This is somewhat old, but I don't normally read Oliver Willis so this passed me by until I got an email from someone alerting me to it. I really feel like it's probably a bad idea to respond, but here goes.
Apparently, Oliver is unfamiliar with how Kryptonite is supposed to work, with respect to harming Superman, which is surprising given that he makes reference to it in his masthead. I am not really a comic book reader, so I assume Thomas or Moe will show up here to correct me if I am wrong, but I'm fairly certain that the baisc idea is that Superman was just a regular old guy back on his home planet of Krypton until he came here to Earth and our yellow sun turned him into a superhero. Kryptonite is harmful to him because it's made out of material from Krypton, and when he gets around it, it interferes with the action of the sun and just makes him a regular guy again, and he doesn't handle that well while he's here on Earth.
So, really, I'm not *puzzled* by his masthead at all. Like I said, he seems to have it about right:
I guess, under Willis' theory, that stupid is just normal old stupid back on its home planet, but when it enters a strange environment (intelligence?) it gains superhuman powers? Under this theory, Oliver Willis is then a... *ahem*... piece of planet stupid, which makes stupid just be regular old stupid again.
Like I said. This seems about right.
Hope that clears things up.
You can all go back to not caring now. :-)
