It’s Time For The Right To Move Past The Hillary Rosen Gaffe

The Hillary Rosen gaffe is a gift to Obama.

Why?

Because it buys Obama a few days of not having to talk about high unemployment, soaring gas prices, and a crushing national debt. Obama would like nothing more than to keep the debate over the “war on women” going until November. Furthermore, very few people care what some third string CNN contributor says anyway. Sure, she’s visited the White House 35 times over the past 3 years. Outside of political junkies, how many people are actually aware of that fact?

Mitt Romney is not going to win the election by getting in the mud with the left on gender issues. It’s time for Mitt and his surrogates to switch the focus back to the issues that matter.

But it’s more than that. This has shown many independent women how out of touch the Obama administration is. They downplay our “knowledge” on the economy because they don’t even realize just how big a deal the rising costs are to regular families, many of whom have SAHPs.

If Romney can use this to show how he cares about our families and how all the policies from the left really hurt families he may have a chance. If he leaves it as just a gender issue, then yes, it’s a loser.

….. we should tuck it safely away for any conversation the left starts about the “War on Women”.

And the economy, rising gas prices, weak recovery, etc. aren’t going anywhere. I have enjoyed watching Democrats squirm the last few days, particularly Jay Carney’s pathetic excuses (“I personally know 3 Hilary Rosens”, etc.)

  • izoneguy

You are right – we need to be quite now to hear Rosen make a bigger idiot out of herself. The woman does not understand why she should keep her big yapper shut.

  • APA Guy

I have no intention of letting them off the hook that easily…and neither does anyone I know within conservative circles and/or the party.

  • rightwingnut2

…had said it, it could be fruitful in the months to come. In fact, they took the opportunity to express their “outrage” at Rosen’s comments by throwing her under the bus. Most people don’t know who this woman is.

I’m not suggesting that it was a mistake to try to score some points, but the gender debate is filled with landmines.

  • APA Guy

…along with another suspicious character (noprisoners49) either telling those on this site to either let go of an issue that will haunt Obama through November or go sour on Mitt Romney…the likely GOP nominee.

Your motives are suspect at this point.

  • APA Guy

Hilary Rosen has visited the White House THIRTY-FIVE (35) TIMES. Was it for the free calendars?

You are fooling no one, “rightwingnut2″. Your motives here are, at minimum, suspect.

  • Viet71

Your suspicions are warranted. It’s getting to be like whack-a-mole, except that sincere anti-Romneyists like garfield are getting confused with the Operation Hilarity interlopers.

  • APA Guy

Their site, their rules and all that :)

  • Jack_Savage

What MSNBC host posted these comments here at RedState?

“If Ronald Reagan were anonymous with the same track record, he would be laughed out of the tea party today.”

“But once (George Bush) came to power, the neo-cons had already staked out his positions for him.”

“Moms who choose not to work are putting their children first, unlike less traditional, over-educated, career-obsessed women. The reason this is a good tactic is because Romney can cut into Obama

I should have to do this, but here you go….

My Disqus profile, including 3800 comments at Conservatives4Palin: Link to this: http://disqus.com/Right_Wingnut/

I’ve been fighting to get a conservative nominated for the past few years. Apparently it isn’t in the cards, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to keep my mouth shut when I disagree with something.

  • APA Guy

That proves nothing but that you know how to find conservative sites. What you’re posting here is very, very suspicious…like this:

“Furthermore, very few people care what some third string CNN contributor says anyway. Sure, she

  • rightwingnut2

The idiot-in-chief has been doing everything he can to get the focus off of the high unemployment rate, and high gas prices. They just bought themselves a few more days due to this. Perhaps a few points were scored, but if you think this is going to decide the election, you’re nuts!

Romney needs to focus on the economy like a freaking laser beam.!

Sorry you disagree, but that’s where I stand.

  • rightwingnut2

    …what I’m saying…..

Left leaning Politico and Buzzfeed have been all over this story. Why do you think that is? They generally ignore stories that don’t further their cause.

  • APA Guy

Just when I thought I’d heard it all…

  • rightwingnut2

However……It has the risk of developing into more than what Romney wants or needs. He got this far by staying on message. He scored some points, and should pivot back to he issues that will matter in November.

you are getting disagreement on your suggestion for good reason: It’s bad advice.

Here’s where you are right: Obama wants and needs a DISTRACTION from his terrible economic record.

Here4′s where you are wrong: counter-attack to defend Ann Romney and SAH Moms is VITAL to making sure Obama’s politics of distraction backfires on him.

That’s what the contraception nonsense, the ‘war on women’ slander and ALL the other nonsense is about. The Obama campaign is “Republicans hate women and are for the 1%”. This is all distraction away from Obama having the worst economic record and worst jobs record in our lifetime. Team Obama knew that Ann Romney would be a way for Romney to rebut/blunt the ‘war on women’ rhetoric, so they, in typical evil political calculation mode, decided to go after a family member.

What you are obviously missing is this: The only way to end the politics of distraction is to punish the Obama administration for pursuing it. the Hilary Rosen gaffe is a gift, one that points out how wrong and hollow the Obama Team’s family/women rhetoric is. They do not appreciate understand or have ANYTHING TO OFFER the say-at-home Mom’s, except lectures on how they arent real feminyst womyns folks.

It’s truly bizarre that the Democrats think a highly partisan lesbian millionaire inside-the-beltway lobbyist is somehow qualified to lecture the rest of us on which women are ‘in touch’ with what most women go through.

Ann Romney is more in touch with most American women than Hilary Rosen, Michelle Obama and Hilalry Clinton combined – she hasnt been a political creature her whole life like those 3.

Spending the time now to nail down the point that Team Obama is out of touch with real families will help us later to STOP their campaign of distraction.

  • rightwingnut2

People on our side have a tendency to overreach, and beat an issue to death, rendering it ineffective. Of course, the left is trying to divide the country along racial, gender, and socioeconomic lines. They would like nothing more than the entire campaign to be about this kind of stuff. In the end, Obama will promise more “free stuff” and employ enough scare tactics to win his share of these battles. The campaign needs to be about the economy and Obama’s left wing ideology.

“our side have a tendency to overreach, and beat an issue to death, rendering it ineffective.”

What in the blazes are you TALKING about?
On issue after issue where there SHOULD be outrage … you hear nary a peep in most of the media.
Dollars to donuts – it this hurts Obama, it gets killed fast.

Make hay while the sun shines. It WONT last. (by Monday this will be last weeks news.)

The idea that we could get the media to even come close to beating something like this to death is hilariously off-base. (And no – Hannity talking about it dont count, that’s preaching to the choir only.) No wonder people on this thread are taking you for a concern troll. you are way out to lunch.

This like being concerned about a batter hitting too many home runs.

“They would like nothing more than the entire campaign to be about this kind of stuff. ”

A gaffe a week by Team Obama will give Romney a 10-point win. We can live with that kind of campaign.

“The campaign needs to be about the economy and Obama

….minutes ago, but I see Erick shares my view on this.

    http://www.redstate.com/erick/2012/04/13/outrage-pimps/

I guess we’ll just have to respectfully agree to disagree, and see how it all plays out.

  • funwithknives

seem intent on deriding, right back into focus. By now, all who have a modicum of awareness knows wha t’ Billy Em’ claimed and in what context.

So why would anyone who gives a rat’s hiney want to let this go?
The biggist chunk of dung in Progressive Circles is hanging on like a pit bull, and seems to want it to continue.
Barry disavowed Rosen’s Drivel and this is another chance for each of us to call out Maher’s Donation, once again.
As time goes by, opportunity does strike at opportune intervals. Incredibly {we all know Progressives ramble on about So Much…} Round Two is here, and available.
    Kismet….!

The Obama administration’s specialty is to divide people– rich vs. poor, crime victims who could be Obama’s children vs. crime victims who couldn’t, and now working moms vs stay at home moms. It was good that people responded to the out-of-line comments, but now it’s time to move on.

Truly what is good for any one of these groups will be good for all of them, we need to unite people on a brighter future, like getting the economy moving again, producing local oil, reforming entitlements, etc. etc. etc.
