes. Unbelievable. The GOP has to be happy with Pat Quinn winning his primary with a 25% job approval. This shapes up to be a very interesting election in Illinois with a downstate conservative GOP candidate facing off against a liberal representing the Chicago political machine. The big winner in this may be Mark Kirk because if Dillard concedes, Brady figures to haul in | Read More »
Stunner in Indiana. Former U.S. Senator Dan Coats comes out of retirement to challenge Evan Bayh.
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | February 2nd at 10:32 PM |
H/T Hedgehog Report If true and several sources are indicating this, this is a great get for the GOP as Coats is a very strong candidate. I guess Mike Pence will do just fine in the House. Coats is a former U.S. Senator in Indiana who retired in 1998. Coats took over Dan Quayle’s seat after Quayle ascended to the Vice Presidency. I actually like | Read More »
Snowe talking to Dems….again
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | January 29th at 05:57 PM |
Oh crap not again. Snowe says she won’t support a bill that goes through reconciliation. So is she going to be the 60th vote on a compromise bill? She had better not jump ship on us. Maybe she has an alterior motive to do so that benefits the GOP. The people are clear they want health care left alone to the people, not the government. | Read More »
Harry Reid turns into George Mitchell?
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | January 26th at 10:05 PM |
H/T Hot Air The GOP has threatened to shut down the Senate with infinite amendments. Now Harry Reid is saying that health care is no longer being worked on. Most Dem leaders are saying that they want to have a cooling off period apparently. However, I can’t help to think that this almost mirrors what George Mitchell said and did when Hillarycare died and was put | Read More »
Beau Biden will not run for Senate
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | January 25th at 10:02 AM |
Per the Associated Depressed. This comes on top of the Rasmussen poll this morning showing Mike Pence up on Evan Bayh this morning +3. Prospects are looking worse and worse for the Democrats as the 2010 mid terms near. The Scott Brown win is causing a stream of Democratic retirements and GOP upstart candidates to enter the 2010 political contest. Good times.
Incumbent Democrats resort to faking it toward the middle with humility to save their jobs.
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | January 21st at 10:17 AM |
DO NOT LET THESE TWO-FACERS GET AWAY WITH THIS. Each GOP challenger should remind the voters how these Democrats voted for a bill to socialize our health care industry, cap and trade, porkulus, etc. Democrats pray on people’s short memories. They will take one position only to take another. Barack Obama is notorious for this as well as other congressmen. Jim Webb was the first by throwing | Read More »
(Update #2) Mike Pence to challenge Evan Bayh for Senate?
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | January 20th at 12:06 AM |
There has been some talk of this for some time. Check out this Politico article from December. Bill Kristol floated this possibility and I think it is one that should be entertained. Pence or Mitch Daniels announcing would likely have Bayh go the way of Byron Dorgan. Now Pence is quite high on the House leadership ladder and this would seem to push this into the | Read More »
(UPDATE) This sent tingles down my leg.
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | January 18th at 01:22 PM |
Chris Matthews has followed suit to Stu Rothenberg and is predicting that Scott Brown will win tomorrow night. The look on Matthews face is just priceless. (H/T) NRO, Strata Sphere The three bellweather areas I believe Suffolk is alluding to are the routes that go north, south and west out of Boston that comprise the majority of the population in Massachusetts. Election Projection predicts Scott Brown to win on Tuesday.
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | January 17th at 05:16 PM |
Election Projection is a liberal poll watcher if memory serves me correctly. (Update: It looks like they are not after reading more of their posts.) They are now predicting Scott Brown to win on Tuesday. The last statement sums up the disbelief that is starting to permeate in Democrat circles: Election Projection has followed suit – who can argue with all the polling data giving Brown | Read More »
Mitch McConnell likes Dan Perrin’s strategy. (Updated)
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | December 23rd at 10:50 AM |
If McConnell does object, we must commend him on this one. It puts the Democrats in a terrible position. — Erick It is looking like Mitch McConnell will object to the appointment of conferees to create a formal conference that would attempt to reconcile the House and Senate versions of Obamacare. Harry Reid is likely to start screaming of the GOP being the party of | Read More »
RIP Obamacare?
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | December 10th at 03:00 PM |
The Huffington post is reporting that Pelosi is dropping the public option. Pelosi has also said that if health care doesn’t pass by Christmas then the American people will have a New Year’s Day present according to Politico. I’ve said it before. If Obamacare doesn’t pass by Christmas, no bill will pass. Very interesting developments in the last couple of hours. Also, Olympia Snowe is rejecting | Read More »
Reid and Obamacare on fumes
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | December 10th at 01:14 PM |
Mitch McConnell has denied Harry Reid’s request that the GOP drop their debate time so staffers and Senators can go home for the weekend. Reid also has a fundraiser that he wants to attend to in New Orleans (what about going to your own home state) because his re-election chances are in the crypt right now. In reality, Dingy Harry is using desperate measures to get | Read More »
The Thornvultures
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | November 21st at 09:16 PM |
I am reminded of the 1982 mini-series “The Thornbirds” starring Richard Chamberlain and Rachel Ward. “The thornbird at the end of its life impales itself upon a thorn. However, in it’s pain it sings the most beautiful song and the world stops to listen.” Fast forward to 2009. Another breed has come to fruition. It is the thornvulture. It is a foul, horribly corrupt bird that sucks the | Read More »
I WANT NAMES!!! Coburn gets torpedoed by friendly fire
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | November 19th at 11:19 PM |
According to the AP, Tom Coburn in an interview has backed off from having the Senate bill read on the floor after being pressured by unnamed GOP colleagues whom would have assisted in having the bill read. Coburn’s reasoning was that aside from pressure from the GOP to step down was that Americans would have a hard time understanding the Senate bill line by line. This | Read More »
(Update) The One Year War
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | November 8th at 10:53 PM |
Update: According to The Plum Line, 41 liberal congressmen will oppose any amendment in the final bill that bans abortion funding. Debbie Wasserman-Schulz vows that the Stupak amendment will NOT be in the final bill. Ed Morrissey beautifully illustrates the task ahead here. As we all know, the House passed the Pelosi/Obamacare abomination late last night. The lynch pin that Pelosi used to get this | Read More »
(Update –PASSES) Stupak Amendment going down?
By: RealQuiet (Diary) | November 7th at 09:20 PM |
Sounds like Mr. Stupak wasn’t too happy about getting smoked out. Curious that we can’t get a gauge on how strong Stupak’s support is. Lib Dems trying to marginalize Stupak? The way the language reads is kind of vague. It says that the noes won out on not adopting the amendment. Someone clarify this for me as I’m not a politician. It’s going to be | Read More »
