Why Barack Obama Loves Rick Perry

RICK PERRY WOULD BE A DISASTER IN A GENERAL ELECTION.

Obama knows he can’t run on his record but against Romney he has to run on his record because he can’t run against the Tea Party or extremism. Obama and the Democrats wnt an election like Harry Reid vs. Sharon Angle in Nevada.

HE CAN ONLY GET THIS IF HE RUNS AGAINS PERRY

Against Rick Perry Obama and the Democracts have a trifecta.

1. THEY CAN RUN AGAINST GEORGE W. BUSH

If Obama tries to bring up Bush against Romney, he will just look like he’s trying to avoid his record. He can easily bring up Bush against Perry as another Governor from Texas who will give us a 3rd Bush Term. I have heard more about Bush since Perry has entered the race than I have heard about Bush all year and by the time the democrats are through, Rick Perry will be GEORGE W. PERRY.

2. THEY CAN RUN AGAINST THE TEA PARTY

Rick Perry is the Tea Party candidate. The Tea Party is popular in the Republican Party but they have lost popularity nationwide. Even at the height of they’re popularity they were stronger on a local House of Represenatives level but their power weakened as they went to the Senate. This is why Obama will follow the Harry Reid model if he runs against Perry.

3. THEY CAN RUN AGAINST EXTREMISM

In a recent Fox Poll people said Perry was too extreme more than other candidates. This will magnified during the election if Perry is the nominee. I would have every Democrat running for office ask their Republican challengers, DO YOU AGREE WITH YOUR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE THAT HOMOSEXUALS ARE LIKE ALCOHOLICS? Republicans will be running away from Perry like they did with Bush in 2008.

With Perry the narrative will be:

THE REPUBLICANS WANTED A 3RD BUSH TERM SO BAD, THEY WENT RIGHT BACK TO TEXAS AND GOT GEORGE W. PERRY THE TEA PARTY CANDIDATE WHO THINKS HOMOSEXUALS ARE LIKE ALCOHOLICS.

So it will not be about re-electing Obama because nobody wanted to vote for Harry Reid outside of hardcore democrats. When Reid ran against Angle, the question switched to do you really want Sharon Angle the Tea Party extremist to represent you in Washington.

RICK PERRY WILL DESTROY ANY REPUBLICAN CHANCE OF TAKING THE SENATE AND IT WILL BE VERY HARD TO WIN ANY SWING STATES.

SAY NO TO GEORGE W. PERRY!!

. . .under an assumed name.

If nothing else, we now have printable proof of how bad all of Romney’s talking points are, regarding Perry.

Honestly R4P, this is just sad.

Just came out from Iowa. “The survey of 862 Likely Iowa Republican Caucus Participants was conducted on August 31, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.”

Details as follows: “Iowa GOP Caucus shows that Perry is the first choice for 29%. Essentially tied for second are Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann at 18% and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 17%. Texas Congressman Ron Paul picks up 14% of the vote, and nobody else currently reaches the five percent (5%) mark.”

Read link for details – Iowa Caucus: Iowa GOP: Perry 29%, Bachmann 18%, Romney 17%, Paul 14%

but the other good news in the poll is that Cain came in third. He beats Bachmann only by a point, but I can’t believe that Bachmann is falling so badly. Wasn’t it supposed to be between Perry, Romney and Bachmann, just a week or so ago? I love that Cain is doing as well as he is. He would be my second choice.

of Massachusetts and candidate for Senate in Massachusetts, I would say:

Just say no to Barack H. Romney.

  • bk

and Romney is the only conservative, then wouldn’t Obama be able to paint Romney as the most extremist tea party candidate?

I’ve have a hard time keeping up with Perry incarnations, Democrat Perry, Compassionate Conservative Perry, Tenth Amendment Perry, Crony Capitalist Perry…

I know he is flip-flopping on “Fed Up” already, walking back on gay rights and aboation as states rights issues. He also defended RomneyCare in that book… yep. Tons of ammo.

But its the repeal of the 16th, 17th and Social Security that will destroy him in a general election. Fed Up is like a Christmas, Birthday, and Valentines gift for Plouffe and Axlelrod all wrapped up in a neat bow.

Call me a radical but the government needs to get out of the retirement business…
My kids do not need to be paying into a failed system. My wife & I have been saving and will not need to rely on SS. If anyone working thinks that the govt will provide for them – then God Bless their little hearts.

Lots of things are support are not supported by the majority.

Run on platform that calls Social Security unconstitutional, a failure and a scheme and lose the election. Lose the race, lose the chance to repeal ObamaCare, lose the Supreme Court and maybe the country forever.

Do your homework before posting things that we have already dug into here at Redstate.

I have been carefully watching Perry in video and print when asked about things he has written in his book “Fed Up!” , and not once has he walked back on anything he’s written in it. He has told reporters more than once that if they want to question him on his book, that they should read it, rather than ask questions on claims they are making about the book that aren’t in it.

I agree with Perry, read the book before passing erroneous information around claiming it’s true.

You believe it’s a gift for you Romney/Rove supporters. The truth is that Romney and Rove will in fact be given a pass by Axelrod and Plouffe, because they share a very similar political ideology, and heck why vote for liberal light, when you can keep Obama and accomplish the same thing. The voters have gotten far smarter, and know a liberal Republican when they see one. Romney has a whole heck of a lot more to worry about with the Republicans than Perry will ever have to endure. I think that has been reflected in most polling since Perry got in the race, and ran right over Romney to the head of the line in short order.

Perry=the anti-Romney, and with a lot less baggage.

      • izoneguy

So far – Obama would be an idiot to promote “Fed Up”.
Rick Perry is on the money with “Fed Up”.

  • Scope

Perry-22, Romney-22. There is also this recent article pointing out all of the former Romney donors, now moving over to the Perry camp, many of them in CA. They must have read Perry’s Fed Up, and decided to go with a leader.

  • Martin Knight

… though not necessarily preferring him to Perry, this only makes me like Romney less. You’re reminding me of a Ronulan.

I found Redstate about three weeks ago, and this diary is the most inane thing I’ve seen here.

This election is going to be a nasty battle of Biblical proportions…We HAVE to promote the most viable “Warrior” we can.

    Mitt is a wuss……

  • renny

Tea parties may back Perry and Perry may be smart enough to recognize them as real cons. grass roots pols., but he is no product of the tea parties and has positions not exactly tea party proof.

As for GW, almost every one has had a chance in the last 25 years to be for GW in one form or another. Remember, the email flap from E. Anglia U., the recent NASA data that the earth’s atmosphere disperses more heat than computer models had predicted, and the voices of more anti-MGW dissidents have begun to be heard, but ONLY very recently.

Bushies and Perries are evidently no great buds. So, altho’ both men were/are gov’s of TX, they have not so much else in common. And if little o and ilk think they can run again on the anti-Bush/Perry theme, I think they have another thunk coming with independents who’ve heard that line before.

But maybe more relevant, Romney was a one-term MA gov., who passed Romneycare and has been pro-abortion, anti-abortion, pro-abortion, anti-abortion, yadda, and already ran this race once and lost it. He is a retread. Perry, like any human, may not be perfect (he has now said his Gardasil EO was wrong, and it was), but he didn’t rise to the top of the Rep. polls in a couple weeks without having great appeal, strong records, along with media presence, and he has never lost an election.

Let’s say it’s November 2012. The curtain closes behind you in the voting booth and your choice is between:

    • Rick Perry
    • Barack Obama
    • Abstain

    What do you do?

If your answer is “Perry”, don’t you think you should dial back your rhetoric, and not just a little?

If your answer is one of the other two, then why should I as a reader (and as a moderator, BTW) take you seriously?

    • rightwingmom52

Maybe everyone should take a minute and substitute the name of the candidate they most oppose, whether it’s Romney, Palin, Perry or whoever, before firing off a comment. Maybe even if it’s Ron Paul, but that might be asking the impossible.
