Obama Fetishism – The Hollow Evil of Tactical Adoration
I’ll bet the people who voted for Obama never realized how utterly cool they had become. They too get to have something in common with Tom Cruise! Like Tom Cruise they’ve been brainwashed, duped out of their money and will ultimately be betrayed by a nut-job cult. No, voting for Barack Obama doesn’t quite automatically enroll you in the Church of Scientology, but when Time Magazine describes the 2nd Term of any US President as The Second Coming, I tend to think we’ve crossed a dangerous border between admiration and idolatry. Here’s how Newsweek Magazine serves up a dose of blasphemy in honor of our Dominus et Deus, Barack I.

A Nostalgic Age
Whether you read the Republican agenda, or Byron York’s latest about the GOP’s cluelessness on the way forward, or even Robert Costa and Andrew Stiles’ reporting from the Republican retreat, there is a sense that the Republican way forward is unclear. They are unsure. They do not know where to go. They do not know on which ground they should fight. As I’ve written before, I | Read More »
Will Red State Democrats Abjure Their Principles With the Filibuster?
It’s time for the red state Democrats in the Senate to answer the question Elijah posed to the idol-worshipers: “How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD [be] God, follow him; but if Baal, [then] follow him.” Senators like Mark Pryor (AR), Mary Landrieu (LA), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Max Baucus (MT), Joe Manchin (WV), and Tim Johnson (SD) need to decide whether they | Read More »
Spending at Gun Point
In the days leading up to President Obama announcing his gun control plans, and now that he has, the focus of Republicans and Conservatives has been squarely on his ever-encroaching attack on the Second Amendment. As Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus stated on the President’s move, “He paid lip service to our fundamental constitutional rights, but took actions that disregard the Second Amendment and | Read More »
The Allure of Moving On
Bend over Republicans, here they come again.Phil Klein is out with a column that I can only assume comes from House Republican Leadership talking points. I can only assume that because House Republican leaders and those close to them have been whispering about this scenario for about a month now to as many Republican strategists, pundits, and others as would listen. They want to move | Read More »
Liberals Don’t Need Revenue to Grow Government Anymore
Once upon a time, liberals were somewhat principled in their pursuit of a utopian dirigisme. Sure, they always liked to play a bit of class warfare, but they fundamentally believed in taxing everyone. After all, if you want a cradle-to-grave government-run society, it’s got to be purveyed by the broad populace. There simply aren’t enough rich people to raise the requisite funds for a rapacious | Read More »
ATTN Gun Owners: McConnell & Reid Cutting Deal on the Filibuster
The Senate Republican Leader and Senate Democratic Leader are cutting a deal on the filibuster. You may think it is over and done with, but it is not.Harry Reid, through Senate procedure, has kept the first day of business in the Senate going on. This allows the rules of the Senate to be changed with just a majority vote if he decides to claim the Senate’s | Read More »
Sierra Club Targets Colorado Springs, Scrubber Technology In War On Coal
In negotiations between Colorado Springs and the Sierra Club, clean coal technology has been offered up as a casualty following the Sierra Club’s September 2012 threat of a lawsuit. The Martin Drake power plant is part of the community owned Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU), and has the net capacity to provide 254 megawatts of power generation. In addition to providing power for more than 50,000 | Read More »
The Purpose of the Second Amendment
The President is ready to announce his plans to restrict gun ownership. Most likely, nothing the President proposes will do anything to stop a future Sandy Hook. We know the President understands he is putting Democrats in a terrible spot. We know because he did nothing after the Aurora, CO shooting in the midst of a political campaign. He had to wait so he wouldn’t | Read More »
Group Calls For Corruption-Tainted Attorney To Resign From Obama’s Union-Dominated NLRB
With two vacancies at the five-member agency right now, due to a Supreme Court decision, a resignation by any member of the NLRB would automatically cripple the credibility-deficient NLRB.

Court Rebukes WI Unions In Fight over Walker’s Reforms
The legal battle over Governor Scott Walker’s collective bargaining reforms isn’t over yet, and in a challenge that has now reached the Wisconsin Court of Appeals a local teachers union is arguing that the law is unconstitutional when applied at the local level. But the unions and their legal team may have suffered a quiet but important setback in late December when, with no fanfare, the Appeals Court requested both sides to file further briefs on the case. In the request, the court specifically noted that cases cited by the unions to prove their point in fact, did not back up the unions’ position.

Union Billboard: “Workplace Freedom Act Poisons Workers”

The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 18, a Cleveland-based labor union, has purchased at least one billboard on State Route 315 in Columbus reading “Workplace Freedom Act poisons workers.”
With its text flanked on both sides by skull-and-crossbones “POISON” symbols, the billboard stands as testament to one of the reasons Governor John Kasich and the Ohio General Assembly have expressed no interest in pursuing a workplace freedom law.
Aaron Schock Voted for Massive Tax Increases and Doesn’t Want You to Know
Aaron Schock voted for the debt ceiling increase the last time. He also voted for the McConnell tax hike. Aaron Schock, all along, has been fine with raising taxes as long as he could look like he wasn’t. A group in Illinois decided to call him out on it. What did Aaron Schock do? He ran to his lawyer crying and the lawyer wrote a | Read More »
Never Let a Good Crisis Go to Waste
Here’s a not-so-bold prediction: Congress will vote to spend more money today than it will cut over 10 years from any grand deal. Later today, the House will consider the additional $50 billion in Sandy aid in two parts (they already passed another $9.7 billion two weeks ago). The House will first try to pass a bill (H.R. 152) to provide about $17 billion to | Read More »
BRAC the Budget
I am in favor of not raising the debt ceiling unless the President and Democrats come up with meaningful spending cuts and reforms. Contrary to a lot of the Democrats’ spin, the federal government will not default if the debt ceiling is not raised. Only if Little Timmy Geithner decides to not pay certain debts will the government default. It is his choice. But I | Read More »
