Glad I took another look through the diaries list.

I exchanged emails yesterday and today with a couple of fellow tea partiers here in Birmingham and used the word "naive" to describe myself coming into this primary season. Your diary perfectly describes my own process from 2008 to present.

As for the tea party, no two are the same. A win in Iowa doesn't necessarily mean tea parties in other areas will follow suit. Often, it's a matter of educating voters (especially those who don't read redstate). I sent a slew of articles to another tea partier who had a friend trying to convince him to support Ron Paul. Didn't take long for me to convince him otherwise just by pointing Paul's history which the friend had totally ignored.

Tea Partiers...and people who know some....better get on the Perry bandwagon and fast. You have yet to get up and endorse any candidate. What...hasn't he proven your goals good enough for you? Low Taxes, low regulation, less government interference. What is it that you want...blood? Really, I am serious. What has Governor Perry NOT done to demonstrate that your agenda for government is correct. Surely there are enough jobs in Texas...I was just there. In fact...just about not enough housing.

So, it is time to put up or shut up. You have no creditability when you stand silent. Yes...I know, you want Obama defeated. But Obama is a symptom...the disease is the GOVERNMENT. It has to be changed. Government closer to the people gives them greater control of it and of their lives.

You've mailed me all sorts of solicitations...I won't give you $$ unless you back a candidate. Romney...is he small government. How about Gingrich...like the ethics. Santorum...well, better check his ethics also. So, who actually put into practice your model...Governor Rick Perry. Time to endorse him.
