Though I don't think his anti-Semitism came forth after the election fully formed, like Aphrodite; the seed was there earlier.

Obama's reaction to developments in Honduras make me wonder....
Suppose Obama wins re-election in 2012. And suppose he wants to run again in 2016. Sure, the Constitution does not permit this. But who would stop him?

I don't think the 'birth certificate' controversy had merit, but it ended because of the ruling that nobody had standing in the case. If Obama attempts a third term, who has 'standing' to stop him?

It may be the responsibility of the Secretary of State to certify the election, but if it is an Obama appointee, we should not expect impartial adherance to the law. The Justice Department is forfeiting an already-won case against the Black Panthers - it is clear that the priority is not with the law.

So, who would stop a third Obama term?

Unfortunately, Obama is completely left.

Zelaya attempted to do in Honduras the very thing that Leftists accused Bush of preparing to do for his entire 8 years. They were ridiculous, of course, but they believed that because it was precisely the kind of thing that one of theirs would do. Now one of theirs has tried to do it, and they are so committed to the left that many of them can't see it.

I never understood what happened in Venezuela during the Bush years--Chavez was out, then he was back in. Or was that Ortega in Nicaragua? I've lost track. In any event, President Bush seemed to let an opportunity to depose a dictator slip away from him. Now President Obama seems eager to do the same, for undoubtedly a very different reason.

If Zelaya returns to office, it will be an indicator of just how weak the true democratic movement has become.

hatred for America was in evidence when he was POTUS. I think that's something that grew and festered in him during the Reagan years when he saw what a success Reagan was and how much people admired him. (Discounting the usual suspects, of course.) The hostages were released on Reagan's first day in office, underlining brilliantly and forever just how ineffective Carter was and how much the mullahs held him in contempt. Reagan went on to economic success and foreign policy success in quantities that Carter couldn't even imagine, much less emulate.

Then there were the Clinton years, when a man from Arkansas with the morals of a hypersexed tomcat and the charm of a snake-oil pitchman was the much ballyhooed POTUS of a lifetime. Between the two of them, Carter became even smaller and more of a failure than he was while in office. What's not to hate here for him? His hatred is the only way, apparently, that he has left to him to vindicate him from his own failures.

Carter hates this country with a white hot hate. I dare you to read his latest book on public policy if you don't believe me.

By contrast, I believe Obama's hatred is a bit more detached and ambivalent, like all of his passions.

But I do think that the thing that animates him---rage and hatred for this country and all it has stood for--- make him much more dangerous. Carter didn't know that his policies would damage America as much as they did, but Obama is fully aware of the damage and just champing at the bit to do lots more. Should he have a moment of "weakness" and falter in his destruction of our country, I have no doubt that the First Grizzly and assorted radical henchmen will keep him on task.

I will not tar a president, especially after only six months, with being "worse than Carter". It will take quite a bit to be Worse than Carter.

Hitler was Worse than Carter, Stalin was worse than Carter, Pol Pot was worse than Carter.

he is actually worse than Carter. He might be smarter than Carter and less stubborn, so that he might have the ability to change and react when he sees the carnage caused by his policies.

Carter was far too much the narcissist for that.

Mr. President, it will be no credit to you - or to this country and its reputation-and-standing in the world - to essentially try to re-run the 1980s, but with the discredited, failed lunacy of siding with our enemies and abandoning our friends now actually being implemented.

This is essentially "What would the world look like without Reagan" it seems to me.
Obama will even be worse than Carter could've been, and he proves that on a daily basis.

I think the flip side of Obama's apologies abroad----which are always vague and unspecific----is his failure to speak of the many great things this country has done. The Berlin Airlift, defeating Communism/Nazism/Totalitarianism; needless to say, it's a pretty lengthy list.

Aside from that being shameful and unpatriotic, it's just plain stupid from a pragmatic point of view. In his insatiable desire to be liked by Muslims (e.g., the Cairo speech), why wouldn't he speak of American success in stopping ethnic cleansing in Kosovo and Bosnia? Of driving Iraq out of Kuwait? Of coming to the aid of Indonesia after the Tsunami? Instead, he apologizes for our country, reflecting the contempt that he and his grim wife hold for America.

He'll learn soon enough: neither friend nor foe repects grovelling.

Obama's really good at apologizing for things he thinks someone else did wrong, but I don't think you'll ever see him say "I made a mistake.".

I will be at a Tea Party on Boston Common on July 4th. I'll be carrying a sign that says, "The torch has been passed to a new generation--" John Kennedy- 1961. Barack Obama-2009.
I googled JFK's speach to be sure it was the inaugural address that I am quoting from and of course ended up reading the whole thing. I am one of the few people in Mass. who did not vote for JFK,(or his little brother),but he had some great speech writers. Take a few minutes and see what he had to say in 1961.

" We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world".

President Obama should read this speech every morning with his breakfast and understand the fact that the "Torch" has been passed to him. Of course he has passed it on to AIG and General Motors but that is another story.
Go ahead and read the speech the words are as true right now as they were in 1961.
I find it unbelievable that he could stand on European soil that is soaked in the blood of heroes from two wars and apologize to anyone. EVER.
