Re Mandatory Voting: Just How Much Can They Make Us Care?

Let's Make These Guys Vote!
Let’s Make These Guys Vote!

Can the government make me care? No. But they can darn sure make you act like it. How so, you may ask? America is a free country? Only because our current indebtedness vastly exceeds anything we could claim as equity. You are not free. That died when the Obamacare Individual Mandate was ruled constitutional by Chief Justice Roberts and fellow Constitution-Haters in black. If the government can “tax” you for refusing to engage in certain transactions, why can’t this practice be expanded without any loss of generality to any behavior they choose to force you into? We’d better figure out a why soon. Our Feckless Leader is already talking about how wonderful it would be if voting was mandatory.

His wife, Michelle was magnificently right. Barack Obama will not allow you to be apathetic. He will probably attempt to “tax” you if you do not vote. This, not the idiocy in health insurance markets, is the true negative externality of Chief Justice Roberts’ Dred Scott Decision for the 21st Century. Now [mc_name name=’Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’R000595′ ] does a really nice job making the moral case against this Stalinist garbage. He points out obvious common sense below.

“Look, first, I don’t put anything past him,” Mr. Rubio said on Fox News’ “Hannity” program. “I mean, there are a lot of things that have already happened that I never thought I would see, and so this would not surprise me if indeed that’s the way they move forward on it. But here’s the point he refuses to point out or that he misses: not voting is also a legitimate choice that some people make,” Mr. Rubio continued. “I wish more people would participate in politics, too, but that is their choice — that is the choice of living in a free society.”

Yes, Mr. Rubio, it can be morally argued that withdrawing in condign disgust from an awful and cynical slate of candidates is not a form ennui or shirking. It can be a very legitimate form of protest. Political MGTOW can be judged as an articulate, valid protest against the corrupt monochromic slab that is modern polity. If I deem my vote to be a reward that a politician wins for offering a compelling and intelligent plan and vision for the future then I possibly shouldn’t vote if both sides suck. But that brings us to the crux here. What is [mc_name name=’Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’R000595′ ] prepared to do to make the bad man stop?

And [mc_name name=’Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’R000595′ ], if he wants to step up and fight this good fight, had better have an answer. Mandatory voting is the ultimate weapon to unleash Demotism. The president claims this would take the money out of politics? What a joke. Occupy Wall Street was supposedly a populist movement. It was bankrolled to the hilt or it never would have successfully pooped in the park. Take the money spent on befouling Zuccotti Park; and you’ve taken a nice, happy chunk out of the student loan debt problem that these people were complaining about in the first place.

The people who spend the money will herd their masses to the poll. They will tell the ignorant and alliterate how to vote. They will threaten them with the losses of things they care about if they do not vote the way they are instructed. Goldman Sachs, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg; all of those people will be smart enough to derive a CER that tells them a cost per vote. When it is profitable to buy the vote, they’ll turn out their mob the way Ancient Roman Patricians turned out their people on the sportula. Mandatory voting is simply a mechanism to herd the cattle into the abattoir.

When Barack Obama bemoans the evil of money in politics; he bemoans the fact that he lives in a functional Democracy. Henry VIII, Mary Queen of Scots, those folks never had to debate campaign finance reform. If you can point your finger at Anne Boleyn and have her shortened by a head; it gets much cheaper to maintain political coalitions. You just don’t get all the whinging anymore. But what Barack Obama fails to understand about Demotism is that not even he will get to drive the train.

Mandatory voting consigns the nation to mob rule. The mob brought you in. It can take you back out on a slab. The Visigoth Holiday will always be funded in full. Your government falls, your cities burn your civilization quickly accumulates damage and ruin the day those EBT balances ever fall below an acceptable comfort zone.

Democracy works when the electorate educates itself, cares about the future of the nation and makes an informed decision based upon conscious study of the alternatives. The suffrage should not be bestowed lightly, and it certainly shouldn’t be crammed upon the uncaring or the unwilling at knife point. And besides, worst of all for the current Democratic Party; this entire scheme would be totally unenforceable without universal voter ID.
