Stephen Colbert was the guest of honor last month at a charity roast where President-Elect Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, took his turn at the podium and took a shot at Alaska Governor Sarah Palin:
“We’re all scared of Stephen Colbert. We’re scared of Stephen Colbert in the same way Sarah Palin is scared of a geography bee.”
He could have quipped:
“We’re scared of Stephen Colbert in the same way Barack Obama is scared of a civics quiz.”
But the audience probably wouldn’t have known what he was talking about.
Emmanuel’s line also could have been:
“We’re scared of Stephen Colbert in the same way Joe Biden is scared of an American History exam.”
They probably wouldn’t have gotten that one, either.
Perhaps Rahmbo should be scared of what Patrick Fitzgerald may have on tape in the same way that David Axlerod should be scared of what tunes Rod Blagojevich may be singing to Fitzgerald’s investigators.
