It’s All Up To Us Now.

It’s a long way from 1776 and the momentous decision made by courageous and determined men to put aside the oppressive yoke of olde worlde monarchic dynasty and create a fledgling nation consecrated in free men’s blood.

The 56 signatories to the Declaration of Independence were fully well aware that their lives were definitely on the line. The British were not known for leniency, and a charge of high treason against the person of King George the Third was a quick trip to a hanging or worse. Five of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence were tortured to death by the British.

Both British regulars and colonial loyalist militias were accused of atrocities against the colonists, which only served to enrage the Americans even farther. The point is that every single person associated with the revolution was under the threat of death. This wasn’t some high flown political theory… this was right now in real time.

There was no one to help them… they were on their own. By a fortuitous accident of history, the French King saw an opportunity to stick his thumb in King George’s eye later in the war. The influx of men and material enabled the colonialists to ultimately triumph.

Today, we have much the same situation with Barack Hussein Obama and his gang of Marxists. This may be the new American revolution… we’re in a fight to the finish with an entire government and every single person who chooses to identify as a DeMarxist. We’re not simply setting out to win an election, though no one will deny that this is an election we cannot lose.

But it’s more than that. We have to deliver a crippling blow to this evil philosophy of mismanagement, corruption, greed and the erosion of the rule of law. We have to literally break the back of the Democrat Party as it is presently constituted.

We’ll never eliminate the liberal mindset entirely… there will always be those who feel as though someone or something owes them sustenance. But we can send them slinking into the background of history as a nightmare story to be used when children misbehave.
It’s all on us now.

I look across the landscape of our ‘leaders’ and I don’t think there are five I would trust in the capacity of these men you write about. Do you see John Boehner giving up his golf-with-Obama priveleges, much less his life, fortune or sacred honor? Even guys I like, like Rush, Hannity and Beck: when asked if they would run for office, Rush says he couldn’t win (fair enough) and HE DOESNT WANT TO TAKE A PAY CUT. Hannity says he doesn’t like politics- strange for someone who makes his living off political radio. Beck makes similar comments – although at least he’s trying to do more than just talk, having started his own media outlet. I like these guys, but when you hear them give their reasons for not getting involved in politics, you know they couldn’t honestly sign the DOI. So my question is : was Socrates right, that the polity is man writ large? Do our leaders simply reflect us? And if so, what does that say about us. If not, what does THAT say about us.

    Thanks for this pertinent article.
