WaPo Depicts Cruz’s Daughters As Monkeys, Media Focuses On His Reaction

WaPo Depicts Cruz's Daughters As Monkeys, Media Focuses On His Reaction

    cruz_kids

There is almost nothing that can be said about Republicans or conservatives that is considered over the line. Even when it is, it’s interesting to see how the media covers it. In many instances, the focus by the media is not on the issue or subject, but the reaction of the person, Republicans as a whole, officials in the GOP, etc.

Washington Post political cartoonist Ann Telnaes thought it would be a good idea to draw a cartoon depicting Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) ‘s daughters as organ grinder monkeys. Telnaes defended what she did saying:

” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has put his children in a political ad- don’t start screaming when editorial cartoonists draw them as well.”

This is a silly excuse. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) didn’t have his daughters bashing Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. It was a cute ad designed to show Cruz in a different light. In addition, she’s a complete ignoramus if she truly believes this was the first time a political candidate has used their kids in a political ad.

The interesting part of all of this is how the media saw it. As I noted earlier, the media, who as a whole favor Democrats over Republicans never focus on the act when something like this happens – when it happens to a Republican. Here are some headlines:

RawStory:  Washington Post deletes cartoon of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) ‘s kids as organ grinder’s monkeys after candidate complains

Mediaite:WaPo Caves Into Pressure, Deletes Cartoon Depicting Cruz’s Children Amid Backlash

NBC: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Blasts Washington Post Cartoon of Daughters as Monkeys

The Week: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slams The Washington Post for offensive depiction of his young daughters

The Hill: Washington Post retracts cartoon that calls Cruz’s daughters ‘political props’

USA Today: Paper Pulls Cartoon Showing Cruz’s Children

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slams! Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasts! WaPo caves amid backlash! Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) complains!

    It’s something, isn’t it?

People may forget the name Elizabeth Lauten, but not what happened to her. She was the communications director for Rep. Steve Fincher of Tennessee. One day on her private (or so she thought) Facebook page, she made some comments about President Obama’s daughters. The comments were relatively tame but the media reacted with a fury as though Lauten posted an ad in the middle of Times Square calling them out. Here are some of the headlines from that episode:

ABC News:Congressional Staffer Resigns After Disparaging Comments About Obama Girls

CNN:GOP staffer critical of Obama girls resigns

HuffPo: GOP Staffer Elizabeth Lauten Resigns Following Comments About Sasha, Malia Obama

MSNBC:GOP staffer to resign after slamming Obama girls

WaPo:Hill staffer Elizabeth Lauten resigns after remarks about Obama daughters

Notice the major difference? Every headline about Lauten and what she did. No headlines that say,

“Democrats blast Congressional staffer for comments about Obama’s girls.”

That was just the tip of the iceberg. That story was the lead on NBC Nightly news with truth-telling extraordinaire, Brian Williams. The media camped out at Lauten’s parents home, dug into her background and chased down childhood friends for information about her. To this day she still has to deal with the consequences of making some innocuous comments she thought would not be passed on to the media by a Facebook “friend.”

Meanwhile, Ann Telnaes will continue draw her political cartoons and in private (and in somewhat in the public), be held up by her peers as some kind of martyr for freedom of speech and the press.

It is example 23,843,840,843,757 of why conservatives have such a distaste for the press.

    Up In Smoke

    20131212_UpInSmoke

It’s only your tax dollars going up in smoke. Everyone knows we can trust government to handle our money, right? Especially when they promise to cut spending later. The can isn’t “down the road” anymore, it’s over the cliff.

Party Of No, The Birth Of A Meme

Party of no, the birth of a meme

“Party of No.” It’s all you hear anymore coming from the “unbiased” media echo chambers. Have you ever wondered how their logic works? Wonder no more.

If you don’t give in to what Obama and the (D)’s want, then you are the “Party of No.” It doesn’t matter how many times they tell you no.

Give in, or you are the “Party of NO!” and probably a racist too.

    Why Not Syria?

The administration has done such a bang up job with Libya and Egypt, why not go into Syria as well. What could go wrong? Oh, and remember that nasty word ‘unilateralism’? Seems like it’s an ok concept now, since there is a Democrat at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Pelosi, Biden To Visit New Pope

Pelosi Biden To Vist New Pope

Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and a contingent of others will be attending Pope Francis’s Inaugural mass on Tuesday, March 19th. Some pundits can’t understand why some Catholics have a problem with that.

This quote from Pope Benedict XVI should help clear it up:

“the fundamental human right, the presupposition of every other human right, is the right to life itself. This is true of life from the moment of conception to its natural end. Abortion, consequently, cannot be a human right – it is the very opposite.”

    NY City’s Big Gulp

    NYC Big Gulp

New York Supreme Court Judge Milton Tingling finally brought some common sense to this episode of “Let’s Make A Ban!”

Though Mayor Bloomberg vows to appeal the ruling, hopefully he is getting a nervous feeling that this ruling might wake the drones of NYC (not the ones in the air, the ones on the streets) and they will finally realize that it is not the government’s job to keep them healthy.

After reading the comments in some of their local papers however, it is doubtful.

    The Moral High Ground

    Moral High Ground

Tyrannical Governments: The British Empire, Nazis, Communists, Fascist Italy. Our founders knew that America’s citizens would need to protect themselves from out of control government.

Self Defense: Home Invasions, Robberies, Assaults, Rape, etc.
There are 830,000 to 2.45 million defensive gun uses per year in the U.S. (click here for reference material).

Abortion: estimates of 1.2 million abortions per year in the U.S.

The same people that support “Total Reproductive Freedom” actually think they are on the moral high ground in the gun grab debate.
