It will take a little calculation, but a one or two allowance increase probably should take care of it. If you want to be more precise so that you don't underwithold too much, the state employment commission website has the state employer withholding tables.

Granted, this is a game to increase revenue for 2009-10, but it's better than most gimmicks they've employed in the past because we can fight back easily to undo it.

Actually, the 2009 increases will have little effect because they mostly will get paid back before the end of June 2010. It's the the 2010 increases that are the gimmick to artificially artifically increase 2009-10 fiscal year revenues by robbing revenue from the next fiscal year. Even bigger are the estimated tax changes to artificially shift money into 2009-10 fiscal year from the following year.

And as far as "taxation without representation" - that's a ludicrous charge: our elected representatives are voting this in, so it's a problem of our representatives making an unwise choice, not an absence of representation.</description>
