Sarah Steelman and Kenny Hulshof met for their final debate before next month’s primary. The debate was hosted by KY3, a Springfield, MO NBC affiliate. As with the KMOX debate I took down some notes on their responses to the questions. I have also included my thoughts (including an endorsement) at the end. I have included links to the video of each question. Just follow the link on the question number to launch the video.
GOP Gubernatorial candidates Sarah Steelman and Kenny Hulshof debated today on KMOX’s Mark Reardon Show. You can find audio of the debate on the show’s website. I’ll include a few of my own comments at the end along with a few other items of interest.
The New York Post (via The Page - by Mark Halperin]) is announcing that former GOP candidate Rudy Giuliani is set to announce that he is launching a “new” PAC: Solutions America. As they report: “It’s the first major political move by the former mayor since his run for president flamed out in January.” The purpose of the committee is to support New York State Republicans in their elections.
Speculation around this launch is that the former candidate for the GOP nomination is using this committee to stay relevant in New York politics. It fuels the notion that the former Mayor of New York City is looking to run for Governor of New York in 2010.
So why all of the parentheticals above?
Two organizations have announced endorsements in Missouri ahead of the upcoming primary on August 85th. Both Missouri Right to Life and Club for Growth PAC issued statements today.
Today was campaign finance filing day in MO and all three candidates released their numbers. There is a lot of bad news in here for the Republicans.

Since the surprise announcement by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt that he would not seek re-election, the race for the GOP nomination has been anything but ordinary. The two candidates are U.S. Representative Kenny Hulshof (MO-09) and Missouri State Treasurer Sarah Steelman. A local blog, the Relevant Elephant, has conducted interviews with both candidates. Rep Hulshof’s can be found here while Steelman’s can be found here.
One the issues there isn’t a whole lot that separates Hulshof and Steelman. (Unless otherwise noted, information in the issues section is from the candidate’s website. I’m not exactly impressed by either sites lack of content for the most part. Based on website alone I would have to give this one to Steelman. Hers is much sharper and has far more content dealing with the issues.)
