Yep, you read that right.  It was the “gotcha” moment personified!

Earlier this week, New York AG and Gubernatorial Candidate (probably next Governor) Andrew Cuomo filed a lawsuit against the Shady Lane Apartments in Glenville, NY and it’s rental agent, Ms. Deana Tope.  In the lawsuit, Cuomo alleges that Tope, on behalf of her employer, showed racial bias in her rental application procedures as well as those with children.

Monday night, Shady Lane Owner William J. Socha, Tope and 200 of the residents from the apartment complex she acts as a rental agent for held a press conference to answer the lawsuit.

Tope needed few words to defend the racism charge, she merely had to introduce her family to the media.  Her family would consists of her lifelong boyfriend, Jerome and here 5 children ranging in ages from 6 to 16.  You see, Jerome is black.  Their children are bi-racial.

Fighting back tears while speaking at the press conference Tope told of times when she herself had been discriminated against and the discrimination that her boyfriend and children face.

The suit is, of course, ludicrous.  Cuomo has made a complete fool out of himself on this one.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when he got this news.  Better yet, I would have loved to have been there for the damage control meeting with his campaign staff.

I wonder what he does for an encore?

Tea Party Patriots is reporting via e-mail blast that Speaker Pelosi is scheduling a vote for H.R. 5175 The “Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections (DISCLOSE) Act.  This new bill is what appears to be a direct retaliation from the left who got theirs wings clipped when the SCOTUS basically overturned the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform law in a clear victory for the 1st Amendment.

DISCLOSE strips away many of the protections that the SCOTUS put back into place by limiting political speech in the name of what the left considers to be “fairness”.  It really is nothing more than a re-incarnation of McCain-Feingold with one very important exception.

If you are on the Left, the law doesn’t apply to you.  You are free to do whatever you please.

Unions and other left wing advocacy groups will not be included in the restrictions of this bill.  Unfortunately, neither will the NRA who sold their soul and dropped their opposition to this bill in exchange for the exemption.  (I guess they forgot how dangerous it is to make a deal with the devil.)

The groups that ARE limited by this bill are organizations like the various Tea Party organizations, family value advocacy groups, conservative watchdogs, even RedState should we so decide to purchase campaign ads.  (I know, we don’t need to, it’s just an example folks!)

So in other words, if you are on the left, say whatever you want, spend whatever you want, do whatever you want and you will be protected by law.  If you are on the right, you just got your wings clipped in a big way, if this passes.

Now the chances that this law will be turned over by the SCOTUS as well is almost a certainty, but it WON’T happen before this November’s elections.

Got on the phones people!  Call your Representative in Congress now!

I just recently read a column written by an uber-liberal blogger who uses the name “AC”.  I’ve gone a couple of rounds with this guy in the past but this morning he truly crossed the line with his attempt to show how “ridiculous” we Conservatives are for believing the health care bill includes death panels.  In his “illustration” he goes after Trig Palin.

AC-Death Panel Avenger

Prologue:

It’s the year 2040. Barack Obama’s historic health care reform bill is now thirty years old and the United States has changed dramatically….for the better if you ask me. Initially there was a lot of resistance to the ‘changes’ that were happening, mostly from pain in the a** conservatives who were clever enough to have seen through our plan. But that didn’t last long. You see the ‘death panels’ became the law of the land in 2010 and The Obama picked an A-1 immoral liberal for this glorious undertaking. From that day on those who didn’t quite fit in were systematically given to me…..AC-Death Panel Avenger.

Chapter 1 (the year 2010)

Grandma’s Gotta Go

His job was simple….eliminate those who were obsolete. Eventually the task would turn to those who were obstinate but in the beginning he was simply there to cull the numbers, to thin the herd. AC was a master at his craft and he started the very first panels the day the law was signed by Lord Obama. One thing he learned early in life was to start slow and build up a steady pace, these things couldn’t be rushed or it would draw to much attention from the right wing media…the devils.

No, a single death panel would be started in each state. The members would be handpicked from the remnants of the sixties and some from the early seventies but certainly nobody who was close to yuppie age would be allowed. Long haired maggot infested hippies, environmentalist wackos, and bleeding heart war protesters would be the heart and soul of the first death panels. These people were certain to be the type that would pull out the feeding tube from Terry Schiavo’s stomach faster than you can say ‘compromise bill’. They would talk as if they were concerned for the elderly, they would act sympathetic but the minute grandma begins forgetting where she left her car keys…..BAM….she’s denied health care for everything. Let’s see how long Grandma lasts without her lipitor and beta blockers. Grandma will be pushin’ up daisies in no time and the herd will begin to be thinned. And of course health care costs will go down and Lord Obama’s reign as ruler of the world will be ensured.

Chapter 2 (2011)

O.K. Sarah, Give us the Baby…..

Once the death panels caught on and the sheep…oops…my bad…I mean citizens of the USA were on board it was time to step things up a notch. Death panels were going strong in every state, so much so that the average age in the USA went from 77 to 45 in a single year. Man did health care costs go down and there was even extra money left over to give everyone on welfare a 10000 dollar raise….Lord Obama was pleased because most of the recipients of the money were non-whites. It tied in with his eventual plan to enslave all white people except a select few who had been so loyal, people like AC-Death Panel Avenger.

The next step was to move the death panels from the elderly to the undesirable and the first candidate would be Sarah Palin and her little downs-syndrome baby Trig. Who the hell needs a kid with downs syndrome anyway? All they do is suck up valuable resources that could be used elsewhere, like to give registered Democrat voters, who are naturally to busy to get a job, a little extra in their housing supplement or food stamp allotment. Priorities my friends, you have to have priorities if you’re gonna successfully run a country.

Sarah showed up at the federal building (all death panels operate from a federal building now) with Trig right on time. She had the conservative media in tow and was confident that she would turn this into a victory for conservatives everywhere with some defiant words and an evening spot on the O’Reilly factor. Little did she know how ready for her the death panels were. Sarah Palin and Trig androids were on site and ready for the ol’ switcheroo. Actually it was pretty easy to build a Sarah Android using a mannequin from Victorias secret and the voice box from an old Barbie Doll, a few modifications and it was a perfect match. Sarah ducked into the ladies room to change Trig’s poopy diaper and woooooooooshhhhhh, right down the trap door to the death panel waiting below. The fake Sarah promptly returned to the media circus where she announced that she was cooperating fully with the death panel after seeing the folly of wasting taxpayer money caring for a Downs Syndrome baby for many years to came, “why that would be like building a bridge to nowhere, you-betcha (wink, wink)”. The fools bought it of course, move over Stepford Wives.

The real Sarah was now at the mercy of an AC, A-1 Death Panel. “OK Sarah, give us the baby and we won’t water-board you or anyone in your family…..maybe”. After handing over Trig Sarah was sold to a Saudi Royal family as a concubine for a handsome profit….Cha Ching…..more dough for the freeloaders….uh I mean Democrats.

Chapter 3 Mickey, Lets Face it, Your Health Isn’t Good It

Dr. Richard Pitkin is a rare bird in the world of medicine.  Pitkin graduated from High School in the small village of Corinth, NY in 1944.  In 1954 he graduated from Medical School at New York Medical College and then went on to his residencies at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo and Samaritan Hospital.  Upon completing these requirements, he returned to his hometown to start a Family Practice.  That was well over 50 years ago and Dr. Pitkin is still practicing medicine today AND he’s doing it the way he always did.

If you want an office appointment with Dr. Pitkin you will have to wait until after 2:00 at the earliest.  Anytime before that Dr. Pitkin is making his house calls to see the patients that can’t get to him.  It will cost you more for that house call, a whopping 10 bucks, but he makes them each and every day.  He travels with the medical bag you would expect an old country doctor to carry.  The buckles on the bag broke years ago and some have offered to buy him a new bag but he’s just as happy with the one he has.

Dr. Pitkin treats all patients equally without worrying about how and when they are going to pay or even if they CAN pay.  He’s also happy to take services in trade if you have anything he needs.  He lives in a very modest house in the same neighborhood most of his patients live in where he raised 5 kids.  He doesn’t drive the Mercedes and BMW you would expect a Dr. to have.  The last time I saw him, I believe he had a Chevy Malibu.

In 1995 I became very ill.  I had no energy.  I had no appetite yet I wasn’t nautious.  I spiked a high fever.  I went to see Dr. Pitkin in his office where he had me do an quick in house urinalysis where he determined I had a problem with my liver.  He sent me to the lab for a more comprehensive test and then told me to go home and go to bed until the results came back.  That was the last time I had to go to his office for the next six weeks.  When the results came back Dr. Pitkin rang my door bell and came into the bedroom with my wife and the results in hand.  I had mono-hepititis,  mononucleosis that had attacked my liver instead of my glands.  His orders were clear.  STAY IN BED!  Lots of fluids and try to drink some clear broth.  He said he would be back to check on me.

He came back daily and did just that.  Sometimes I was so tired I didn’t even know he was there.  On one visit he apparently decided I needed a shot but he never told me.  He knew how I felt about needles and he didn’t feel like fighting that battle.  He asked me to hand him a tissue and as I reached over to the other side of the bed to give him one he gave me that shot where the Sun doesn’t shine.  Sneaky devil.

Thanks to Dr. Pitkin I made a full recovery in the comfort of my own home.

Dr. Richard Pitkin sees the practice of medicine as a calling.  He sees it as a responsibility.  He sees it as a chance to make a difference.   He still practices and my guess is he will until the day when he just isn’t physically able to.  Oh, by the way, Dr. Pitkin even has the “English Muttons” that you would expect a country doctor to have.  I wish I had a picture to post, he looks exactly as you are probably imagining he would.

In the midst of this health care debate I just wanted some people to know about Dr. Richard Pitkin.  I have a feeling if we had more Doctors with his mentality and dedication, we might not even be having this debate.

One of the core elements of the health care reform “health insurance reform” debate is what the liberals consider a completely immoral practice of underwriting health care insurance policies and that is the denial of coverage for “pre-existing conditions”.  While most states already DON’T allow this policy, the war cry of eliminating the denial of coverage for this is still loud and clear.

So I’m going to try a little experiment with a different type of insurance coverage.  My experiment will be with Property and Casualty Insurance or Automobile Insurance in particular.

I have an older truck that I carry liability only insurance coverage on.  I’m going to take it for a ride, ram it into a tree and then call the insurance company to add collision coverage onto my policy so I can file the claim.  Now how much luck do you think I’ll have doing that?

None.

Zip.

Zilch.

Nada.

In fact, in making that phone call I am committing insurance fraud and I could indeed go to jail.  Now my insurance company has safegaurds in place to make sure they don’t get ripped off by such scams, photo inspections is one of them, but that is exactly my point here.  By making that phone call I would have been expecting my insurance company to cover a pre-existing condition for which I had not paid any premium previously to cover the potential loss.  I have given them pure loss and not the possibility of loss and that is the entire purpose of insurance, to cover the POSSIBILITY of loss and not a GAURANTEE of loss.

This is what the Democrats don’t get.  By allowing ANYONE who has a pre-existing condition to get coverage, they aren’t offering insurance, they are offering bailouts.  Why is it that an insurance company has to accept a pure loss of a person’s health coverage that all of a sudden decides they want coverage now that they are sick and need it yet they weren’t willing to pay premiums when they were well?  The other problem is, in most cases, once that person receives the treatment they need they cancel the policy and the insurance companies lose any chance of recouping the losses.

It shouldn’t surprise us that the U. S. Government doesn’t understand how insurance is SUPPOSED to work, they are, after all, the entity that provides Flood Insurance.  Flood Insurance is yet another pure loss risk.  Those that have the coverage are in a “flood plain” where flooding is not a matter of “if”, it’s a matter of “when”.  Private companies won’t give the coverage for this very reason so the government, of course, does what no sensibly run private company will do.

To my Democrat friends:

If you TRULY want to cut costs in health care, then eliminate the requirement that health insurers accept pre-existing conditions except in the case of a change of employer that offers different coverage.  That would be a great step that would save a lot of people a lot of money and make the coverage more affordable for everyone.
