Random Thought For Today
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | July 1st at 07:37 PM |
After a little thought about today’s nobody-showed-up-to-see-Joe-Biden-in-Erie-PA fiasco…. “Rural broadband build-out” has become a new Golden Calf of Liberalism…. (Note that it says “a” not “the” – it’s just one of them, but a relatively new one….) Default here to Open Thread….
A Convenient Truth
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | June 21st at 11:00 AM |
Here’s a picture that’s worth many thousands of words: That’s what I call “A Convenient Truth”…. (H/T – Tim Blair and his international band of minions….)

No, I’m not joking. If you don’t believe me, just click here. (H/T – “Planet Gore” at NRO) I wonder what they replaced the carbon with – silicon? Help….
We Have A Winner! Absolutely, Positively WORST Tea Party Day Coverage in the Galaxy
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | April 15th at 09:05 PM |
Okay, we weren’t expecting much of the local news media up here behind the Maple Curtain. Among the three local television outlets, the largest of them has nothing at all. The combined Fox/ABC (separate stations, but merged news team) has a small and anodyne story. But the national prize for obtuse media bias has to go to….

British “Global Warming” Expedition Rescued From Intense Cold Just In The Nick Of Time
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | March 22nd at 09:56 AM |
A few days ago, your humble correspondent noted the story of a trio of British “explorers” who were on a “global warming” icepack survey in the Arctic – and who had become marooned by (surprise) frigid Arctic weather conditions. The story was too hard to pass up, since it had been given the deadpan-irony headline of: Global Warming Team Stranded by Cold Weather In some | Read More »
A Clarification on “Unrepatriated Earnings” and Uncompetitive U.S. Tax Policy
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | March 5th at 11:22 PM |
A couple of days ago, I pounded out a late-evening diatribe, complaining about the oddities in how U.S. tax law handles the repatriation (or lack thereof) of profits earned outside the country by U.S.-based corporations – and how these odd policies are hobbling U.S-based corporations…. and how the effort to make this mess even worse would increase the problems even further. There were no problems | Read More »
How Much Do The Obamanauts Hate Corporations? Apparently, They Want To Drive Them From The Country
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | March 3rd at 11:28 PM |
Some years back, there was a winter mountaineering disaster in New Hampshire. The post mortem (literally) summary of why this happened was nicely encapsulated in the phrase, “A plan of breathtaking stupidity.” I was reminded of that today as details continue to emerge of what seems to almost be an overt Obama-Geithner plan to drive as many corporations as possible from the U.S. and to | Read More »
How “Leftist” Is The Obama Budget?
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | March 3rd at 06:42 PM |
Earlier today, several of us participated in conference call with Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California. Congressman McCarthy was just coming out of a meeting with fellow Republican (of Wisconsin) Paul Ryan, and he pointed out something remarkable about the “Obama” budget that is now slithering its way up for consideration by the beginning of April. More below the fold….
Climate “Researchers” Discover That Antarctica Is Cold
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | January 23rd at 10:44 AM |
Behind the “Contributors” curtain at RedState, we often toss things we’ve found over to others who may be more qualified to use them. For example, your humble correspondent found that Pravda story about Hillary(TM) meaning four years of war – and tossed it over to Moe since he is the master of snark. Yesterday, Josh (Painter) found a new piece on “global warming” and tossed | Read More »
Killer Wind Turbines
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | December 3rd at 12:04 PM |
Well, how about this. When wind turbines sit in sub-freezing temperatures, the turbine blades (not surprisingly) tend to accumulate ice and snow. And then when the wind kicks up and they begin to spin, they start to throw off potentially-lethal chunks of ice in all directions. That “green future” is looking increasingly unfriendly to humans….

Weird Season Continues – Hillary for SecState?
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | November 17th at 09:55 PM |
I drew the short straw over at the virtual bar, and so it falls to me to report to the readership that the rumor mill (via Hot Air and the UK Guardian) says that Senator Hillary Clinton has been offered the post of SecState. Or not. The update says that she’s being considered but the financial vetting goes on. Who knows. Well, since I got | Read More »

Today’s “AGW” Story
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | September 7th at 08:57 AM |
Kayak: $1200. Supplies: $12,000 Making a laughing-stock of yourself: Priceless: I saw on television news on Friday a chap canoeing across part of the Arctic ocean to raise world consciousness about “disappearing” ice sheets. The last time I looked he was trapped in some ice. (Emphasis mine. H/T – Tim Blair.) Trying to impose an ideology onto reality only serves to make you a candidate | Read More »
Some Sanity on the Exxon-Mobil 2Q08 Financial Report
By: Skanderbeg (Diary) | August 1st at 09:41 AM |
Exxon-Mobil released their 2Q08 financials yesterday – and as surely as the night follows the day, the usual suspects have begun baying at the moon about it all. Business sense is scarce in Washington, so one wonders whether this baying is due to genuine ignorance – or is merely posturing. But given the big-dollar numbers that are the stock-in-trade of Washington, one would expect better | Read More »
