The Democrat-owned legislature, led by closet Democrat Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, first spent extravagantly on lefty pet programs, unions, and massive outlays to give aid to illegal residents. Then in order to pay for it, they proposed to the citizens an array of tax hikes and closet tax hikes to fund them.
The people of California answered with a resounding ‘no’ yesterday, by an average of 65-35 rejecting the 5 propositions.
I like the sound of that. The people have spoken.
How cute that when conservatives object to our nation’s socialism make-over underway under the Obama regime, the media and other Dems like to toss us ‘the people have spoken’, because Obama got 53% of the vote.
But when the people speak (65-35), and it’s not to their liking, then either a leftist judge strikes it down [Props 8 (passed 52-48) and 187 (passed 59-41) in CA, for example], or the media whine like pigs.
The LA Times headline: California voters exercise their power — and that’s the problem
The New York Times: Calif. Voters Reject Measures to Keep State Solvent
While mostly I think California voters are stupid enough to vote these hucksters into power and largely deserve what they get, I am encouraged by what I see here. Maybe the light comes on. Fellas, there’s another way to bring your government back to the land of sanity.
In 2010, look for the person with a ‘D’ by his name. Then vote for the other guy.
