RS 3.0 Search

Am I blind, or did I miss the explanation?

I enjoy the new 3.0 RS site. It’s had a while to mature and get tweaked in speed and stability. Yet, I tried looking for a Search feature. I was confused when I found none. Did I miss a conversation already posted about the lacking Search feature?

I looked through the Archive sections and no Search…, hmm, how can I find a topic I’m interested in that isn’t a current “Hot Topic”? I may be whining, but to the admins at RedState, please add a Search feature. A silly, but quick idea would be to create a script that takes a Search string and throws it over the wall to Google with the “site:redstate.com” tag which isolates the search to the RS site. Sure, I can do this manually, but what fun is that and besides, my fingers are tired at the end of the work day.

    Haven’t seen you for quite a while.

    I’ve never been able to find the search feature either.

      I’ve enjoyed many of your comments though NT. With the search missing, I felt I needed to speak up again :)

      I can’t even stay logged in if I close the window.

        When I am logged in, the comments do not refresh. If I open the site in a new window, not logged in of course, I see the new comments. The comments are posting but they are not updating in the recent comments list if you are logged in. At least that is what I am experiencing.

          `[Shameless plea] Sorry to hear about the problems. Maybe Search is asking for too much, too soon ;)

          If folks recommend this diary, maybe it would last long enough for the admins to see and we can collect a few more issues that need attention. [/Shameless plea]`

            I did notice that if I go to the top of the diary and right click on the diary’s title and open in a new tab (I’m using Google Chrome) that the Comments section does get updated. It may require a few new opened tabs, but it seems to be a workaround.

            PS, I am and remain logged in during that workaround.

          If you’re logged in the comments and diaries are hours or days old. It is impossible to carry on any sort of discussion. I’ll give money if money is what it takes to sh__can this mess and put up a working site.

            at this point I am just trying to figure out why my experience with 3.0 is so strange. If I navigate to the site, I am always logged out, but if I click on a diary that I have posted in before, I am logged in. I hope some computer geek types read these comments and offer some suggestions.

            I am not criticizing your anger Achance, I have been there, now I am past the anger part. I really do think we need to have a proactive thread, even a sticky, where we can all discuss the issues and maybe someone in charge could respond and or help us out. I really think this is all we are asking for.

            There seem to be two camps right now that are not helping each other. One camp says 3.0 sucks, and the other camp says stop complaining and respect those that created it. That has been done to death. Let’s just come together and discuss problems and HELP each other! we are supposed to be friends here.

            the first leg of my stool is 3.0 sucks..

            the second leg of my RS stool…is people need to quit creating so much DRAMA…

            And the third leg of my stool..I broke off and I am using it to beat off the Zombies

            with the hope of fixes is not drama. it seems some, not you specialist, get offended when issues are brought up, that is no way to help this site or community.

            But…I must say the speed has improved greatly..

            And if people are having log in problems…stop using Chrome and IE 6.0

            Firefox works great

            to suggest an improvement. I like RedState. I don’t think it sucks, but there are plenty of things to complain about. Was RS 2.0 better than 3.0? That’s a good question imho, currently I think 2.0 was better and one of the reasons why is because we had a Search feature ;)
