On CNN before Late Edition, newsreader Fredricka Whitfield announced that Tom Reynold's had bailed on George Stephanopoulos, refusing to appear on This Week because of "flu-like symptoms. She portrayed this as proof that the Mark Foley scandal still haunted the Republicans.
In truth, Reynolds was not scheduled to appear on TW this morning. Reynolds had, however, cancelled an appearance on LE complaining of "flu-like symptoms." This was on October 8, nine days after the ABC finally broke the Foley story. Three weeks have passed since that time. Steph's guest today was to be John Boehner, who did not share the flu-like symptoms affecting Reynolds three weeks ago.
