The Postmortem on Robin Carnahan is Already Being Written

The writing is on the wall for Missouri Democrats. Their chances of winning the Senate seat currently held by Republican Kit Bond certainly qualify for the “slim to none” category. This was recognized by national Democrats with the recent decision to cancel much of their reserved air space for advertising.

A few weeks ago, Bill S had a great piece about Carnahan running an outdated “2006″ campaign.

Now, this week, Columbia Missourian editorialist George Kennedy heaps some damning praise on the Carnahan campaign:

With less than two weeks left before the election, my nomination for Worst Campaign by a Missouri Democrat goes to Robin Carnahan. Blessed with an honored political heritage and a vulnerable opponent, Ms. Carnahan has so far taken the low road and stuck to it. Her attacks on Congressman Roy Blunt have been mainly well founded, but I defy you to tell me much that she’s for, as opposed to who she’s against.

It seems the low road suits the Carnahan family all too well. See Erick’s piece from earlier today on how big brother Russ is trying to run on similar campaign.

If you are a Democrat right now, I’m guessing these are the last desperate tactics that you would use when your party is facing a massive beating at the polls this November.

P.S. Roy Blunt for Senate. This one isn’t over until the judges in St. Louis and Kansas City say it’s over.

Despite claims of “we [insert family name here] are devoted to public service,” I would support a Constitutional Amendment that said “No person within two degrees of consanguinity of an elected Representative, Senator, or Executive shall be permitted to hold Federal Office, nor shall any person within three degrees of consanguinity to an elected Federal official be permitted a position in the Federal employ.”

I am sorry that this runs contrary to the two Adams’ and the two Bush’, but such an amendment would have prevented Al Gore Jr. and Maxine Walter’s Grandson from getting on the Public Dole.

Sadly, such an Amendment would also ban Nancy Pelosi (daughter of a Congressman) from her office.

Does America love royalty so much?

Jean Carnahan was selected (not elected) to fill her husband’s Senate seat. It is sad that Republicans can’t even defeat dead Democrats.

Her son Russ was elected to Congress and is currently running for re-election to the House. Her daughter Robin is currently running for the Senate.

I’m sure they have a wonderful family, I’m not sure how to make the equivalence, but does Missouri really want to elect a baron and a baroness?

Given the horrible performance of the trillions of dollars and thousands of pages of unread legislations the Democrats put forward over the last two years, it is pretty clear that their positions cannot be defended by facts and logic. Fortunately this leaves them with the opportunity to resort to campaigns of vilification backed up by a compliant media and unlimited money from the beneficiaries of those squandered trillions – government unions, the UAW and bankers. Unfortunately for them but fortunately for America their failure is so gross that the normal vilification is failing. I think the reason why is that the sheer relentlessness of their use of vilification against Bush, Cheney and Palin as well as their instant resort to vilification against the Republican du jour (Boehner comes to mind) has sort of discredited the tactic. Good thing that!

I’m not the biggest fan of the guy, but there’s no way in a swing/right-leaning state like Missouri should have a Dem governor and two Dem senators. Voting for Blunt means retaining balance. And his lead is really going to help people like Vicky Hartzler in MO-04, where registration is so lopsided that all she needs is GOP votes to top 50%. He’ll also help Ed Martin in MO-03, who really could win with a prayer and a top-of-the-ticket lift.

    …to the race in MA-10.
I’d bet not one voter could tell you what Democrat candidate Bill Keating is FOR or what he wants to DO is )God forbid) he gets to Congress. He’s all about attacking Jeff Perry on a 19-year old incident he had nothing to do with.
I suspect this pattern of Democrat low-roadness is being repeated in hundreds of districts around the country. They’ve got nothing else.

and booting her out of public office in Missouri for good.

Losing this election does not remove her from public office – Missouri State Sec. Her term expires in 2012 and one would assume she’d try and run for re-election.

She won her first election in 2004 with 51% (nearly 1.4 mill) and the Republican contender had 46.4%. In 2008 she was re-elected with nearly 62% (1.75 mill) – but I believe that was a fluke due to the Obama – antiBush wave.

Here’s where it gets really interesting for all of you who aren’t familiar with these two political dynasties going toe to toe this go-round…

Matt Blunt, Roy Blunt’s son was Missouri Sec. of State from 2001-2005. He then ran for and became governor, serving one term. Roy too has been Sec. of State from 1985-1993. Matt won his Sec. race with 51%

Other than Roy and Matt’s tenures, the previous time there was a Republican Sec. of State in Missouri was in 1944/45. In other words, primarily Democrats have held the seat. That said, with a serious loss handed to her and if Obama’s administration continues to flounder and the nation continues to spiral downwards, Robin could lose her seat along with so many other Democrats in a continued role reversal of 06/08 that brought the Democrats back into power.

I believe removing Robin from office for good in 2012 is completely doable.
