Anne Coulter and I don’t always agree(Bill Maher?????) but in her new editorial, we are in complete accord. Since the seat in MO is likely lost to us anyway, why let our party be saddled with one man’s idiotic and pathetic viewpoint? A write in campaign must be mounted immediately. Republicans should be on t.v. far and wide stating that Mr Akin’s statements do not reflect their viewpoint( or reality) and although we are also prolife, their support and money will go to a write in candidate on the matter of principal. Kit Bond has the experience, the recognition, and the easy to spell name for the job and there are most likely others who will also fit the bill.
I have stated before that I am 100 percent pro life in all cases(speaking for myself). I do not believe in a rape exception, legitimate or otherwise. However, the crack pot, whack a doodle, non -scientific ” theory” that he used to justify his ridiculous statement in one fell swoop demonstrated his complete lack of political sense, any sense of biology( rape rooms in Africa and other places produce children, sir)whatever, this topic has been kicked to death. The smarts to be a conservative politician are lacking in this man, Lord only knows what else he has said in the past that we are sure to be treated to (and forced to defend) by Claire and Co.
The biggest reason for my willingness to aide in and help fund a write in campaign is not necessarily the words he said in the now infamous interview, it is the behavior afterwards. A tin ear, turning off phones and email capability from his own constituency, going on cable news for interviews and calling those who asked him to step down party bosses, actually believing a push poll when his own polling MUST show another picture entirely- the list just continues and is sure to grow over the days. I don’t want to have to defend this idiot to people I am trying to bring over to our conservative cause, I don’t want him tied in anyway to other candidates who were ahead or barely behind before his self serving and despicable , me first actions. Anyone in MO who has any knowledge of how to mount a write in campaign or knows of any way to help in getting someone else into this race, whether it is through money or written support or whatever, please let the rest of us in on it. We do not have to take this man who the democrats foisted upon us and we do not necessarily have to write the seat off either, fight fire with fire I say.

I lived in Missouri for three years while my husband was stationed at Ft. Leonardwood and spent too much time changing the channel whenever Claire showed up on my t.v. I want her gone from the public purview. That said, watch Akin’s interview. These statements are clearly his own views(and he has a right to them). He did not stutter, stammer, or take even a millisecond of thought to answer the question put to him. There was NO mis statement, no mis speaking, no error in his mind. I would wager that it wasn’t until the calls started coming in that he might have gotten a glimmer of a clue about how offensive some of his word choices were.
Now we have a mea culpa ad asking for forgiveness- for using the word ~legitimate~. What about the rest of it? Do you really believe the other reasoning you gave sir? I think the answer is YES.

It is my SINCERE hope that out in the annals of the blogging and journalistic world, we have people furiously going through past words, interviews, and written statements to make damn sure that there is nothing else like this out there. I have a sinking feeling that there is and Claire and Co are not only aware of it, but have it already downloaded and ready to go. this woman is devious and very manipulative, she pushed him in the primaries because he was the weakest and easiest to beat. Ask yourself why that would be? Where there is smoke, there is fire. Does a 25 year politician(Akin) just up and say something that mind numbingly dumb only once, right after winning a tough primary and less than three months to a nation changing election? I doubt it, there is more out there waiting to be dumped, you can forgive a one time poor choice of words, but what about two times? three or more? He has to go today.

Everyone knows that I am a Perry voter and I don’t try to hide it or use subliminal messaging to get my candidates name out there. So instead of trying to hedge my bets after reading the news this morning- I’m going to come right out and say it. We are in DEEP TROUBLE in this country if we continue with this conservative bloodletting, while Mitt Romney sits like a catbird above the fray and his idiotic minions work behind the scenes to sow chaos and move the primary dates up.
Via Hot Air, there is now an article out showing that Mitt Romney worked with John Holdren to craft his EPA policy as governor. As a matter of fact, the entire memo, announcing Mitt’s policy is located at Hot Air.com. I don’t know how to imbed links or I would have. Just a precursory glance at this memo should raise the hackles on the back of your neck. To sum it up, it is precisely the exact same EPA policy that Obama is pushing now nationally and what a small, small world it is, when we can see that Mitt used Holdren and Obama also now has him as one of his czars. Romneycare=Obamacare, and now we can add Romney’s EPA policy=Obama’s EPA policy. Mitt is one of those firm believers in AGW-right along with Christie, and just recently, I watched a video where Mitt did some sort of press conference screaming at the camera that a factory in Mass was KILLING people. How many more hints do we need that Mitt is NOT a conservative-in fact is not even a republican? How many more slaps across the face? How many more excuses must we make to ourselves that”oh, it’s just because it was Mass. you see and he had to work with a liberal legislature?” Need to be scared a little more? Let’s look into John Holdren and his lovely wife-both of whom work for and with the Center for American Progress (Van Jones’s new gig too-as I said ,small world…),Think Progress, and George Soros.
John Holdren, whom Barack Obama has recently appointed Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology — informally known as the United States’ Science Czar. In a book Holdren co-authored in 1977-named, Ecoscience, the man now firmly in control of science policy in this country wrote that:

• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food;
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who “contribute to social deterioration” (i.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility” — in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force.

Think he couldn’t have possibly said these things? Wrong, every one of them is a direct quote from his own book for example:
Page 787-8: Mass sterilization of humans though drugs in the water supply is OK as long as it doesn’t harm livestock

Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.

OK, John, now you’re really starting to scare me. Putting sterilants in the water supply? While you correctly surmise that this suggestion “seems to horrify people more than most proposals,” you apparently are not among those people it horrifies. Because in your extensive list of problems with this possible scheme, there is no mention whatsoever of any ethical concerns or moral issues. In your view, the only impediment to involuntary mass sterlization of the population is that it ought to affect everyone equally and not have any unintended side effects or hurt animals. But hey, if we could sterilize all the humans safely without hurting the livestock, that’d be peachy! The fact that Holdren has no moral qualms about such a deeply invasive and unethical scheme (aside from the fact that it would be difficult to implement) is extremely unsettling and in a sane world all by itself would disqualify him from holding a position of power in the government. (h/t to Zombie news). Holdren is also on the record as wanting to give animals ,insects, and plants the right to sue in court. What the he!! is Mitt Romney, a CONSERVATIVE right?, even DOING 100 feet from a man with these ideals??????????/-this book was written in 1977! There is no way he was not aware of this, Harvard prof or not! Now let’s look at his dear wife Dr. Cheryl E. Holdren, bio scientist extraordinaire from…wait for it…Harvard-of course! The good Dr is involved in bio engineering ,through sterilization and population control, insects and butterflies- or at least so far anyway.. This married couple actually believes in global population control via either forced abortion, or sterilizing against their knowledge or will”undesirables” such as handicapped or mentally retarded people. Presumably that would mean with both sexes. They believe that single mothers should have their babies forcibly taken away to be raised by older more mature couples. That is not an exaggeration or hyperbole-it is directly quoted in his book. Please visit www.zombieland/JohnHoldren and read the entire article which details minutely everything I have stated here. The author has tabbed and cross tabbed extensively so you can really see for yourself. Caution though, make sure to drink a nice long swig of pepto before reading, because you will be sick to your stomach by the time you are finished.
This brings me to the point of this diary- we simply cannot allow these kind of freaks anywhere near having control over our lives through D.C. Yes, I am aware that Holdren is currently Obama’s science czar, but because he is under a progressive president, we keep an eagle eye on all of this egotistical know it all’s movements. Imagine should we have a pseudo-conservative President Romney and he sneaks Holdren in through the back door, or WORSE, simply just keeps him in place? Why wouldn’t he? He’s already worked with him in the past for pete’s sake! That is a chance I am unwilling to take.
We cannot allow an AGW believer the keys to the white house and the ability to craft EO’s giving the EPA and scum like Holdren more control over ours or our children’s lives. The AGW scam will be the undoing of us as a country. There are currently two believers in AGW who are being pushed at us as top tier candidates for President-Romney and Cain. Romney hems and haws but we have a record to judge him by and really he passed quite a few laws that cannot be walked back. Cain is more of a stealth AGW believer, or at least that is the conclusion I draw considering he sat on the board of directors of Avila, which was a “green” company that sold carbon and energy shares to it’s employees-Enron style. And Enron style, it too went belly up , causing it’s employees to lose everything and later sue in a class action lawsuit-which was settled out of court for an undisclosed sum of money. If Herman is not a believer in AGW, why would he sit on the board of a company that did and swindled it’s employees? Either he didn’t believe in it, but sat on the board just for the money knowing it was a scam, or he DOES believe in AGW and didn’t think it was a scam, but still wanted to make some money(capitalist-I have no problem with that) but he can’t have it both ways. Not willing to take a chance on that one.
Newt we all know is a proponent of AGW, Bachmann is a definite NO, but has no shot at winning and Paul is nuts. That leaves Perry, who is a very loud and aggressive opponent of the EPA. he has a long and consistent record of fighting them tooth and nail in Texas-in fact his new energy plan spells that out pretty clearly. he wants to repeal The clean Air act that gave them so much power over things that have nothing to do with Clean Air at all. Perry is not just talking out of both sides of his mouth, he can and has backed up everything he has claimed in this scenario.
is he perfect-nope, and he really shouldn’t be if we are honest, but does he have the right recipe for our country. Yes. Mitt has demonstrated ,once again that he a.) can’t be trusted,b.) has no judgement of long term consequences and c.) as Rush said Thurs.- he is NOT a conservative, but a blue dog dem at best and a progressive hiding in moderate clothing like Obama at worst.
The RINO establishment is trying to work behind the scenes to force Romney on us,betting we will vote for him even though we don’t want him because we don’t want Obama. This is their perfect chance to get a more “sophisticated, realistic.reasonable” so called Republican into office at the helm. He believes in the same things they believe in and they’ve decided for us- our opinions are quaint, but unwanted. Us well meaning citizens are being led by the nose via NRO,and the rest of the establishment, TOWARDS a candidate (Cain) who everyone knows does not have the money, experience,or even campaign staff to win the nomination and AWAY from the candidate who can (Perry) who has the experience, money, campaign structure and record to win not only the nomination but the general. We are willing suckers in their little Versailles like plot to plant little hit pieces ,put out concern trolls, talking heads like York and Trinko to create the narrative. Who decided these people had any say? Stop reading their crap, stop watching their crap, stop buying their crap and make your decision based on your common sense and gut.I made a joke once that wouldn’t it be hysterically if at the ballot box we were handed a memo outlining each candidates actual record in office, his votes, statements, planks he ran on and the ones he actually put into practice and the people he surrounded himself with, his budget shortfalls or windfalls, etc, etc. There would be no names, just an option A and an option B,etc, no pictures, just a vote for his/her record and stances. Would sure save a lot on campaigning and we’d see pretty quickly which side our country was on ideology wise. No need for talking heads, or campaign activists masking themselves as journalists.
Let’s stop the bloodletting amongst conservatives and hold Romney’s feet to the fire. The candidates who refuse to do that will have shown their cards, the ones who challenge him hard will be the ones to watch. Those would be the ones to coalesce around. To date, the ONLY one I’ve seen do that in any meaningful way is Perry. So we either continue with the sniping or put the gun down, quit participating with the media’s little game and force Romney to defend himself. It’s either beat them at their own snotty game, or watch Romney waltz right in. “The science is settled “you see, just ask Mitt Romney and John Holdren.

Or at least, it appears that is how he sees himself. As a supporter for Cain, this week has been a real eye opener. He was my second choice, but now has fallen to the bottom, below Bachmann if not completely off the list. I am somewhat at a loss to explain the past week’s actions unless I come to an unseemly conclusion that one of these scenarios is the truth:
1.) Cain was never serious about running for president, he was all along planning to be appointed Romney’s VP. It does not escape my notice that Romney owns Clear Channel Communications, which I believe, until recently, was Cain’s employer as a radio talk show host, whether or not this has any relevancy is up for debate. It still must be given some thought. Both men are business men, both are used to making back room deals- I believe I read somewhere that Cain even admitted in an interview that he and Romney had made a deal not to go after each other, which makes no sense if you consider there will only be ONE nominee and at some point ,if Cain is serious, he will HAVE NO CHOICE but to go after Romney. Was he planning on going after Perry to challenge his conservative creds and after finishing him off, dropping out of the race for whatever reason, leaving Romney as the only candidate left standing-hence crowning himself as a kingmaker? Sounds loony, but what else makes sense?

2.) I read that Cain runs his campaign with basically a skeleton staff. I also read that after the last debate and straw poll win, that Cain’s communication adviser resigned and took her senior assistant with her. That absolutely baffles me. I cannot come up with a rational explanation for why a campaign adviser would leave a campaign after such a big win and leave him with no one to lead his communications team. Maybe SHE might resign based on reason’s having nothing to do with the campaign, but why would she take her senior assistant too? It doesn’t add up. Thus it tends to make me think these gaffes and participating in the racial smearing of a fellow Republican for political gain are either the product of an inexperienced political naif or the calculated attempts at gaining media coverage, albeit very,VERY,badly carried out in process. This plan might have been why this women packed up and left wanting no part of it. Cain is not a politician, so up until yesterday, I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, a little bit of extra space to feel his way around the political stage. Then I watched him say he would support the voter’s choice of a nominee and would give everyone ELSE 100 percent ,except Perry. He went one further by stating he wouldn’t even entertain being Perry’s vice president if asked, anyone else but Perry. At that point, his campaign rocket that had been on the ascent, did a complete nose dive and crashed hard into the ground before bursting into all consuming flames. ARE these the actions of a rookie, or are they the actions of a cold mind trying to remove another candidate no matter what the consequence. It is clear that Cain does not just want to get the nod as the sole conservative, he wants to DESTROY Perry, ruin any political chance he has now or even in the future-PALIN STYLE. His actions speak louder than words. I can’t help but come to this conclusion but the real question is WHY?

3.) This leads me to my very last glimmer of an idea. It could be all wrong, it could not, but I think it has something to do with the Fed. Perry wants to get rid of the Fed, wants it audited and it’s books and members made public. We all know the Fed is compromised of the very wealthy banks, etc, it has even been said that some of those banks are foreign and some of those banks took government bail outs. People just don’t know WHO. Cain was the head of the Fed in Kansas, was for TARP and is against auditing the Fed. He did not like Perry’s remark about Bernanke printing more money and creating inflation, and his 999 plan amounts to a tax increase of 9 percent in addition to whatever other taxes you pay in your state and cities, thus supposedly keeping down inflation and perhaps allowing the fed to print MORE. But how about you keep down inflation by not printing more money instead? Could some of the big banks be behind Cain’s vehemence toward Perry? Much finer minds then my own could ponder this more deeply and come to an entirely different conclusion and I would welcome, in fact seek their input.

4.) ORRRR, Cain might, indeed, have decided to throw caution to the wind, and destroy all good will towards him and his campaign, by going extremely negative on a fellow candidate because he mistakenly thinks the tea party and conservatives who support him WANT to see that directed at OTHER Republicans, INSTEAD, of Obama. Where he could have gotten that idea is beyond me and shows an incredible lack of understanding of the feeling in this country. We don’t want to see one conservative participating in racially smearing another conservative. We don’t want to see intentionally misleading statements(soft on immigration) made by a man who prefaces his statement with the line “I have not read all of his positions on immigration yet….BUT”, and we certainly don’t want to see a candidate actually FOMENT the rise of a third party candidate by saying he wouldn’t support a nominee 100 percent. That just screams of an amateur, someone without the necessary thinking capacity to realize when he has been played for a fool by the media and others. I would really appreciate other’s views on this, am not afraid of criticism, or debate.

We had our bi- monthly tea party meeting here last night and as is our usual pattern, our group leaders had gathered together clips of interviews, debates, shots of newspaper articles, and if possible transcripts of radio interviews to be put onto a power point presentation on the big screen so we all can see it. We usually do this for each of the serious candidates. This time we focused on Romney,Perry, and Cain- all the rest are inconsequential and should not be in the race at all.

A little background first, We are currently stationed at a base in Georgia, even though we are registered voters in Texas via absentee because we are a military family. We have a tea party of around 550 people, (in a neighboring city)although our numbers swell when there are trips, or events to attend. Our make up is mostly seniors, with about 50 percent, 30-40 year olds come in around another 40 percent and under thirty comes in at 10 percent. Because we are near a military base, we have all nationalities, all races represented.

After we show our little presentation, we open up the floor for feedback to see where our group stands at this moment, what we have issues with and would like to see addressed, the negatives, the positives,etc.,etc. This group was decidedly pro-Perry last time, with a few Romney supporters and a few Cain supporters, the month before(Aug) it had been pro-Bachmann. After showing clips of the last debate, we showed the interviews with each candidate.
Perry got a negative reaction at first for immigration (heartless comment), but then his subsequent interview explaining his stance in detail and his apology for the heartless comment righted that sinking ship PDQ. The consensus came to the conclusion he is not good at debates- the same as last time.
Cain got positive feedback from the debate, but then shot himself in the foot with the interview on CNN saying he would not support Perry if he were the nominee. Then we showed the tape with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday and the reaction was VISCERAL, downright fury. Living in the south and the same state Cain is from, we are all so damn tired of the race card being played, especially in the case of a story that originated from the WAPO and had only vague details, anonymous sources and regarded a rock from decades ago. Cain jumped on it- and completely undid all the good he has done in the past few weeks. “Cambridge police acted stupidly” was said by quite a few people.
Romney has never done well with our group, and this time was no exception, debate wise, few people knew he had written a hard copy book let alone that he had edited out language referring to Romneycare in his paperback when he decided to run and Obamacare was so unpopular. That was another strike, then came the ad from Romney saying Perry was for illegal immigration, which having just seen Perry explain his stance on in state tuition moments before, was demonstrably false and the reaction to Romney’s ad were scoffs of disgust. At my advice, one of our leaders put together a flow chart of Romney’s many stances on major issues, each with dates for comparison -she did it in the starburst fashion with the issue in a circle in the center and the various positions coming out like rays so you could really see the multiple changes. It was a sight to see- somebody took a copy so he could show it at his job.
So what was the final consensus? No body’s mind was changed, the Romney voters (all 4 percent of them) are still going with Romney, the majority who are planning to vote for Perry are still planning to vote for Perry and the biggest winner of the debate,Cain, dinged himself by saying he would not support Perry as a nominee. People were willing to overlook that, but after showing the Wallace interview, he just devastated himself , people wondered out loud, if like Obama, they disagreed with Cain on an issue would he then play the race card on them too? Also having been for TARP and then hesitant on investigating the FED, how sure could they be that he wasn’t after all, willing to spend our money like a big government Republican? The race card was a deal breaker, all new polling coming out now doubtfully was taken before that statement and will also just as surely, later show a steep drop.
FTR, I am a Perry voter and will vote for him regardless (we are from Texas and have known and lived under his policies for years) , the majority of my tea party will do the same and believe they can’t trust a single word the media writes or utters(sadly FOX is now also in this category), short of Perry committing murder or a felony crime, all of these people will still vote for him. The same cannot be said about Romney- we hear an alarming amount of people stating(mostly the seniors) that they will not vote for him period. If there is a third party they will vote for that person instead . One elderly guy said very matter of factly to me,” If these young voters turn out to be fools and decide to go for ANOTHER greasy car salesman who will say anything to be elected then let them own it, I ain’t gonna live for ever and I will not vote for a non conservative, so if all that is left is a protest vote-so be it” I’ve said this many times, but IMHO, Romney cannot be elected in the South- he is pro/anti/pro/anti abortion and both he and his wife donated to Planned Parenthood,he is a decidedly anti-2nd amendment, big government, AGW believing, pro taxing and the real clincher is Romney care. Even selecting a Rubio or a southern VP will not save him with those stances. He has no chance whatsoever in our area. These meetings only solidify for me the feeling out here away from the D.C. beltway and metro areas.
So, regardless of the media narrative of Perry’s campaign crashing and burning, regardless of polls,etc-nothing has changed here except Cain’s favorable opinion. It is interesting that in spite of the polling and media stories, Mitt is STILL putting out attack ads and hit pieces on Perry-he shows who he really fears and knows Cain is indeed the flavor of the month. Cain is still my second choice, although he has really fallen in my eyes this past week. I hope he can redeem himself because he is for the most part a good decent guy who just does not have the political experience to avoid stepping into these media traps, he is in for some real on the job training.

I’ll be upfront and say I am Rick Perry fan, having lived in Texas and under his governance and been pretty much satisfied with his tenure. However, I am also a big fan of Herman Cain , and have been since I first saw him on Sean Hannity’s show years ago. I like his business sense and candor as well as his support for Israel. I can see myself supporting Cain very easily should he get the nomination, I just have doubt that he actually will. All polling aside, this is still a two man race, Michele Bachmann has just been replaced by Herman Cain. Of course, should Perry not be able to recover(and having seen him in action in prior years, I have no doubt he can),this might become a race against Cain and Romney.
To look at the two, you can already see the headlines being written by the RINOs in the media-” Herman Cain is a good business man, but Romney has business experience AND executive experience”, unfortunately for Cain, I agree with Rush- the RNC establishment does NOT want a conservative to get the nomination. Should Cain gain traction over Perry, they will attack him just as viciously, go after his experience, his health ruthlessly, his lack of foreign policy chops, compare his inexperience to Obama’s. You know it will happen ,folks.Romney will not hesitate to push others to trash Cain, as his goal is to use the conservatives to take each other down and try to be the last man standing.
Now, having explained how I feel about the above, I am frankly MYSTIFIED as to why Herman Cain would tell Wolf Blitzer last night that if Perry was to become the nominee that he could not support him because of illegal immigration. He COULD however, support Mitt Romney if he double pinkie promises to repeal Obamacare. That is a stunning statement to make. Mitt Romney will promise anything to anyone to get the nomination-it would require an extensive flow chart to keep track of Romney’s many flip flops over the years. He has taken two or more stands on basically every issue in the last twenty years. You cannot look at his past doings with clear eyes and not see that track record. Therefore his promises are what Mary Poppin’s termed as “pie crust”-easily made and easily broken depending on which way the polls or political winds are shifting. His spine is steel, it is just hinged and well greased to sway to and fro.
Cain made a SERIOUS error with his statement to Blitzer, the Hispanic vote will now pull away from him as will any who research into the issue and draw their own conclusions as to the validity of the texas law and how it is being framed. Cain will drop precipitously in the polls because of it ,mark my words. People are turning to Cain because they do not WANT or TRUST Romney and CAIN has not resorted to name calling and criticism, the absolute worst thing he can do at this point is to crater any momentum he has by starting to trash other conservatives. I am starting to get the feeling,(my own FWIW) that Romney is talking to the other candidates behind the scenes and getting them to try and take down Perry for him,Perry hurt himself with the immigration thing, but Bachmann,Santorum, and Cain are also starting to attack him and it eventually ends up hurting THEM. Don’t they have a shred of foresight to see that they are winnowing the field of themselves-the CONSERVATIVES in this race. That would leave Romney, who is NOT a conservative-not really even a republican, to become our nominee. ANOTHER John McCain.ANOTHER Bob Dole, ANOTHER GHWBush. i don’t know if Mitt is promising these people cabinet positions or what, but to believe any promises he makes to them shows a lack of character judgment. Furthermore, at least to me, if shows the willingness to sacrifice one’s own principles to get ahead politically. Bachmann did it with the Gardisil and mental retardation lie, Santorum did it with the immigration attack, and now Cain is coming perilously close to doing it himself with this Blitzer statement. all to Romney’s gain.
This isn’t an epsiode of Survivor where the players make alliances and back stab, and double cross each other all for money- this is our COUNTRY. We can’t afford to have conservatives railing against each other and not Obama, destroying all the other conservatives in the race, and giving the DNC years worth of ammunition against our eventual nominee, meanwhile, the wolf in sheep’s clothing(Romney) hides behind his grin and waits in the balcony for the gnashing of teeth and bloodshed to finally be over so he can walk in , throw on the conservative mantel and claim to be the only adult in the room worth electing. How would he change his tune in the general I wonder to gain independents, now that the “fringe hard right” has been taken out during our primary and he is our nominee? The conservative party and our country will lose because this country will not elect Mitt Romney, simply put, he cannot win the south or any state that has gun’s rights as a major plank of their state. Neither could Chris Christie. Romney flops, Obama wins, our country and the world stumbles the way of ancient Rome and we have only ourselves to blame for playing foolish, petty, childish games and destroying everything we have fought for in the process.

I don’t consider myself an expert on polls whatsoever, that would be Neil Steven’s purview. However, I did pull up the internals on the Winthrop College poll showing Perry only leading Romney by about 4. It’s actually quite interesting to put it mildly. Let’s take a look- 1552 registered voters interviewed by phone by college kids. 596 were Republicans and Republican ‘leaners’. In other words, 2/3s | Read More »

I don’t consider myself an expert on polls whatsoever, that would be Neil Steven’s purview. However, I did pull up the internals on the Winthrop College poll showing Perry only leading Romney by about 4. It’s actually quite interesting to put it mildly. <del></del>Let’s take a look-

1552 registered voters interviewed by phone by college kids. 596 were Republicans and Republican ‘leaners’. In other words, 2/3s of those surveyed were not Republican, nor indies who lean Republican (read: not conservative), nor will they vote in the Republican primary.

To repeat-That means that out of the 1552 voters interviewed-956-were not going to be voting in the Republican primaries at all! 75 percent were democrats in this poll and yet somehow, Perry STILL has a four point lead. This poll also has a margin of error of nearly 5 percentage points which pretty much makes it junk off of the top,IMHO. I find it mighty curious that in South Carolina, for Heaven’s sake!, this college couldn’t find 1552 registered REPUBLICANS to put in their poll of the REPUBLICAN PRIMARY? Why the need to muddy the waters by adding in any democrats at all,let alone 2/3 of the sample? Unless, your goal was to make a headline for your college? Perhaps to make it appear as if there is a possibility of a Romney surge in that state? I’ve seen some establishment type republicans jump on this poll in near desperation. I always look at precisely WHO these types are and they are always the same cast of characters-Karl Rove(axe to grind),Dick Morris(paid adviser who Perry turned down),Trinko from National Review,ETC,ETC. Pretty much whatever these three spout off, I consider the exact opposite to be the case in reality. So far all three rant and rave about SSN being a dead weight albatross around Perry’s neck-everyone but these three know that not to be the case and yet they repeat it ad nauseum and will look for ANY tiny little speck of hope, regardless of credibility,to back up their claim.
If South Carolina votes for Romney,I will donate my house to charity. That simply is not going to happen,if you live in the south -you simply know the feeling of the people here, not only is he a Yankee(believe me that matters),he enacted Romneycare(death knell in the south for his campaign),his position on abortion changes repeatedly(deal breaker), and he obviously PANDERS-no straight talk or uncomfortable truths that you have known in your gut all along but were just CHOMPING AT THE BIT for a person in a position of authority to say out loud. I have looked at this poll in all ways possible and it is clear to me that it was put out to push a meme. It is junk, however, I would be quite curious to see how DEMOCRATIC primaries in the different states would play out if 2/3 of the voters polled were actually REPUBLICAN voters who wouldn’t be able to vote in said primaries regardless,so their opinions absolutely made no difference anyway. Yes,QUITE INTERESTED,INDEED.

As I have said before, it constantly amazes me to watch what the media describes as “experienced” senior campaign advisers fail to follow through and do their research. “Know thy enemy” is the first rule of politics 101 and yet supposed ” unbeatable” campaign influence peddlers have failed to learn this lesson when it comes to Rick Perry. I t is downright amusing to watch the show.
My husband is a Texan, born and bred. Our active duty son is stationed in Ft Hood ,Texas and even though my husband is also active duty and we are stationed in Georgia-he still never misses a vote-albeit absentee. To understand the mindset of a Texan is easy- they are straight talkers ,no political correctness needed. There is no need to couch your words carefully because it would be considered a negative here. These men and women are hard workers, usually God fearing, take no crap, give it to me straight kind of people. I challenge the premise that people from other states are any different for the most part.
Perry is the epitome of the above listed adjectives. There is no need to gild the lily and no desire to “become” a DC accepted politician. There are a few of us on this board who are Texans and we have had front row seats to The Perry Campaign in action. He always follows the same MO. Long before a candidacy has even been announced, his team has gamed out a variety of different tactics. All of Perry’s written words, bills signed, public statements, past friendships, etc. have been scoured with a fine tooth comb. Expected opponents records, written statements, public speeches, statements, bills, etc have also been gone through just as precisely, and like a prosecutor preparing for a high profile court case, for each perceived negative of Perry’s, a counterpoint from the opponent’s own actions in the past has been identified and enlarged upon. Once this has been accomplished,it s show time.
Perry’s people will either leak something Perry has said that is “damaging” in the past or will leak something written to the media. It is either this or it is said in a debate or press conference. His campaign will give the opponent the time (perhaps a day, perhaps a week) to pontificate, make numerous statements to the media, put out an op-ed or a flier and then BOOM! out of no where comes the carefully researched counter punch from the Perry team. They will usually do it in the most public and splashy way-guaranteed to knock the opponent on his/her knees. He/or she will either have to back up their past actions or restate or renege on the ones just uttered. The opponent will have to have a hinged spine in order to whipsaw back and forth trying to re-cover. The opponent forgot to check for long term consequences before he JUMPED for the bait so temptingly hanging out there. I have witnessed this happen to both Karl Rove and to David Axelrod’s candidates.
Perry wrote his book with eye popping statements specifically designed to encourage these exact responses. Romney and Bachmann are fools to have fallen so easily for a tactic they could have so easily seen coming if they hadn’t written Perry off as “unelectable” or “too much of a bomb thrower.” Self inflicted wounds are so often fatal and in Romney’s case-he will either have to re-iterate what he wrote in his book or follow through with the words he rushed out this week. Either option is guaranteed to make him look even more indecisive, more of a flip flopper and more and more like just a typical politician who say or do anything to get elected. His words to HANNITY last week were the most telling-”Sean- you just can’t SAY those things and get elected.” Bachmann would be wise to rein in her campaign and go in another direction entirely, and yet she won’t and it will destroy her credibility as well. Political Judo-where the candidate sets a trap, lets his opponent fall in,entangle themselves in a web created by their own words and actions. Another commenter came up with that statement but they work so well that I have used them here. Watch the show start to unfold and see if Perry’s tried and true tactics don’t play out exactly like I have written here. For the record though,he is my guy.

the ever evolving narrative Carney has to stick to-(H/T-to the boys at Bookworm)

1) There was a firefight.
2) There was no firefight.
3) Bin Laden was “resisting.”
4) Bin Laden wasn’t armed. (Makes the concept of “resisting” interesting.)
[4.a) And the newest one: the SEALS thought bin Laden was reaching for a weapon.]
5) He used his wife as a shield.
6) His wife was killed too.
7) He didn’t use his wife as a shield. She ran at a SEAL who shot her in the leg, but she’s fine.
8 ) Some other woman — the maid? — was used as a shield. By somebody. Downstairs.
9) That other woman — downstairs — was killed.
10) Maybe not. She was killed unless she wasn’t — and who was she, anyway?
11) Bin Laden’s son was killed.
12) Unless it was some other guy.
13) Bin Laden’s daughter saw him get killed. She’s undoubtedly traumatized, poor dear.
14) They were going to capture Bin Laden until the problem with the helicopter, which was:
A) It had mechanical trouble
B) It did a hard landing
C) It crashed
D) It clipped a wall with a tail rotor, effectively a crash

15.) They were never going to try to capture him; it was always a kill mission.
16.) No, it wasn’t.
17) The chopper blew up.
18) The SEALs blew it up.
19.) Panetta said yesterday the world needed proof and the photo would be released.
20.) Obama said today in an interview he taped with Steve Kroft for “60 Minutes” to be broadcast Sunday that it won’t be released. It’s too gruesome, would offend Muslim sensibilities (something he worries about a lot — I personally do not give a warm fart on a wet Wednesday about Muslim sensibilities), and how would Americans feel if Muslims released pictures of dead Americans?
21.) Kroft — who’s not a total idiot — pointed out that ever since “Black Hawk Down” days, Muslims have been doing precisely that, filming American bodies being dragged through the streets, filming Daniel Pearl’s head being cut off, filming any and everything.
22) Obama gets pissed at CBS, the tape gets cleaned up, that question disappears. (Inside info.)
23.) We got a “treasure trove” of stuff from hard drives, etc.
24.) There were no phone lines, and no internet access at the “mansion,” they didn’t even have TV — what “treasure trove?”
25.) There is obviously in the pictures of the place a large satellite dish. I guess they used it for making salads.
26.) And now, just today: apparently the idea was to capture him, but only if he was naked. There was a suspicion he might be wearing a suicide bomber type explosive vest, or belt. So if he’s not naked and you can’t see if he has a vest on or not – shoot him.

Is this really “fog of war”?
*

According to the latest from Rasmussen, Angle has now tied with Reid. Color me shocked, I have to wonder if Reid’s internal polling is showing something similar and this is why he put out his mosque comment? Too funny that after all of the money and negative advertising dear Harry has thrown at Angle nothing seems to stick for very long. Sometime in the last week, Angle was able to seize the narrative and force Reid to respond to her instead of her campaign having to defend every remark, etc. It’s all downhill from here for Reid- and in the larger picture, it is all downhill for the entire democratic party since Obama’s mosque debacle. The dems and media tried to paint the repubs as having nominated extreme candidates and were trying to run with that narrative until Obama opened his yap, and once again, changed the entire news cycle with his pandering. I can’t decide who looks worse here-Reid,Obama, the dems in general, or the media for being slobbering sychophants? I’ll choose option E- all of the above.

Bravo General! As a career soldier, I can see the point about not bringing up bad blood while in uniform, to a reporter, and most especially about our CIC-however,knowing generals as I do, I am 100% positive that ALL of these remarks have been said face to face ,behind closed doors as well. From a admittedly jaundiced view, I conclude that the General, frustrated by the “wimps in the white house” and their ridiculous rules of engagement,on again, off again participation and pathetic timetable for making decisions-decided to go straight into the eye of the storm and force the country and president to for once take a stand. McChrystal is a stand up,no nonsense cut through the bull **** kinda guy. Indifference and inaction costs lives- and he’d probably had just about enough of it. In the same way that he forced the narrative on the troop surge by giving a speech in London,he has now shrewdly gone to the one place he can be assured will jump all over it and throw it out there for the entire world to shine a light on-that place would,of course,be the media and most definitely Rolling Stone magazine. How will Obama side step the issue now? Simply firing the general will not fix the core issues, and Obama’s blundering, bumbling, dis jointed ramblings will now be examined even more thoroughly, it would appear that the brilliant general has taken one for the team-the military team to be exact. It was basically the only thing he could have done, everything else would have been swept under the rug and hidden from public view. In the same way that Sarah Palin cannily used the press against itself, McChrystal has shrewdly followed suit-and they aren’t even aware of it yet. I expect he will resign, but the wound has come unstitched and is now a gaping maw-fixing the injury to Obama will be complex, challenging, and must be done in at an extremely rapid pace-three things Obama fails at again and again. General McChrystal reminds me of Queen Elizabeth the first’s chief adviser- Sir William Cecil- who was perhaps the craftiest, shrewedst man to have ever had the job-he knew precisely how to corral the queen into following his advice by first playing on her vanity, and second by embarrassing her in front of her court-the parallels are amazing and the most amazing part is that neither the media, the pundits, nor the president himself have grasped that they have been played by a master.

Perhaps I am just becoming paranoid, but the words “never let a crisis go to waste” keeps flashing through my mind as I recall the last three weeks. First on April 6th we have a deadly explosion in a coal mine in West Virginia which resulted in the deaths of dozens of workers. Coincidentally, the Massey mine also pushed out union control in recent years. I had a sick feeling when it first happened for the families and hoped ,like everyone else, that the missing miners would be found alive. I saw that at least two were, and then were rushed off to a local hospital, but not before Chinese reporters noted the bizarre fact that both were clean shaven-after 40 plus hours of being inside the mine. Possible yes, probable? hmmm-as a woman who has been married for over twenty years-my husband needs a shave after about 8 hours-40 and he would be working on a beard. I choose option B for definitely not probable. Something doesn’t add up with this one.

Then , we have the oil rig explosion off of the coast of Louisiana. The Deepwater Horizon oil rig, has an explosion and as if on cue, the media and newspapers scream about pollution in the water and new EPA regulations needed. This all happens about a month after Obama signs an executive order opening up some areas for deepwater drilling, much to his liberal base’s dismay. Am I crazy here or is is it just a little too convenient that in the exact same month that Obama and the senate are starting to push a cap and trade bill, not one ,but TWO catastrophes happen that they rush to portray as proof positive that more EPA regulation is just the cure required? I’ll accept the paranoid moniker, but should we see a natural gas explosion or crisis of some kind-we seem to have a pattern . There is an appropriate saying that the Marines use that I will paraphrase here- “ONCE IS HAPPENSTANCE,TWICE IS A COINCIDENCE,THREE TIMES IS ENEMY ACTION.” It does not escape my notice that each one of Obama’s policy initiatives and the resulting bill, has been precluded by an “emergency” of some sort. One is left to wonder if these crises are generated to get the desired effect or just miraculously happen at just the right time to get an agenda item passed. I’m not a betting woman, but 2 and 2 are not adding up to four here. I will wait very patiently for someone to prove me wrong in my suspicions.

I have seen multiple articles already on various websites stating “no entitlement program has ever been repealed.” I challenge that assumption and use FDR,THE NEW DEAL, AND THE CONSERVATIVE COALITION as my case in point.

A quick look back at the years 1935 and 1936 reminds us that in that time the Supreme Court struck down 8 of FDR’s social welfare programs as being unconstitutional. This resulted in his fatal overreach . He referred to SCOTUS as “nine old men” to garner public support and then thinking he had the people’s and the Congress’s backing, FDR then attempted to water down his opposition. Upset that the Court was hampering, even destroying, his successes in Congress, FDR submitted a bill to the Congress that doomed his ” 100 days plan to jam bills through congress” SOUND FAMILIAR? Known as court packing, FDR submitted a proposal to force mandatory retirement

on any Justice over a certain age (which would have eliminated three of his opponents) and to expand the size of the Supreme Court from 9 to 12. Congress was outraged that anyone would try to control the Supreme Court like that and suddenly became much less amenable to FDR’s further attempts at legislation.

FDR didn’t have much of a choice in “court packing.” It made no difference that he had a free hand with Congress if the Supreme Court nullified and invalidated everything that the Congress passed! He was forced to play the only card he had—support in Congress—to try to reduce the Court’s ability to hamstring his New Deal legislation. In this gamble Mr. Roosevelt lost. He remained an effective president and did much to ease the Great Depression, but never again was he given such a free hand in creating law and initiating policy.

That brings me to my second point, which is that with New Deal programs that were not struck down. a small group in congress known as the conservative coalition stuck together , even in the face of overwhelming democratic majorities in both houses. By holding their ground and remaining resolved, the conservative coalition was able to shut down a large part of the NEW DEAL when the US entered WWII.

If we look to our history as “guideline “, we can see the parallels of our past repeating themselves today.Lucky for us , we also have a blueprint on how to defeat a whole new crop of entitlement programs. The way forward is known-we need the WILL to get it done. I think we have it and I am committed to doing whatever is required of me.

Hi y’all-I was unfortunate enough to not be able to make it D.C. with everyone and thought I’d share (okay vent) my thoughts with everyone. Although this seems like a crushing loss to us all-it would appear a vital need for us all (okay, okay ME) is to separate the emotion from the facts.

Fact 1)-We let ourselves get complacent and forgot about our civic duties that were given to us through other’s costly and hard won efforts via the constitution. How many of us were sure to vote but didn’t really do a whole lot of research on candidates or just voted on ballots where there were names we were unaware of,but voted for ,nonetheless because there was an R by their names? How many of us knew the constitution front to back before last year? How many of us paid attention to votes on CSPAN and checked our side’s rhetoric against their voting record. I’d hazard a guess at not many, myself included. As bizarre and uncomfortable as the notion is-Obama handed us a GREAT gift-through his own inept ,deaf and partisan efforts-he managed to do what seemed impossible a year ago-he galvanized an entire nation to shake off their stupor and GET INVOLVED. There will be no more half hearted elections any longer where we vote for the lesser of two evils. We are no longer uninformed and rely on media outlets and pundits to spoon feed us their interpretations and agendas. Many of us rarely if ever used twitter, facebook,or even internet blogs until today. The days of talking with family, friends, and neighbors-even strangers off of the streets are back with a vengeance. We are awake and we will not be falling back asleep anytime soon, democrats. We are not retreating-we are reloading.

Fact 2) I have never in my life been prouder to be a conservative, our representatives held firm in their resolve and refused to back down. Through our and their strongly held beliefs and the planks of our party-we HELD OUR GROUND and forced Obama to water his HCR bill down so much that it is a weak and feckless piece of paper. His own base got absolutely nothing out of it other than bragging rights that their president FINALLY accomplished SOMETHING after 16 months as President. I suspect that in a month or so-their euphoria will wear off and they will start looking at how they were gamed by their own party. No single payer,no medicare buy-in,no public option,a mandate(payoff) to insurance companies, less health care and the IRS breathing down their backs-reconciliation will only make it worse-YEAH

-it won’t be long before that exploding time bomb goes off in the progressive party.Call your representatives and congressmen and thank them wholeheartedly for their efforts.

Fact 3) There will be no more bills passed in this congress. The republicans to their credit held off the ENTIRE Obama agenda other than this weak version of health care.No immigration bill will make it through the senate without their 60 votes, cap and trade is gone, card check is a thing of the past, and even closing GITMO is kaput. IF reconciliation goes through the senate(and I doubt they will even attempt it),it will take another one to two months off of the docket-that brings us into June-it is an election year-there will be no more bills passed because of the need for members to get back into their districts to campaign(er,plead with their constituents). That buys us time-we will use every single second of it.

Fact 4) We must now take one to two days to cry in the closet, down a bottle of Jack,or beat an inanimate object up(may I recommend chopping wood, kneading bread, or the rifle range?-my personal favorite is screaming while I mow the lawn, but alas, the grass isn’t up yet.THEN ,we MUST jump full board into the upcoming election. ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES-We will make darn sure that Obama and the dimwit, deaf democrats will learn this the very hard and painful way. Candidate research is especially important . Everyday, all day make it a goal to talk to at least three new people regarding conservative principals-a lot of people don’t know what they believe and go along with the crowds-we need to stem that tide. I plan to walk neighborhoods,go to churches, grocery stores and public events and hand out literature. If it is a fair,a community event, at a restaurant-whatever get your talking points out and start talking. We are all already doing that-we need to KEEP doing that, myself included.

Fact 5) It is time to tune out the media chatter for the next week, ignore the bragging from left wing news media who will be sure to inflate polls, hype the democratic message, and report breathlessly on their chosen one. Their desperation for something,ANYTHING good to report tells us all we need to know. Instead, turn your eyes to your families, take a hard look at your finances and tighten your belts as much as possible for any upcoming economic disasters that could befall us, and continue going to church and praying. We will get through this one second at a time, one minute at a time and one day at a time. In the military, our wives group has a saying-”We can’t all be strong all of the time, but we can borrow strength from each other when we need it” the same applies here. In the wise words of none other than YODA himself,”there is no try-you either do it or you don’t” but we all know sometimes we need a little support from others to get it done. Our founders did it,facing MUCH steeper odds and we can and WILL do it too.It is the end of the first quarter in a four quarter game, the dimwits won the first round,we will win the other three.

Fact 6) Every time Obama has tried to impose something unconstitutional it has come back to bite him hard. We saw him try to sign a treaty in Copenhagen and be forced to retreat because of Senator Inhofe and many others outing him,we saw him try to write an executive order for the EPA that congress refused to fund, we saw him try to bring terrorists to trial in NYC only to have congress refuse to fund it, we saw him try to pass an unconstitutional DEEM AND PASS strategy for health care only to have his own party members refuse to go along. These are all good signs, but I doubt they are the end of his misbegotten actions to subvert our constitution. The Marines have a saying I love” Once is happenstance, twice a coincidence, three times is enemy action.” Make no mistake-he IS the enemy of our constitution-we need to fight tooth and nail to frame his attempts in the most negative and embarrassing light as possible. Take pride in being called the “party of no” and become the” party of hell no. ” They make it easy because of their over reaching-We all need to keep an eye on these kinds of things so we can get the word out-the HERITAGE FOUNDATION is very good at researching this stuff-check them often and then tell us all about it-so what if it’s old news-push it out there, there are always going to be people who have not heard and can continue to spread the word.

Fact 7) Obviously venting (okay preaching) keeps me sane-I hope I haven’t offended anyone, these are my views and writing them down hardens my resolve and sharpens my mind-I mean no ill to anyone (other than the dimocrats, natch). Onwards and upwards,SAYOUNG

P.S.just for full disclosure, I used to be a political pollster and am manipulative by nature-just saying
