Bidding Wars: They Want Sarah

Paul Bedard, posting on Washington Whispers, the U.S. News blog, says the latest buzz is that ABC “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos and CNN’s Larry King are in “a bidding war” for an interview with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The two talking heads aren’t the only ones who would like to get a ratings boost from a Palin appearance:

“I do receive — our office receives — hundreds if not thousands of requests to either speak or participate in something,” Palin said. “We turn them down for the most part…”

The governor has meetings set for this weekend in the the nation’s capitol with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and her state’s lobbyist to discuss the stimulus bill. Perhaps she can convince McCaonnell to grow a spine. She also hopes to meet with President Obama, as both he and she will be in attendance at Saturday’s Alfalfa dinner.

Palin Smear FAIL

From here, complete with mocking artwork.

Sarah Palin Goes to Inappropriate Events

Because Sarah Palin is never really going to go away (now that she has a book deal and all), so just get used to the fact that the Wasilla hillbilly is here to stay. But at least she’s going an original route: Who would have thought that a Civil War revisionist scenario was the way to go for Palin ’12??

Traveling with one of her ladies-in-waiting and invited by a rich GOPnik, she’ll be at Saturday’s invite-only/political mandarins-only Alfalfa Club dinner in DC. This club began back aways to honor Gen. Robert E. Lee whom, you may recall, did a little something in the Civil War. Why it exists, I don’t know. What it does, I don’t know. I only know it’s too exclusive to include someone like me and is so high-powered that sitting US presidents attend, which means Obama should show. Anyway, Sarah will be there, and that’s meaningful because this lady may only leave the frozen tundra two days a month.

Wow, who knew that Alaskans, geographically as far away from the South as anyone, would still be looking forward to a confederate democracy? Maybe it’s because when the South rises again and succeeds from the union, they would pick a white woman for president over a black man any day.

Reproduced in its entirety to preserve what will probably be deleted. The comments are a larf too.

Can I just say BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Research fail! Blog fail! Fill in the blank fail! And oh so utterly typical.

MSM hack to Pence: Obama bought you drinks – why won’t you support socialism?

Bipartisanship, Hope-n-Change style, means buying them a drink before you .....

MSLSD airhead Norah O’Donnell is offended that conservative stalwart and house GOP leader Mike Pence is not swooning for The One™, in this interview found here :

President Obama is making an effort to reach across the aisle, inviting some of you guys up to the White House for drinks tonight. And yet you’re promising overwhelming opposition from Republicans. Why the pushback? [emphasis by O'Donnell]

FYI – if you continue following the video, after Pence pummels her for being a twit, she then tries to get him to denounce Limbaugh, an effort he deftly turns back on her. So which is it anyway, Norah? Should we Republicans ignore Rush like Obama says, or should we denounce him like you say?

WHEN will Obama address the crime problem in this nation??

Inhofe: Al Gore Desperate Con Man

(Via Drudge) Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) blasted hot-air Gore in ice-cold DC yesterday following the grilling on Capitol Hill, describing Gore’s performance as “desperate”. Said Inhofe:

“They almost had to cancel it because of freezing weather, and last year they did cancel it because of cold weather.”

“I’d say he has a real serious problem. But he’s already made his $100 million, so I don’t think he needs to worry too much about it. But the science and logic are on our side, and we are winning.”

The bold is the gold. Awesome.

Putin Warns Against State Excesses

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who has overseen the creation of government-backed national industry champions, surprised participants at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday by warning against excessive state intervention in the economy.

“The state’s role was brought to omnipotence in the Soviet Union in the last century,” Putin said in his opening address to the forum, which aims to debate a post-crisis world. “It finally led to our economy being totally noncompetitive.

“We paid dearly for that lesson. I am confident that no one would want to retry that.”

Putin, whose government is spending tens of billions of dollars in a rescue package, urged businesses to seek their own solutions to the economic hardships, saying that state aid is exhaustible and not always effective.

“All Form, No Substance”

The Obama approach to the GOP in a nutshell. I don’t see what the point is in going to meet with Republicans if all the President is going to do is say “no” to any and all requests for compromise. But it is educational to see how this divisive, partisan, and polarizing President lives up to all of the accusations that were made about his immediate predecessor in office.
