Last night, I did a mashup of the Selma and Brokeback Mountain trailers. Had Oprah made that movie, not only would Brokeback Selma sweep this year’s Academy Awards, but the Academy would force all prior winners to hand over their awards. I think I win the argument.
Remember convicted sex fiend Del. Joe Morrissey (D, VA)? Guess what they didn’t tell you!
I was going along, minding my own business: just trying to get my coffee in on an up-too-early Saturday morning. Then I hit this sentence about the problems the Democratic caucus in the Virginia legislature is having with one of its members having been convicted of sleeping with his 17 year old receptionist (bolding mine): “There was a racial undercurrent to some of the arguments made | Read More »
Tech at Night: The Net Neutrality bill gives them all they’ve asked for
So it’s really all about Net Neutrality right now. In case you missed it, I gave a summary of the events earlier this week. I can add to that this further update: all information I have with respect to the bill says it’s a good one. I said before this isn’t about winning. This is about not losing. But the Thune/Upton bill is probably going | Read More »
Another Example of Why Global Warming Zealots Are a Bag of Crap
DOOM! people. Doom. It is the hottest it has ever been!!!!! Unless you use satellite based temperature measurements, which the global warming crowd loved until those measurements stopped scaring people. So it is back to DOOM. 2014 was the hottest year ever. In fact, it was so hot the Times won’t even tell you what it was. Nope. In the whole article it never tells | Read More »
Topic for discussion: was Prohibition the Progressive movement’s *greatest* disaster?
Having been reminded that today (January 16th) is the anniversary of one of the greatest social policy disasters (if not the absolute worst) in American history: This day in 1918, America did a very terrible thing: we voluntarily outlawed booze. http://t.co/nE1lJAQQnj — Kemberlee Kaye (@KemberleeKaye) January 16, 2015 …I am left to wonder: was it also the greatest policy disaster of the Progressive movement? Because, | Read More »
Renee Ellmers is Basically a Liar
Congresswoman is a lying waste of oxygen. First, she campaigned aggressively in 2014 against amnesty, executive overreach, etc. Then she promptly got back to Washington and reversed herself on everything she had campaigned on. Now, her knickers are in knots over pro-life legislation. Just as the GOP has decided to stand firm on a piece of legislation supported by +60% of the nation, she’s scared | Read More »
Governor Throne of Skulls (Scott Walker) Telegraphs 2016 Bid
With the three establishment-favored Governors (Jeb, Christie, Romney) having already all but declared, the time has come for other contenders to telegraph their intentions or face being left behind in the fundraising/operations cycle. One of my two favorite candidates for 2016 has always been Scott Walker, but the looming question has always been whether Walker would run at all given that a campaign would interfere | Read More »
John Kerry Turns Soft Power Loose on France
After snubbing the French memorial service for the victims of radical Islamic terrorists, the administration has unleashed Secretary of State John Kerry in a one-man blizzard of diplomacy to try to unscrew the situation. What could go wrong, you ask? How could anyone possibly screw up making amends to our oldest ally? To the first nation the infant Republic signed a military defense pact with? Keep | Read More »
They’d Rather All the Babies Die
16 Then two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. 17 The one woman said, “Oh, my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I gave birth to a child while she was in the house. 18 Then on the third day after I gave birth, this woman also gave birth. And we were alone. There was no one else with us | Read More »
Pope Francis On Free Speech: Terrorism Works Like Hell
So can I really say anything that I want? Anything? Let’s see…According to the SCOTUS, doing a satirical advertisement depicting a religious figure getting drunk before he preaches and losing his virginity to Good Old Mom in the outhouse is coarse but acceptable parody. So absent any personal standard to leaven my own content; I’m pretty much able to offend whomever I want. According to | Read More »
Much has been written about conservatives in the United States over the past decade. Most of the studies and commentaries come with a healthy dose of bias against conservatism. Those that do the best still have a “Gorillas in the Mist” quality. Some things are vastly easier to understand than those studying them believe. So much of what has happened within the Republican Party since | Read More »
To Reconcile Obamacare
The other day, the Politico reported that a handful of Senate Republicans are now considering reconciliation as a vehicle for tax reform. Reconciliation, you may recall, is the process by which the Congress fast tracks changes to the budget. In 2010, Obama and the Democrats used reconciliation to pass Obamacare. Reconciliation is a potent weapon in the Senate arsenal because it only requires 51 votes | Read More »

Why it’s stupid to protest in the highway.
Because eventually the people who do become the miserable [expletive deleted] who do this to people: A beloved 83-year-old West Bridgewater grandfather has been left with spinal fractures and broken ribs after his ambulance had to be diverted around this morning’s protest on I-93, his daughter said, describing herself as “livid.” “I understand your plight, but it’s moronic to put other people’s lives and public safety | Read More »
