Sarah Palin Endorses Ted Cruz For Senate In Texas

*Click on the image above to donate to the Cruz campaign*

This endorsement by Palin is an absolute home run, in my opinion. As of about two weeks ago, Cruz was trailing by 12 points, but gaining on the current front runner, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. I predict this will put Cruz over the top.

Palin’s statement from the press release:

…..“We’re proud to join conservatives in Texas and throughout the nation in supporting your campaign to become the next Senator from the Lone Star State.”

“Your conservative principles, passionate defense of our Constitution and our free market system come at a time when these cornerstones of our freedom and prosperity are under attack,” Governor Palin added. “Our shared goal isn’t just to change the majority in control of the Senate, but to assure principled conservatives like you are there to fight for us.”

Cruz’s response:

…..“Governor Palin has been an inspiration to conservatives across Texas and across the Nation. She is principled and passionate and never afraid to speak truth to establishment power. I am humbled and honored to have Governor Palin’s support as we fight to restore fiscal sanity to the circus that is Washington. With Governor Palin’s support, and the support of tens of thousands of conservatives from all across Texas, we will turn our country around, rein in out-of-control spending and debt in Washington, and restore the Constitution.”….

The full press release is here.

The Cruz campaign is reporting a very positive response (via ABC News).

Call it the Sarah Palin bounce: Hours after the 2008 vice presidential nominee endorsed Ted Cruz, a Republican candidate for U.S. senator from Texas, on Thursday morning, the staff at Cruz’s headquarters in Austin reported a swift and positive reaction.

(…)

“Phones are ringing, online contributions are pouring in, and supporters are more excited than ever on our social networks,” Drogin wrote, adding that he’s seen a “flood” of donations but has yet to tally them……..

well except Perry and my bet is he’ll regret endorsing Dewhurst in the end. Palin news is great- thank you!

…but this is a bigger get for Cruz in Texas. Perry would probably agree.

Or, is she sticking with Gingrich?

        • http://www.rightspeak.net/search/label/-Right%20Wingnut rightwingnut2

          This post isn’t about Gingrich.

Are you pulling for Clinton or McCain in November?

          • mikeymike143

he seems too liberal to be a republican.

          • clintonformccain

I don’t believe she’s endorsed the Republican nominee for President, yet. Has she?

            ———

For the record, I’ll be voting for Romney in November.

          • http://www.rightspeak.net/search/label/-Right%20Wingnut rightwingnut2

            If so, state your case.

          • clintonformccain

            the Republican nominee for President.

          • http://www.rightspeak.net/search/label/-Right%20Wingnut rightwingnut2

Your complaint is out of place.

Do you approve of her Cruz endorsement?

          • clintonformccain

I don’t care anything about her other endorsements. I have no use for Republicans who aren’t helping to defeat Obama.

….a diary. I look forward to reading it.

            Next……..

but clintonformccain is a liberal establishment republican, so things like that dont matter to him like they do us conservatives.

          • clintonformccain

The time she endorsed, ten days before the election. the race has already turned decisively against Lugar.

BTW, I’m not a Republican. I’m a registered independent and have been for over 20 years.

          • http://www.rightspeak.net/search/label/-Right%20Wingnut rightwingnut2

…but he felt highly enough of her endorsement to display a copy of her check (and Herman Cain’s) in his campaign office.

            What’s that guys name?

          • http://www.rightspeak.net/search/label/-Right%20Wingnut rightwingnut2

Your efforts to bait me will once again prove unsuccessful. You’ll have to wait and see if Garfield logs on tonight. ;)

          • gekster

that wasn’t a bait, trying to be funny.

(and my friends use a small g, I’m not that big. use what your want. ;) )

          • http://www.rightspeak.net/search/label/-Right%20Wingnut rightwingnut2

            I can live with that…..

          • gekster

            You are a rightwingnut squared.
            I am just a nut. ;)

  • chbroussard

I’m proudly supporting Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate. David Dewhurst is not a conservative. Come on, fellow Texans. Let’s put this guy over the top.

I could care less what Palin does. However, I don’t live in TX though I was born in Houston almost 6 decades ago.

That being said, I know quite a few longtime conservatives in TX who support Dewhurst. All are small manufacturing type business owners. They are the kind of folks who personally pay for care package shipments (including contents), and just needed volunteers to help pack things. The kind of guys who have progeny who received bronze stars in ME. The kind of guys who had stupid regulations. The kind of guys who hate higher taxes. One of them even did a lot of work to set the foundation for the GOP to grow, back in the 1960′s, contributes financially conservative candidates nationwide and has for decades. He also has contributed heavily to Christian colleges.

I am doing a little work with a group of others there, all from S. TX, and less than 20 have made a few billion $ in the last few years, who are also behind Dewhurst. Some were close to closing there doors 3 years ago. None of it is from drilling or producing oil/gas.

      Great! Sign me up.

Some are multimillionaires but none are billionaires. The one with the most dramatic turnaround was ready to shut the doors on his business a few years ago, but opted to hang in, keep on meeting payroll and keep bills current without any profit. He sold his business for $600 million last year.

  • citizenkh

that he sold it for CASH, not a merger with stock involved.

I don’t have a dog in the fight, just reporting what I’ve been hearing from Corpus Christi, Texas City & Austin.

  • texashistorian

but I voted to Ted Cruz yesterday. Dewhurst is not the worst, and I think to call him a moderate is to go a bit too far. He is, however, not conservative enough and his leadership of the Texas legislature left something to be desired in my book. I think Palin’s endorsement can’t hurt, and even if Cruz doesn’t beat Dewhurst on May 29, it should be enough to force a runoff where I like Cruz’s chances a lot more.
