David Brooks and David Axelrod : just get a room already

[h/t the Baseball Crank]

David Brooks is the NYT’s “pet conservative” columnist – the kind that vote for Obama, scream that conservatives have taken over the Republican Party (don’t I wish) and that religious nuts (the kind who read Scriptures, live by a moral code, and give to charities, not suicide bombers) will be the death of us all – you know, THAT kind of conservative.

David Axelrod is a Senior White House Advisor, and is Bambi’s speech writer, permanent campaign manager, and overall right-hand man.

Does this sound like a Hate or Date setup? It is….

At The Week magazine’s (typical sleazy left-rag) “Opinion Awards” banquet Monday, Axelrod presents Brooks with the “Columnist of the Year” award, and MY OH MY, is the estrogen flowing

Axelrod recalled how, once upon a time, when he was a young reporter at the Chicago Tribune and Brooks was an even younger scribe at the City News Bureau in Chicago, Brooks often said he aspired to be Axelrod.

“He way overshot the runway,” Axelrod swooned of his former protégé.

“I did want to be David Axelrod,” conceded Brooks, as he accepted the award from his former idol.

There’s a Prius taxi waiting right outside, boys….

Barack Obama on Scare Force One?

That’s the thought that Little Miss Attila’s postulating, at least. I’m not what you’d call convinced, but I am hearing rumors (which, to be fair, are being denied [H/T: Instapundit]) that there were campaign contributors on-board. Which is, unfortunately, the sort of boneheaded move that I’ve already come to expect from this administration*, although in this case I’d really like to be proven wrong.

So I don’t think that there’s any harm in re-releasing the President’s schedule for Monday, as well as the flight records for that particular trip. Just to clear things up.

PS: And, oh yes: the photos. The damned things cost us $329,000 to take, so let’s see them.

*Note, I do not say ‘this President.’ This time.

NYC – can you hear me now?

Maybe it’s time you got the message: the Democrats do not love you, do not care about you, are not taking care of you, and in fact, once they are elected they never give you a second thought.

So, maybe it’s time to start voting for the ones that do care about you. And that’s the party that has kept you safe for over seven years.

Some thoughtless deeds are just slips. Simple, absent-minded brain freezes. Leaving your cellphone home, forgetting to get milk on the way home. We all do these. I bet even Democrats have small slips.

But some thoughtless deeds are so crass, so inconsiderate, so pointedly self-absorbed, that it can’t simply be a slip. It reveals a heart that simply does not care what you think, what you need, or what your happiness requires.

The Air Force One tower-buzzing incident of yesterday (4/27) was such an incident. Obviously.

People in Middle America want freedom. You in NYC want safely from planes flying into your buildings. The Republican Party is the home for both of us. So how about this new idea……

Vote Republican!

*Second* flyby photo shoot now being ‘reconsidered.’

(Updates with sources saying White House plans for a second photo shoot in Washington, D.C. being reconsidered)

Italics mine. Background here; video here.

And to answer Glenn Reynolds: You think that they were actually thinking?

How droll.

Quote of the Day

Sen. Kit Bond (R-MO), responding to a question about Obama’s support for Global Warming:

“That’s why I campaigned for Sarah Palin and her running mate.”

So people in wheelchairs are being arrested in DC today!

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/04/police-arrestin.html

“Police have started to arrest some of the disabled protestors picketing outside the White House right now. Almost all of the 400 demonstrators are in wheelchairs.

“Shame on you, Obama is a liar! Shame on you, Obama is a liar!” some are chanting.”

Sometimes the headlines just write themselves!

Iowahawk announces winner of the 2009 Earth Week Virtual Cruise-In.

It was a tie for me between the B-17 and the Spitfire – I’m a sentimentalist – but in the end, it was Iowahawk’s contest, and his criteria:

Yet, neither of those yardsticks captures the true spirit of the Cruise, which is really about attitude. It’s that menacing glimmer that warns Gaia: my pimp hand is strong. The sassy insouciance that invites the moralist biddies and prim religious scolds of the green movement to Kiss. My. A*s.

…makes it impossible to quibble with his choice of 2009 Iowahawk Earth Week Virtual Cruise-In Grand Champion Carbonator. It’s a well-deserved honor.

Well-deserved.

So Civil Libertarians this is the CHANGE you wanted?

http://tiny.cc/hXDSg

“The Obama administration is asking the Supreme Court to overrule long-standing law that stops police from initiating questions unless a defendant’s lawyer is present, another stark example of the White House seeking to limit rather than expand rights.”

What you all failed to realize is President Bush BENT OVER BACKWARDS to make sure what he did could stand a Court Challenge The One does not feel he has to because you ALL SUPPORTED HIM!

An Administrative Suggestion

In most of my recent diaries here at RedState, I’ve found that when it comes time to assign “Categories”, I end up checking both “Business & Economy” and “Government”.

Given that within the last 100 days, “Government” has essentially effected a takeover of the private sector, would it be more efficient to combine these two checkboxes into one?

This is something we could do to eliminate redundancy and save bandwidth. The Dear Leader says we must all make sacrifices.
