Ann Coulter Beats Andrew Breitbart in “Gay” Butt Kissing Contest!

null

In an August 10 article appearing on the front page of OneNewsNow.com the world learned that Ann Coulter –the “Queen of Conservatism”– was one-upping Andrew Breitbart and Grover Norquist in their “gay” butt-kissing contest by accepting a new position as Honorary Chair of the pro-sodomy organization GOProud. Said Coulter about her new position:

I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud’s Advisory Council, and look forward to being the Queen of Fabulous.

If GOProud advisory board member and Gay-Stream Media (GSM) mogul Andrew Breitbart were any happier about this turn-of-events he’d be “gay”!

Shortly after appointing their new Honorary Chair, GOProud declared Ann Coulter a “Gay Icon.” No folks, you’re not reading an Onion article.

Ann Coulter has traded her Conservative crown in for a “gay” tiara. Now this formerly-closeted social-liberal is in the public bathroom stall with the “gays” and her credibility with Conservatives is going down faster than Larry Craig can knock three-times –or DID activist Andrew Breitbart can find out that nobody cares that he’s boycotting Conservatism, again! Well, he isn’t as bad as Mr. Swindle yet -but he’s gettin there!

Due to the controversy generated by Coulter’s move some young activists are asking themselves if “gays” can be a part of the Republican Party?

The answer to the question of course is no. No, Ann, they can’t. What part of “Party of No” don’t YOU understand?

I am not arbitrarily banning self-identified “gays” or pro-“gay” activists from membership in the Conservative movement. Nor am I  a “nasty bigot,” of course. I am simply explicating a tenet of Conservatism. Just ask Mr. Conservative himself.

Ronald Reagan on the relationship between the government and homosexuality:

We will resist the efforts of some to obtain government endorsement of homosexuality.

Ronald Reagan on “gays” and HIV/AIDS:

Maybe the Lord brought down this plague [because] illicit sex is against the Ten Commandments.

Ronald Reagan’s hand-picked Supreme Court appointees Antonin Scalia and William Rehnquist rightly upheld anti-sodomy statutes in Bowers v Hardwick.

Conservative icon William F. Buckley Jr. felt the same way. When left-wing activist Gore Vidal called him a crypto-Nazi, he replied stridently:

Now listen, you queer, stop calling me a crypto-Nazi or I will sock you in your goddamn face, and you will stay plastered.

Buckley later apologized to Vidal for his stridency but not before making his position on the unnatural vice clear:

…the man who in his essays proclaims the normalcy of his affliction [i.e., homosexuality], and in his art the desirability of it, is not to be confused with the man who bears his sorrow quietly. The addict is to be pitied and even respected, not the pusher.

GOProud, the pro-sodomy organization which Ann Coulter now honorarily chairs, is an organizational manifestation of what Mr. Buckley referred to as “the pusher.”

GOProud’s mission statement on its website proclaims, “GOProud represents gay conservatives and their allies. GOProud is committed to a traditional conservative agenda that emphiasizes limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy at the federal level.”

However, in a moment of candor last August, GoProud co-founder Christopher Barron tweeted about the organization’s true mission:

We are a gay organization, we only work on gay issues, we have never claimed otherwise. My God people.

The aforementioned tweet was posted at 4:04 p.m. on Aug. 4, 2010 by Christopher Barron -the organizations founder.

GOProud’s advisory board member Andrew Breitbart seems to agree with Reagan and Buckley. He implicitly acknowledged that sodomy is not a Conservative tenet 25 minutes into an interview on C-SPAN last October when he stated that he is not Conservative or even libertarian, but “libertine on issues of consensual behavior among adults.”

Conservatism has grown in recent years, not only due to national frustration about the economy and Obama’s socialist health-care plan, but also due to the hard work of a lot of Conservative organizations and activists. This is a good thing, and the entire movement might be more united if it weren’t for the controversy and divisiveness brought about almost single handedly by GOProud.

Although the Conservatism which animates the Republican Party has no rigid ideological dogmata, it isn’t in essence populism either. Conservatism ascendant, I suppose we now need an objective standard by which to determine when a group is legitimate. I propose the following simple measure:

One must not insert an issue contrary to conservatism’s core tenets into one’s core organizational structure or core personal political identity, if one expects to be considered “Conservative.”

Conservative intellectual Floyd Brown summarizes those core tenets thusly:

The conservative movement as envisioned by Frank Meyer is a coalition between economic conservatives, social conservatives and defense and foreign policy conservatives. GOProud’s participation…undermines the coalition envisioned by Meyer, the philosopher at National Review that developed the framework on which the modern American conservative movement was built.

Ann Coulter, renounce your affiliation with GOProud, stop contributing to the “born gay” hoax, and stop using individuals with Same-Sex Attraction Disorder (SSAD) as fodder for the multi-cult (aka cultural-marxists), and third-wave feminists, or prepare to be divorced from Conservatism, and Christianity, for that matter. Oh by the way, Francios A. Houle says ”Hi!” He says you’re welcome back in Ottawa again. Congrats! I guess I’m the one banned now. This is a zero-sum game. If you keep on the course you’re on, you lose.

Kindly get the hell off our site, bigot

aesthete (Diary) Wednesday, August 24th at 3:41PM EDT (link)

Every one of your diaries thus far has been 1) an attack on prominent conservative activists (not a disagreement — an attack), 2) strangely fixated on sodomy and its criminalization (which is in no way a mainstream conservative position, and which IMO makes regular conservatives who oppose gay marriage look bad by association), and 3) has lifted you up at the expense of others in the conservative movement. RS, believe it or not, is dedicated to furthering conservative goals and electing Republicans, not hosting Ryan Sorba’s crusade against fellow conservatives who are not our enemies, or to fostering his delusions of grandeur.

Actually

Erick Erickson (Diary) Wednesday, August 24th at 6:28PM EDT (link)

I don’t like this post.

I don’t like it because it has nothing to do with the cause of this site and it picks fights on my site with two friends of mine.

But don’t call Ryan a bigot. He holds a traditional, Christian view on homosexuality and stands with probably 70% of the people on this site on that issue.

I may not want his post here, but understand that you are in the minority here on homosexuality/gay marriage.

Who will stand on either hand and keep this bridge with me?

Not talking about gay marriage, Erick

aesthete (Diary) Wednesday, August 24th at 9:40PM EDT (link)

I disagree with you fine folks on that issue, but I don’t see it as a matter of bigotry.

I’m also not talking about homosexuality as a sin issue (I agree with the traditional Christian position here).

I am referencing Sorba’s consistent attempts to dehumanize and stereotype gays, to bar them from party membership, to use epithets related to homosexuality to refer to his political adversaries (gay or straight), to ridiculous and broad guilt-by-association on his part and to paranoid conspiracies that he alludes to in his RS writings and in other sources. Roget’s defines bigotry as “Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion: intolerance, prejudice.” This is a definition that is unfairly applied by liberals and some libertarians to conservatives, but which is right on the money as concerns Sorba’s monomaniacal obsession with the subject of homosexuality.

To reiterate, this is a narrow issue that is Sorba’s personal problem, not a general problem of the site or even the broader conservative movement — which is why it is so out of place on RS, which has always held itself and its membership to high standards (especially by the standards of most activist sites). I’m not management, and will abide by whatever the site does regarding Mr Sorba’s inflammatory posts. Nevertheless, it’s my personal opinion that the level of irrational hatred both for specific persons in the movement (Coulter and Breitbart) and broad groups (gays) have well-earned Sorba whatever dismissal site management sees fit.

While I'll accept your judgment that Ryan is

mbecker908 (Diary) Thursday, August 25th at 10:09AM EDT (link)

not a bigot, there’s nothing in this pathetic screed that would support that conclusion. This diary is the rhetorical equivalent of someone active in Republican politics coming here and noting that Obama and the Black Caucus are a bunch of N-words.

You rightly note that it has no place here and that it’s subject matter has nothing to do with the mission of Redstate. I would argue that this tripe is counter to the mission of Redstate because it calls for the removal of people from the conservative movement with whom we share probably 95% agreement across the issues. IMO, this site has much more in common ideologically and organizationally with Mr. Breitbart and Ms. Coulter than it does with Mr. Sorba.

On a personal note, I am opposed to “gay marriage” and the “gay agenda” and I am really opposed to the politicization of those as a “solution” for either side and while there is certainly a problem with the political methods used to get these accepted, a really good case can be made that the real problem – and the real failure here – is not the politicians and pundits, but the preachers. This is a moral issue, where is the church in terms of standing up and working to educate their parishioners and the public at large on this issue? They did an excellent job – although not so much in the last 10+ years – of doing this on abortion and the polling numbers on abortion have swung dramatically in favor of, at the very least, significant restrictions on it.

I’m a little bemused that Sorba comes in here, attacks solid conservatives whose contribution far outstrips anything Sorba has done – which would basically be zip – lays down a marker that is designed to do nothing more than divide the movement, offers no positive actions that might be taken, and threatening to divorce Ann and Andrew from conservatism and Christianity (Ryan is Pope or something?) and then he gets defended by you and Aaron and Neil.

Sorba is an outlier. And if he’s not a bigot, he’s wearing a great Halloween costume.

I'm most surprised this diary (and you) are still at RedState

civil truth (Diary) Wednesday, August 24th at 5:59PM EDT (link)

Your intemperate language and level of personal invective against leading conservatives would seem to defy site policy against personal attacks and open you to a charge of rank bigotry.

In the process you have obscured the arguments you were trying to advance and embarrassed those who might find agreement with them.

Your RedState profile demonstrates a propensity to self-promotion that raises a question as to where self-interest ends and commitment to conservatism begins.

Your profile and previous diaries also indicates a preoccupation with gay issues and crossing swords with those whose positions differ from you.

From my vantage point, I don’t think this relationship here is working.

The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the offices of a thoroughly nasty business concern. -C.S. Lewis

yeah Neil, like everyone can't tell you are trying to set me up

Doc Holliday (Diary) Wednesday, August 24th at 8:04PM EDT (link)

for some reason. You used the pretext of Erick’s post to take me on. I am a Christian, as anyone who has been around here like you should know. Also, I do not support gay marriage. I do support small government and I don’t want oppressors from the right or left.

The diarist came here to trash other conservatives and hurt people. He came in here using angry cheap shots like “kissing gay butts” because he was trying to draw attention to himself. I found his diary offensive and unhelpful. He also maligned Ronald Reagan, making Reagan out to be some hateful theocrat that believed AIDS was the will of God. The truth is Reagan did a lot to fight AIDS, the diarist knows it and so do you.

I expect you to take shots at me and try to defame me from time to time, you have done it before. But I will post what I want to post as long as I am permitted to do so.

why wait to attack just my response? What was so special about it? And if so many here agree with Sorba, why don’t they recco his diary?

I am out of this. You responded to me with some hackneyed claim that Erick asked us not to respond to the diary. Then, when that failed, you said I hate Christians. Now, you say you are not even Christian, when I have been openly Christian here for five years.

Neil, we are done, ban me, trash me, but don’t expect me to talk to you like a man.

If you are calling Sorba a bigot

Erick Erickson (Diary) Wednesday, August 24th at 9:22PM EDT (link)

Because he maintains traditional Christian values, then you must be a bigot against Christians.

It really is that simple.

Who will stand on either hand and keep this bridge with me?

That is not what I did Erick

Doc Holliday (Diary) Wednesday, August 24th at 9:34PM EDT (link)

I said his post contained bigotry, he was trying to insult and divide. His entire post was about trashing Coulter, Breitbart, Reagan, etc. If I was wrong to use the term bigotry, I recant it. I am sure he is a very nice guy.

But I had a right to post my view. I was jumped on by Neil BEFORE I said anything about bigotry. I am a Christian, and you have no right to call me bigoted against Christians. If you take the time to read the thread, you will see I was not the offender.

But I will be honest with you Erick. I am done with this website. I guess I wasted 5 years here, and not for any money or acclaim. I see no reason to stay somewhere I still have so little respect. I have been consistent in my small government conservative beliefs, and I have always voted Republican.

I said the post contained bigotry, which it does. There are insults to gays, insults to Coulter, Breitbart, and Reagan. I never even said “bigotry” until after Neil attacked me. You and Neil are part of the problem with this site lately. All this infighting, it is a waste of time and energy. All this episode did was possibly repulse people.

I am here to discuss conservatism and politics. I am not here to jump on fellow RS’ers to get my jollies. Neil tried to ambush me, and you came in as a lap dog. There is nothing else to it.

Sorba said in the diary above, that “gays can not be a part of the Republican party”. If that is not divisive or bigoted, I guess I don’t know the meaning of the terms. I made one comment and you two decided to use it to try to get me banned or to make a fool of me. The reality is you were hoisted on your own petard.

This the liberal media's fault

SirGladiator (Diary) Thursday, August 25th at 12:53AM EDT (link)

As silly as it might sound, I’d actually blame the liberal media for this fight between great Americans. It wasnt that long ago that all of America had strong moral values and were virtually unanimous on the ‘gay’ issue. If there was a fight it was between the far left, who still had basic common sense and decency on the issue, and the far FAR left, who wanted to normalize gay sex. Now we’ve gone so far in America that we’ve actually got people on a Conservative, Republican website calling other people ‘bigoted’ for holding basic Christian values, values that actually aren’t even held just by Christians and conservatives, but are actually shared by normal, right thinking people regardless of religion or ideology.

Its sad to see Patriotic Americans fighting over something that nobody here would’ve ever fought over just a decade or two ago, we’d have all agreed on what was morally right and wrong on an issue this obvious. The fact that the liberal media has confused and warped the minds of so many good Americans is what is the saddest part of all this. I hope everybody stops fighting and remembers that we’re all on the same side, we’re all in this together, and issues like these should unite us, not divide us. They used to, and they can again, if we simply remember that standing up for what’s right and good is why all of us are here. Let’s not let the liberal media confuse what we all know to be right and true, and let’s not ever turn to personal attacks and insults to make our points, whatever those points might be. Just my two cents.

As I told Ryan, this post really has no business being at RedState, but calling him a bigot or me a bigot or anyone else because we hold to traditional values also makes you a bigot for your contempt of those of us who think 5000 years of human history shouldn’t be shunted aside just so somebody can be happy about what history has viewed as outside the mainstream.

You can always go elsewhere.
