Prop 8 – says minorities are conservative. The GOP isnt over yet.

I noticed this from the prop 8 vote in california:

“According to exit polls, whites opposed the amendment 53-47. But blacks supported it 70-30, and Latinos supported it 51-49. The polls have blacks at 10 percent of the electorate for this issue, with Latinos at 19 percent and whites at 63 percent. (Asians, at six percent, opposed the proposition 53-47.)”

Now, i read that as a confirmation of blacks and hispanics as socially conservative, moreso than whites.

It is my opinion that if the GOP can get back to making the talk of smaller government, spending, taxes and increasing energy within the US into action; they can turn back the tide.

I imagine that poll is understating the Hispanic support for the measure also. It is well known that Hispanics, as well as many black voters, are generally Pro Family Conservatives. This is why Bush did so much better than the average Republican with these groups in 2004, he ran a strongly Pro Family campaign, opposing gay marriage and abortion. Too bad our nominee this year didn’t really run on those issues this year to anywhere near the degree that Bush did, could’ve easily been a different outcome. Going forward, we must continue to reach out to minorities based on our Pro Family agenda, its a proven winner.

Hispanics, maybe, but winning over the black vote ever? Not likely before, even less likely now. Blacks are going to remember how Obama the Democrat was the first elected African-American in US History. Try peeling them off now. I don’t have any scientific data to back this up but my understanding is that minorities tend to be poorer, or should I say less affluent, than whites and are more receptive to calls to “spread the wealth around.” If the GOP embraces socialism for votes, I mean more than they already have, then I’m out.
