What The Heck Is Going On?

I’m hearing some disturbing things about some of the people who we of the patriot movement were instrumental in getting elected to office. The whole RINO issue chaps the hell out of my hide to start with.

I’m not sure whether it’s because we’re stupid or because we don’t know how to vet our candidates. Or perhaps it’s because these undercover creatures are just so darn good at hiding who they really are that we get hoodwinked every time. I’m not buying any part of that argument.

The RINO (for the uninitiated, RINO stands for Republican in name only) has caused incalculable damage to the country because of their collective perfidy. It would have not been possible for the DeMarxist regime to pass as much of their onerous nation-destroying legislation as they have without the collusion of the so-called moderates.

Some of the names are the same ones we’ve seen time and again… selling out their party and their nation for personal gain. We’re familiar with the machinations of Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. I won’t belabor you with the names of the RINOs out there right now, we’ll be focusing on them in detail as the electoral cycle rolls on.

Chris Christie was elected on a wave of patriot enthusiasm and endorsement. He said and did all the right things to get our support. We sort of expected it from Scott Brown… after all, a conservative Republican from Massachusetts would be a liberal just about anywhere else.

I hope the things I’m hearing about Christie aren’t true… or if they are, I’m glad we found out now. The new Conservative Republican party cannot abide people who consciously erode the principles of conservative governance.

to politics to any degree knew that Christie was a fiscal conservative, but that’s where it stopped. Christie was never considered to be a social or national security conservative. The only surprise, at the now being reported support of Islamists, is the depth to which he supports them. I’ve been really disturbed that Christie nominated an Islamist judge to the NJ SC, even before the terrorists from the Fort Dix plot have had their day in court. He was neutral on the GZM, gee why is that no surprise. During the GZM debates, I read that NJ is the home of more mosques than there are in NY. When Kadafi came to the US, didn’t he pitch his tent in NJ because no one in NY wanted him there?

As I’ve posted before, Christie is a greenie. He put the largest Environmental group in NJ in charge of making energy decisions for NJ, hence, the windmill project he approved, and agreed to subsidize. He also immediately required that any landfills or waste centers be switched to solar power. He has tried to sway companies that manufacture windmills to relocate to NJ, just as many are closing down because of not being profitable. He stopped the construction of a coal fired power plant in Edison I believe.

I understand that NJ is in fiscal dire straights, and has been for a long time. Even being a Republican, Christie is not shy about trying to get every last federal dollar he can, if if it means abiding by the federal government strings attached to those dollars.

The Tea Parties went all out in support of Christie, just as they did with Scott Brown, which were both preferrable to their Democrat opponents, no doubt. Even if all of Christies negatives like the ones now being widely exposed were obvious at the time, what would people have done, voted for the Democrat? I whole heartedly agree that the positions now being exposed should give one pause before wanting to promote him to higher office, including the presidency. It was pretty obvious that those that were begging him to run for the presidency didn’t know much about who they were promoting. Thank God he took himself out of the running. Even Glenn Beck has backed off his begging him to run.

As to the Tea Parties vetting their candidates better, the problem is that now everyone claims to be Tea Party candidates. Many of the national Tea Party groups are only vetting candidates as to their fiscal policies. You see how that has proven to be more than misleading? Being an Islamist supporter is not fiscal, unless you think about the money he may have gotten from them for his election. Being green is not being a fiscal conservative, it is just the opposite.

Yes, the Tea Party people must start looking a little deeper into the candidate, not just to jump on their bandwagon because they are tight with a dollar. Elections have consequences, in many ways, not just fiscal ones.

Christie is indeed a Rock Star on Fiscal Conservative issues, but does not have the whole package. As Reagan asserted, Conservatism is a 3-legged stool (Fiscal conservativism, Social conservativism, Defense conservatism), and does not stand without all of the legs intact.
As with Scott Brown, Christie may be the best we could do in New Jersey, and he is actually much better than conservatives could have “expected” compared to Governors in many states more right-leaning than NJ. But for Nationl office, we still want all 3.

That was kinda the point I was trying to make with asking the national Tea Party people to please look deeper into every candidate than on just fiscal issues. I am squarely in the camp of the 3 legged Reagan stool. I’m actually very disappointed that the Tea Parties have ignored two of the legs. It will be at their peril.

        • YnotNOW

The peril is not just that the Tea Party could lose momentum if they ignore part of the 3-legged stool (i.e. so-cons), but that the stool actually doesn’t stand in terms of implementing policy. If the people lack personal responsibility, fiscal conservatism cannot keep them in check as they seek bailout of personal failure, reigning in abuse of freedom by others, etc.

Christie is conservative porn with respect to his fight against the Unions and his budget control initiatives. I like him a lot and I get inspired each day I see his videos where he stands up to the Marxist NEA and NJEA.

Christie however is NOT conservative across ENOUGH of the board spectrum. You can see this in his stands and statements with multiple issues such as GZM endorsement, Castle endorsement, Second Amendment waffling etc.

I fully agree that candidates must be vetted better and that one of the requirements must be that they are conservative at least mostly across the board. Being a superman in one area (which I think Christie is) is not enough.

IMO, the major thing that will determine the critically needed success of the Tea Parties, of which I am a part, will be our ability to create, vet, and elect candidates that are both strong/dynamic AND conservative at least across most all board…not in one area only.

Do you attend any Tea Party meetings with any of the bigger groups? I would love to hear what they say. Do they look farther than just on fiscal issues?

      • fpete13527

The major focus is fiscal but Tea Parties are NOT limited to that.

        I’ll speak from my experience.

Most that I know fit the Reagan 3 leg stool but that is not written in stone, although it is for me.

Most in the Tea Parties that I know are also affiliated with other groups to include 912′s.

Most all that I know in the Tea Parties, 912,s and REC are fiscal, social and National Defense conservatives.

Please direct me to the link where I can view the precise, clear cut standards and parameters the Tea Party uses when vetting future fiscal candidates.

All so, if you would, please direct me to the link that accurately descries what is required of one to be a Tea Party member so I know if I qualify.

      Thanks

      I need a link please.

We are showing signs of falling into the savior trap. That desperate hope and change crap got us Obama. Nobody is going to save us from ourselves. Nobody, not Christie, not Pence, not Ryan, not Palin, not Romney, not Ron Paul, not Jindal, not even Reagan if he were alive and well.

There is no perfect candidate, never was, never will. Instead, our constant diligence will keep those we elect on the straight and narrow. The Christies of the world will be tapped for financial reform/taking on unions, the Palins of the world will be tapped for energizing the base, etc…each have their strengths and can play a part.

Leaders do not create movements, movements create and inspire leaders. We need to be the tail that wags the dog.

That’s where ColdWarrior’s precinct committeeman drive is the most important thing anyone can do to set this country back on track.

Blind desperate hopenchange just leaves us with change in our pockets. Their is no substitute for every citizen doing their part to preserve this country. There is only one savior and he ain’t gonna run for President, he already has the top job. It’s up to us to drive real positive change, not hoping for someone else to do it for us.

People want a rock star. People want to be followers. It’s *easier* than learning and doing for themselves.

Conservatism is about the ideas, the ideals – not about the personalities. I am very nervous when I see what look like “cults of personality” sprouting up here on Red State, and on other conservative sites. It can only mean people don’t want to do the work of understanding why lower taxes are better or understanding why abortion is worse etc. etc. Too many want to be fat, lazy, led .. like sheep … and there are plenty of politicians (and others…) who can and will say whatever they have to in order to shear the sheep and leave them looking up .. unfed.

that much happens because of desperation. Do you remember how many were coming out right after Scott Brown got elected and wanted him to run for President?

It’s true that there is no perfect candidate, but some negatives are more egregious than others. Being an Islamist sympathizer is pretty bad, isn’t it? Being a greenie is pretty bad, isn’t it?

The Republicans haven’t had a true leader for a long long time. We’ve been dealing with spineless squishes in Wash. for the last four years, and the jury is still out on what the House will do with their new majority. Every time I find reason for hope, it gets slapped down with more stupidity, such as sitting with the Dems, holding hands, and playing kissy face with them at the state of the Union Redress.

Power abhors a vacuum, true? With each Republican that stands up one time, everyones eyes fly there. When a Republican manages to get elected to a new post in DC, we all look there, such as trying to draft West and Rubio, before they have served the first day or accomplished the first thing other than winning election. If that phenomenon doesn’t prove that there is no one Republican leader, and that not any Republican so-called front runners are yet widely acceptable to the many. While people keep running from one to the next, desperately seeking a leader, and then moving on to the next who may look promising, the vacuum will remain a vacuum. At this time he/she has not yet arrived. One thing we do know though, Chris Christie is not it.

Renewable subsidies moves our hard earned tax dollar to the next guy. Guys like GE’s Immelt . When subsidies are pared with sputtering renewables such as wind our economy and jobs will go down just like Spain’s.
