I Knew I Smelled a Rat, or The Gay Lobby Outrage Du Jour – Part Deux

Following my post on the New York Times hit piece against fast food success Chick-fil-A, Michelle Malkin has a column today on that same article. Malkin adds a new insight on it.

The piece in the Times was in the National news section of the January 30, 2011 edition, not in the Sunday Business section. As Malkin found, the author of the piece, Kim Severson, is no ordinary reporter. She has been the Atlanta bureau chief for the Times since last year. It explains how Severson knew about the gay lobbying group Georgia Equality putting out a petition to demand Chick-fil-A stop supporting organizations that the gay busybodies perceive as anti-gay. Oh, one other thing…Malkin learned Severson is openly gay. Severson put out this piece in Newsweek several years ago, which won Third Place in the 2006 National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association Excellence in Writing Award Opinion/Editorial category.

I knew I smelled a rat when the New York Times put out this article. It’s especially true since it showed up as a regular news item instead of as an opinion piece or business news. What I said at the end of my post is even more relevant:

Of course, I doubt the Times would even be interested in the success of Chick-fil-A if it weren’t for the fact the business doesn’t help push an agenda the Times wants pushed.

Or the specific political agenda of the author of this “news” article.

Let’s call a truce! Let’s not talk about it. It doesn’t have anything to do with truth, honesty, integrity, responsibility, decency, or any of that. It’s just about sex! Sheesh, Horowitz! What have you got against sex? :-)

    is completely irrelevant.

A chicken restaurant donates a few nuggets to a meeting at a church. The group holding the meeting happens to believe in traditional marriage (like the kind that produced most of the members of said group, presumably.) The group enjoys the nuggets while discussing traditional marriage issues and drinking a soft-drink toast to Mom and Dad.

This is so offensive to the NY Times that they incite a nationwide boycott of the chicken restaurant. Which lasts a day or two.

I wonder, then, if the Times would be offended by my friend Mohammed, who owns a vacuum cleaner repair shop in my neighborhood. Mohammed ALWAYS says yes to me when I go in there asking for a donation for our church auction. Our traditional-marriage-loving, conservative, Catholic church.

I’d better alert Ms. Severson immediately. Vacuum cleaner repair shop boycotts take some time to organize. . .

…when left alone, can sort things out? Your wisdom comes not from a sociology class at Bolshevik State University, but from living, and cherishing freedom .
Even in Jerusalem, different strokes for different folks doesn’t preclude decency, respect and common sense. If a cause has to be manufactured, it can’t be worth much. Thanks for your anecdote.

I used to own a company who did business(still does) with Chick fil A nationwide. A first class organization that operates with tremendous principle. Loyal to a T to long time suppliers. Still closed on Sunday but yet beat most competitors in sales that are open on Sunday.

It’s too bad the last few respectable companies such as Chick fil A get slimed by these disgusting hit pieces.

This makes the left look so desperate and stupid. I guess that is what happens when they put blind faith into a horrible leader and get dissed.

    Eat mor chick’n.

        They aren’t like a KFC.

I never heard anyone requesting a thigh meat sandwich anywhere.

I wish there were CFA’s around here!

Our CEO once told of the time that the CEO of Chick-fil-a, S. Truett Cathy, came to our HQ for a visit. The normal protocol for these events was a tour of one of the processing plants, followed by the ususal wining and dining. Cathy, however, did not want a plant tour. He told our CEO, “I’m not interested in your chicken, I’m interested in you.” and they proceeded to have a lengthy discussion about values and family. This man, and his company, truly walk the walk.

And as far as the fast food experienc goes, they are second to none. I have never been in a Chick-fil-a restaurant that is anything less than spotlessly clean. Evey employee is well-groomed, pleasant and extremely curteous. And the food is excellent.

Apparently the left will allow us our religion, but we must leave it inside the church.
