Democrats Sure Are Confusing

Newt Gingrich has raised a ruckus after calling Barack Obama the “Food Stamp President.” It’s an accurate statement since there has been a 44% increase in food stamp recipients since Obama took office. Apparently, however, Democrats haven’t figured out how to coordinate their messaging regarding Gingrich’s statement to determine if Gingrich is a typically racist Republican (since we all are, right?) or not.

For the Wages of Taxation are Downgrades

Forgive me the transgression of paraphrasing an extremely important Biblical verse. And yet, a truth presents itself that has yet to be learned by so many in high places. President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wasted months in a vain attempt to satiate their hunger for the moneys of wealthy Americans. Months. Like water to rock and stone, the state of the American economy continued to erode as they whiled away the time with vicious diatribes of hate against their fellow Americans in order to agitate the masses into a movement to guilt the peoples’ representatives towards Obama’s and Reid’s will. Thankfully, the people and their representatives were not done in to support the latest travesty sprung forth.

We’ve been told by gleeful economists who support Obama and Reid about how revenues must be increased by the taxation of the wealthy to solve the government’s debt problems and reignite the stagnant economy. And they do this knowing there is evidence proving the contrary; dissuaded they are not. Fortunately, real world object lessons continue to be produced. But will there be learning by this education? Time will tell.

Today, the teachers are the credit ratings agencies, most prominently Standard & Poors (S&P) and Moody’s.

A Newt-lear Retaliatory Strike!

CNN’s John King must have thought he had Obama’s back by bringing a smoking gun to a knife fight. Unfortunately for King, it was nothing more than a peashooter and he got hit with a Newt-lear retaliatory strike, which garnered a well-deserved standing ovation. You can watch the video over at this post by Don Surber.

Following the debate, I turned on Greta Van Susteren. She played the entire debate-opening exchange between King and Newt Gingrich, which allowed Fox News to highlight the embarrassing hypocrisy of its major cable news competitor. Greta deserves a bonus from her bosses for that.

To me, King seemed to try to direct the questioning during the debate in such a way as to allow Mitt Romney to come across as the nominee, letting Gingrich and Rick Santorum have at it with each other, and bringing in Ron Paul once in awhile when necessary. Surber had mentioned that CNN needed to regain its credibility and blew it; in the process, they very well may have given Gingrich the nomination.

I’m not so sure that’s the case, although I’ve no doubt Gingrich helped himself. It was quite a lively debate after, albeit one overshadowed by the opening.

The Gingrich-Williams Event

I have to ask this: where has the Newt that showed up the other night at the South Carolina debate been? Was that Newt kidnapped or something, playing games with Death to secure his release? Because I was getting really sick and tired of evil and stupid Newt.

Right on cue, Democrats threw their predictable hissy fit over Newt Gingrich’s sparring match with Fox News’ Juan Williams. But do Democrats have at least an inkling of a point? Or is it that within Gingrich there exists true conservatism*?

Federal Judge Assists Holder’s Fast & Furious Cover Up

A Bush appointee no less. In a ruling filed last week, U.S. District Court Judge Rosemary Collyer of the D.C. Circuit stated the following in her conclusion [emphasis mine]:

Further, ATF did not act arbitrarily or capriciously because
the reporting requirement set forth in the Demand Letter was based on relevant factors.

Apparently, when the ATF demands legal firearms dealers to sell weapons to "straw purchasers" who then sell them to Mexican gangsters, deliberately avoids tracking those weapons, and does this to implement a rule that violates the 2nd Amendment, somehow we are to believe the ATF didn't act "arbitrarily or capriciously." Something really smells. Bad.

Message of Worry From a Conservative

A couple of weeks ago, I was ruminating on the Republican candidates and figured wow, we really have a strong slate of candidates. Every one of them has some weaknesses, but their strengths should easily overcome those weaknesses and be more than enough to beat a tyrant like God-King Barack.

I really liked Rick Perry initially, but moved on to Herman Cain after Perry faltered badly early on. Even before Cain’s so-called scandals, I had looked at Newt Gingrich and thought, this guy would crush Obama, provided he didn’t go crazy. As far as Mitt Romney, I always felt he was a decent enough candidate and just conservative enough to be able to beat Obama, and I’d vote for him if he was the nominee (I voted for Romney over McCain in the 2008 Illinois primary). In fact, save Ron Paul, I believed all of the candidates were strong enough to beat Obama and I’d be happy to vote for any of them.

Then, seemingly all of a sudden, and as Romney really began leading by larger amounts in the polls, I saw Republicans acting like Democrats, attacking free enterprise. Worse, I saw Romney being nice about Barack Obama. And on top of that, Romney somewhat equated what he did at Bain in the private sector with what Obama did to Government Motors. Now, I’m worried. Very worried. Here is my vent (please excuse the length, but I have a lot to say).

Obama’s Bureaucrats Not Allowed To Dictate Who Are The Clergy

As much as anything, the upcoming election is all about Obama’s minions leaping into and stomping on (with jackboots) the everyday activities of all Americans. Obama’s recently illegal appointments to the CFPB and the NLRB are an example of that. It is unfortunate that there is very little Republicans in Congress can do about it, unless they get stupid and try to impeach Obama, an impeachment that will never garner a trial, let alone a conviction in the Senate, and allow Obama to play David against the Republican Goliath and guarantee his re-election (the degenerate Bill Clinton used this to his advantage; however and as an aside, if Obama does win in November and Republicans do retain at least the House, they should begin impeachment proceedings against Obama immediately for at least Operation Fast & Furious). Republicans can and should use Obama’s power grab to graphically display Obama’s lawlessness, but it will be the courts who will shut down any attempts at enforcement by either the CFPB and the NLRB.

This is what happened yesterday. Obama’s EEOC has been attempting to tell the various religions that the administration has the power to determine the qualifications of any faith’s clergy. In a stunning unanimous decision in Hosanna-Tabor v. EEOC (Hosanna-Tabor was a Lutheran school), the Supreme Court put the brakes on that notion. Chief Justice Roberts wrote the opinion that was joined by all of the other Justices, Justice Thomas wrote a separate (and succinct) concurring opinion, and Justice Alito wrote a separate concurring opinion, which was joined (shock! amazement!) by Obama’s own Justice Kagan. It was not only an epic smackdown of Obama’s EEOC shysters, but it also stomped on the 6th Circuit that had wrongly overturned the District Court decision that favored the school (the 6th Circuit panel decision went 3-0, with a Clinton appointee writing that opinion and an Obama appointee writing a concurring opinion).

There is no doubt God-King Barack wants the government to meddle in every little thing we do. It doesn’t matter if the Constitution has said this isn’t allowed; he’s going to do it anyway. The other day, Obama addressed his bureaucrats in a “pep talk”:

“I want to say thank you to each and every one of you, because the EPA touches on the lives of every single American every single day.”

It’s Obama Who Must Put Aside His Politics

Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution [emphasis mine]:

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

Instead of playing politics, President Obama needs to man up and put aside his and his party’s politics. The Constitution says he has the power to do so.

NYT Welcomes Home Troops From Iraq By Smearing Them With the Murtha Treatment

What would the world…what would America…be like without the New York Times? On page A20 of today’s paper, the Times reports on remarks made yesterday by the President and the First Lady at Fort Bragg (the full remarks are here at the White House website). I’ll have a little more on these later.

But on the front page is this story: “Junkyard Gives Up Secret Accounts of Massacre.” Here’s the lede:

One by one, the Marines sat down, swore to tell the truth and began to give secret interviews discussing one of the most horrific episodes of America’s time in Iraq: the 2005 massacre by Marines of Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha.

The rest of the piece…let me put it this way…is something the late unindicted ABSCAM conspirator and corrupt Democrat congresscritter Jack Murtha would approve of as it could have been written by his former congressional staff. The article is a blatant hit job intended to disgrace our troops as they are leaving Iraq, even as the Times reports on the President’s praise of our warriors…19 pages later. Even with all that, the piece notes that of the eight individuals that were charged for committing this “massacre”, six had their charges dropped, one was acquitted, and one (Sgt. Frank Wuterich; his name is not mentioned in the piece) who is still awaiting trial (after six years).

Holder and OF&F: Nothing More Here, Move Along

Here’s what I would like to see today, tomorrow, and every other day after that: every single GOP candidate demanding the resignation of President “King Nothing” Obama’s Attorney General along with every Obama DoJ appointee who was involved with Operation Fast & Furious. In tomorrow night’s debate, the opening statements of each candidate need to hammer this home.

Yesterday, near the end of his day-long testimony, AG Eric Holder was asked if he was going to fire anyone, especially the political appointees, over OF&F. The belligerent Holder said no; he qualified that he was awaiting the report from the Inspector General which would give him the “facts” to help him determine what more he had to do. Excuse me? If you looked at Holder’s countenance throughout much of the day, he basked in the glory of those Democrats who were literally fawning all over him, while at the same time giving the impression of someone who couldn’t understand why Republicans are daring to question how he, AG Holder, has handled this whole OF&F situation, along with demanding more power, power the anti-Constitution Democrats are ready to give the AG. Here’s what I think: there are enough facts out there already showing that Holder’s actions and statements regarding OF&F are those of a political hack, not of the premier law enforcement official he is supposed to be.

So let’s look at some of the facts.

Holder’s Criminality, Obama’s Hypocrisy

The disgraceful AG Eric Holder is getting really testy lately, lashing out at The Daily Caller for instigating members of Congress, Presidential candidates, and a couple of governors (all Republicans) into calling for his resignation over the deadly Operation Fast & Furious fiasco. Of course, the reporting on it from Sharyl Attkisson of CBS had pretty much EVERYTHING to do with these Republicans’ demands for either Holder falling on his proverbial sword and resigning or Obama throwing Holder under the bus and firing him. Via Instapundit, commenter Washington76 on this post by DoJ whistleblower J. Christian Adams at PJ Media has a link to a speech given by Holder in Cuernavaca, Mexico on April 2, 2009. Below the fold are some key parts I’ve excerpted:

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! This is a day to bless God and thank Him for all that He’s given us and all that we have. But most especially, for giving us a place, a country, where we can do these things. We need to hold on to it as best we can, just so we do have a place to worship Him and give Him thanks, and fend off those who would deprive us of this right.

A couple of years ago, my wife and I moved out of the Chicago suburbs into Northwest Arkansas, smack dab in the middle of the Ozark Mountains. Best decision I believe we ever made. So for that, I am first thankful for having the privilege of being married to her. I am thankful for having a loving family, on both my side and her side. I am thankful for all the friends we have and how welcoming they are. And finally, I am thankful for having been born in the United States. I mean, you can move from the city, to the suburbs, to the country, to wherever life leads you. That is a gift.

So to everyone, a very Happy Thanksgiving to you!!!

Gingrich Supports Amnesty? Eh, No.

I was able to watch most of last night’s debate. The two candidates who have had the more controversial positions on immigration are Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry. It’s worth noting that both have probably more involvement with dealing with illegal aliens than any of the other candidates; Gingrich in supporting the 1986 Reagan amnesty and Perry being the 10-year governor of Texas who helped to implement the in-state tuition granted to illegal aliens if they’ve been residents of Texas for at least 3 years.

While I believe Perry is much better on immigration and dealing with illegal aliens than what many conservatives have said about him on the issue, his “heartless” answer a few debates back was a huge mistake. During the debate last night, Gingrich mentioned he would not deport those here illegally after they’d been here for a certain length of time (25 years), but would not grant them automatic citizenship, amnesty; he also said he would be willing to take the heat for his statement.

Right away, Michelle Bachmann jumped all over Gingrich on this, saying he would allow 11 million illegal aliens (CNN moderator Wolf Blitzer mentioned there were 12 million illegal aliens in the U.S.) to remain in this country when in fact he said no such thing. Mitt Romney chimed in saying Gingrich’s plan would be a magnet for an influx of illegal aliens, similar to what happened after the Reagan amnesty. Romney’s statement ignored much of what Gingrich had just said; as President, Gingrich would not have a problem deporting those illegals who didn’t meet a certain select criteria.

There’s something else. Just as with Romney, Bachmann, Cain, and Santorum (and I believe Hu

Does Obama Also Pray to God to Get Republicans to Tax the Rich?

Via NewsBusters:

When conservatives and Republicans display their religious expression, we hear endless diatribes from the Democrat media about how they are religious kooks and/or are trying to establish a Christianist theocracy upon an unsuspecting, gullible population. But when Democrats invoke God or their religion, it’s just their faith and it’s a good thing. Especially when that faith espouses leftist extremism.

There Aren’t Enough Bad Words to Describe Krugman

I read Krugman so you don’t have to. But to be honest, I always feel like I have to take a shower afterwards because reading Krugman is like cleaning the feces left behind by the OWS squatters.

At his blog at the NYT, Democrat shill Paul Krugman graphically displays his anti-Constitution bona fides while discussing some paper (this is the link Krugman provides) that suggests the optimal federal income tax rates for the highest earners should be 70% (this is how Krugman describes the paper; I haven’t read the document, so this post is not a critique of that paper). We all know how dishonest Krugman can be. But as far as I’m concerned, he really takes the cake here.

The shill provides three arguments he thinks the “right side of the room” would use to counter such a tax rate. I’m going to hit these in what I would consider the reverse order of importance.

More Myth Debunking: “Arizona SB1070 to Unleash Torrent of Hate Crimes Against Hispanics”

On April 23, 2010, Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law Arizona’s SB1070, the strictest anti-illegal alien law among the states. The front page of the Arizona Republic carries a story with the headline “Racial hate crimes surge 39% in Phoenix” which states in the second paragraph:

Hate crimes in Phoenix classified by race rose from 36 to 50, an increase that experts who track Valley incidents attribute to heightened tensions following Senate Bill 1070,…

How awful. Oh wait, the sentence isn’t finished [emphasis mine]:

…though hate crimes against Hispanics dipped.

Wait…What?!?!?!?!?

Myth Debunking: “You Can’t Legislate Morality”

I recently finished watching Ken Burns’ “Prohibition” (I had DVR’d it). As with his “The Civil War” documentary, I found it compelling and excellent. I was pleasantly surprised when Burns admitted that it was progressives who brought about the insanity that was the 18th Amendment and the Volstead Act. That is, until the film took to discussing the aftermath of the 1929 Stock Market Crash near the end of the documentary (I don’t want to go into detail or further critique the film, but Burns perpetuated the Democrat meme that Hoover did nothing to resolve the worsening economic situation; in actuality, Hoover did too much of the wrong things, similar to Obama today). Anyway, during the wrap up at the end, many of the people who had been in the documentary mentioned how morality couldn’t be legislated or regulated. Unfortunately, this is still peddled today; fortunately, it is easily debunked. And at the same time, there are many, those in the camp that say morality can’t be legislated, defining new morals and pushing for legislation to support their new morals.

The Good, The Bad, The Grinch, and The (Monty Python) Spanish Inquisition

So much has come out of the D.C. Circuit the last couple of days. The “good” has a blistering, and quite appropriate, attack on the 111th Congress. The “bad” approaches the travesty of 2005′s Supreme Court Kelo decision. And then there is a bonus. It’s long, but I think would be well worth the read.

Cain v. Gingrich; Bonus: Monty Python Sketch Below the Fold

I watched last nights debate between Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Both were lively and anxious to get their points out. But Gingrich showed why he’s the class of the field; he truly displayed a mastery of the issues and was ready with conservative solutions. Getting rid of the CBO? Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Granted, I’m not sure how an idea like that would even be considered by Congress (after all, the CBO is the Congressional Budget Office); but that doesn’t mean Gingrich’s idea isn’t a place to start debate on reforming how the CBO does things.

The debate wasn’t even close. I’ve never doubted Cain’s conservative cred. And, there are times when I’ve questioned Gingrich’s motives (the video with Pelosi comes to mind). My brother has often mentioned to me what he sees Gingrich bringing to the table. In every one of the debates I’ve watched, Gingrich is the smartest at every turn. Plus, he has a proven track record. As far as I’m concerned, and as long as he’s on the ballot, Gingrich is who I want to see as President, warts and all. I like Cain, and have found his 9-9-9 plan intriguing. I’ve liked many of the other candidates as well. But to me, Gingrich is the total package.

Having said all that, what about the debate format?
