People hold varying opinions on whether Global Warming is occurring. They differ on whether it is a cataclysmic occurrence if it happens. People hold radically different opinions on what should and what can be done about the issue if it were to become a problem. However, I’d argue that anyone not infected with a pseudo-religious zealotry would be concerned if they knew the extent to which the US government agency that would be in charge of fighting Global Warming was a corrupt, disingenuous cesspool that held itself aloof from any pretext of being subject to the law. While being corrupt, the EPA also manages to be self-righteous. It was PJ O’Rourke who once argued that there is nothing more frightening than a knave with a moral justification for their cause.

The EPA internalizes a grandiose sense of mission. Their leadership talks boldly about going out and crucifying the unbelievers. They feel a smug sense of guaranteed self-righteousness. If we don’t know why we nail some particular oil exec to a couple of boards and put him up for the night, that son-of-a sea-biscuit sure does. This encourages them to openly lie to the unwashed masses. When you’re out there fighting for the truth; what’s an occasional exaggeration to help a noble cause? Michael Crichton offers us an example below.

In 1993, the EPA announced that second-hand smoke was “responsible for approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths each year in nonsmoking adults,” and that it ” impairs the respiratory health of hundreds of thousands of people.” In a 1994 pamphlet the EPA said that the eleven studies it based its decision on were not by themselves conclusive, and that they collectively assigned second-hand smoke a risk factor of 1.19. (For reference, a risk factor below 3.0 is too small for action by the EPA. or for publication in the New England Journal of Medicine, for example.) Furthermore, since there was no statistical association at the 95% confidence limits, the EPA lowered the limit to 90%. They then classified second-hand smoke as a Group-A Carcinogen. This was openly fraudulent science, but it formed the basis for bans on smoking in restaurants, offices, and airports. California banned public smoking in 1995. Soon, no claim was too extreme. By 1998, the Christian Science Monitor was saying that “Second-hand smoke is the nation’s third-leading preventable cause of death.” The American Cancer Society announced that 53,000 people died each year of second-hand smoke. The evidence for this claim is nonexistent. In 1998, a Federal judge held that the EPA had acted improperly, had “committed to a conclusion before research had begun”, and had “disregarded information and made findings on selective information.”

In other words, they blatantly b***-s*****d the “settled science” and then regulated as if the male bovine scatology was the purest rosewater of undeniable truth. They fight the good fight, so who cares if they actually know what they are talking about? And if one their noble puritans occasionally strays, it’s not so big a deal in the context of the greater jihad.

I mean really. Do we seriously care if some EPA employee has one or two (or, oh…7,000) porno files on a computer? What do you suggest we do, Fra Torquemada; crucify the poor Schlubb? Well, it’s a little worse than one loser jerk collecting Great American Artwork. Porno is a valid moral indicator. · Criminal activities in the award, performance and payment of funds under EPA contracts, grants and other assistance agreements to individuals, companies and organizations (for example, fraud, bribery, conflict of interest, etc.).
· Alleged criminal conduct or serious administrative misconduct by EPA employees (for example, time fraud, travel fraud, ethics violations, abuse of authority, etc.).
· Threats directed against EPA employees, facilities and assets, including acts of violence committed in EPA facilities.
· Theft or abuse of government property.

· Criminal activity or serious misconduct affecting the integrity of EPA programs that could erode the public trust (for example, impersonation of EPA officials; counterfeiting or misuse of EPA official insignia, logos or credentials; and scientific research misconduct).
· Intrusions into and attacks against the EPA’s computer network, as well as incidents of hijacking EPA computers and/or systems, and the use of outside computers to commit fraud against the EPA.

This is from an agency that feels perfectly entitled to tell the rest of us we are dirty, impure and need to be crucified if we don’t live our lives in a carbon neutral fashion. Thus it comes as no surprise that President Obama had already decided what he would do with the latest National Climate Assessment before the report was even signed, approved and issued. This is about what people should expect from a corrupt amoral bureaucracy that considers the “science” (if any) a fig leaf to cover up the fact that they already know everything regardless of what the truth may be. Thus, the EPA is a filth-rhymed cesspool breeding blood-sucking mosquitoes because they follow the example being set by the guy up there at the top.
