Could Ken with an explosive vest be next?

According to Ed Morrissey at Hot Air, the validity of the emails has been confirmed by Dr. Phil Jones at the CRU, author of some of the emails. Taken at face value, some of the content would suggest that staff at the CRU has been actively “fudging” the data, the better to support their Global Warming assumptions conclusions.

Given the Hadley-CRU’s status as one of the leading repositories of climate data, allegations of data manipulation could be particularly damaging to their integrity, and to the Global Warming religion cause in general.

The careful reader may recall that the Hadley-CRU is the same center involved earlier this year in the “The Dog Ate My Raw Data” controversy, previously blogged in these pages.

Nearly two years into the recession, opinion about which political party is responsible for the severe economic downturn is shifting, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday morning indicates that 38 percent of the public blames Republicans for the country’s current economic problems. That’s down 15 points from May, when 53 percent blamed the GOP. According to the poll 27 percent now blame the Democrats for the recession, up 6 points from May. Twenty-seven percent now say both parties are responsible for the economic mess.

So keep reminding people about just who’s been in charge of the purse strings since January of 2007, and the whole blessed government since January of 2009. Every little bit helps, and we’ve still got a year to correct the historical record.

PS: It is no doubt rude of me to point out that this outbreak video represents two years’ worth of a Democratic-controlled Congress, and one year’s worth of a Democratic-controlled government. At least, I hope that it is, seeing that we were promised an unemployment rate at least two points below the one that we’re having now. My being allowed to be rude seems like a bare minimum in the realm of recompense.

A federal judge on Wednesday afternoon ruled that former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson can stay out of jail pending the appeal of his conviction. Appeals generally take about a year to complete but could take longer.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III of Alexandria, Va. said Jefferson’s challenge to his conviction is “substantial of question appeal that could result in a new trial or reversal.”

Jefferson will be kept under electronic monitoring and restricted from traveling outside the country.

Mr. Gore apparently thinks that we live on the surface of Sol; as Ed Morrissey notes, this temperature range is more accurate for stellar cores than for terrestrial ones. Ed also notes that this is unlikely to destroy Gore’s credibility, which is a conclusion that I reluctantly share. If his acolytes have swallowed everything else that the man says, they’ll swallow this, too…
