The Twittering Machine

Change 37K Users Hung-up On.

The Empty Left's Social Network

“Thanks @BarackObama for pushing @RoyBlunt over 11,000 followers today!” tweeted Amber Marchand, communications director for Sen. Roy Blunt, (R-Mo.).

(HT: New York Post)

So much for the old canard that the Dems own cyberspace. The Dear Leader took to his Twitter Account to generate pressure on members of the GOP Senatorial and Congressional caucuses that he viewed as easy marks. People like Senator Lisa M-U-R-K-O-W-S-K-I, who most logical observers consider a de-facto Leftist, were to be deluged with tweets urging her to “compromise”. (See also, fold, capitulate, cough up the ball, bravely run away, et al.)

Instead, the President got yet another informal measure of just how unable he is to further Barack the Vote. 37,000 users quit his twitter feed. Had it been Facebook instead, they wouldn’t have remained Barack Obama’s friends.

This demonstrates the fact that his all talk, no leadership style is bothering more and more Americans. Mein Obama’s White House propaganda korps has increasingly become like a bucket-shop brokerage that bugs the struggling middle-class family during the dinner hour with some bunko investment scheme. People ignore him at first and then, as he increasingly nags them, they take the necessary steps to forcibly tune out his atonal, condescending drone.

It may well be that the activist Left knows the Internet Tubes better than we do. Any educated person younger than the age of thirty vastly understands these things better than I. However, modern media is very similar to the traditional means of communication in a very important manner. Both the messenger and the content still matter.

Effective communicators ignite the soul. They either tell sterling truths, or they bowdlerize it skillfully and indulge in what Joseph Goebbels termed “The Big Lie.” But The Progressive Left has nothing legitimate left to offer. They no longer can even scare people. They just bug the crap out of tired, frustrated people during dinner. The redeeming thing about Obama’s use of Twitter is the 140 character limit. When you expound upon the contents of an utterly empty soul, it’s best to keep it pithy.

Someone at biggovt told me about this response to the BO twitter debacle.
    LOL!

Rumor has it that sometimes he uses ALL 140 characters.

    Deep thoughts; deep thoughts.

albeit in the hands of a nasty klutz. I understand a little piggie from the NY Times e mailed some advice to her pals in the WH on a tech issue. Unsure of the reception there as they were probably all busy soiling the furniture. Must be a symbiotic thing.
The O and his puppeteers, don’t know who’s dumber, are frantic to dig the lower depths, to uncover new layers of scum, to go, as a TV show had it, where no man has gone before.
And remember, it’s not even 2012 yet. Get ready.

for an iPhone and a Twitter account.

    That is all.

    Great post!

I like that! But let’s call Reid’s response exactly what it is: a torpedo, not a “plan”. Gut the bill sent back to the House and send over your suggestion, then call a news conference with a strong point made that the Senate, the Dems and the Blamer-in-Chief have all failed to do any work at all.

Those who can, do (the House did!). Those who can’t, snipe, Twitter, blow smoke, and throw flash-bangs.

He said something along the lines of Obama has always gotten anything he ever wanted, with his legions screaming racist etc. at anyone who dared challenge him, but now that he can’t seem to get his way here he’s completely at a loss as to what to do and how to act.

That seems to be right on target to me. He got pretty much gifted through college with people looking out for him. Then as a community organizer all he had to do was demand people give him money to help po’ black folk. Hey it didn’t help those folks at all, but it sure made a career for him. It greased the path for getting his ticket punched with a “present” tag on the way to DC.

Then in his only challenge in his first two years, he could offer whatever bribes – oops I mean money for special state/local projects – were needed and let Harry and Nancy lie and dirty-trick their way to victory with Obamacare.

But now he’s got Reid opposing him in a way, though the press of course never plays it up. Reid is trying to protect his position as majority leader by protecting the Dems up in 2012. He’s in bed with Obama on getting it off the table until after November 2012, but he’s completely given up on the tax hikes that Obama is still desperately clinging to.

Reid’s plan is calculated on current law, and under current law, several tax breaks and tax reductions are set to expire either at the end of 2011 or 2012.

Per Hot Air, “The 2001?2003 Bush tax cuts are set to expire at the end of 2012. And some business tax breaks, ?death tax? cuts, and the patch for the Alternative Minimum Tax expire at the end of 2011. Reid?s proposal assumes that Congress will not act to renew or extend those expiring tax breaks.”

      http://hotair.com/archives/2011/07/30/reid-changing-debt-ceiling-plan-to-woo-republicans/

This amounts to a $3.8 trillion tax increase, plus it gives Obama almost unilateral power to raise the debt ceiling again in 2012 if he chooses to.

And on top of that, rumor is that Reid is trying to add a tax hike trigger to his not-quite-yet-written bill. THAT will go over real well with all these Republicans who were ready to vote for it.

Suggested compromise: They leave out tax hike triggers and we leave out spending cut triggers. Oh, that means we’d need a new vote when Obama hits the limit? So be it.

Obama might want to think twice before using the bully pulpit to manipulate and scare people.

What an epic goof by Obama!

    • Alpip

Obama is experiencing something he’s never felt in his life: people are rejecting his ideas. He’s not had to face such rejection and he’s beginning to act like a 3 year old in the mall, throwing himself to the floor and yelling at the top of his lungs to get his way!

      • runner12

arrogance thought that if he told the American people what to do, they woukd fall in line. It backfired big time and now he looks ridiculous.

But I agree with your temper tantrum analogy, the man is acting like a spoiled monarch.

I think Senator Mike Lee called him “His Imperial Majesty” on Hannity yesterday. I about drove off the road with laughter. We need more guys like Sen. Lee.

The democrats have looked at the internet and social media as the perfect outlet for left-wing propaganda. From Stalin all the way down to obama the left and communists alike have always trying new ways of controlling the gullible mass with their lies. And lets face it they have done a great job up to this point. The problem with leftists and communists alike is the internet just doesn’t work for them it works for everyone. Gone are the days of a totally controlled media we have now entered a phase were everyday people can find the truth right from the source, no more spoon fed news from the government lackeys, we know where the news is and we can get firsthand accounts of the worlds happening. The democRATs have tried in vein to control the message but are finding it no longer works. America is waking up much to distain of the government elite and their media cronies. Propaganda does work for a while, but those who indulge in its output are often mesmerize by it themselves. They keep pushing a dead message or idea until it becomes so unreal to the masses that the message is lost and looked upon as nothing but the lies that they are. Lets look at the corporate jets message, once or twice maybe but everyday for ten days people say “this guy has the best corporate jet ever” the lie is exposed as so the hypocrisy. They believe if you throw enough mud it will stick. Truth is, throw enough mud and it starts to fall off in a big pile of truth.

The LA Times did an article on it and quoted my sister’s tweet. I was happily surprised to see they didn’t edit out her #Cain2012 hashtag.
